i love that you guys want to support all sports.
as a subscriber for almost 4 years, i've been patiently waiting for the womens canadian fantasy curling stats to get loaded.
rocks and hammers with women using brooms on long sheets of ice. oh my!! can't wait.

was watching the "Action" docu-series on Showtime network about gambling.
you guys were mentioned because the 3rd or 4th best ranked player in all of daily fantasy uses Fantasy Cruncher.
nice publicity when that many people are watching.
good job guys.

just a reminder to the players (from a player)
when you see a projection like matt tifft at 51.07 in the cup race, dig a little deeper and check his (cup only) starts.
i'll assume that Fcruncher is taking averages of cup and xfinity races which are 2 different kinds of competition.
with race scores of 7.8, 19, and 11 in 3 cup starts (average 12.6) it's a big stretch to think that projection of 51.07 is reachable.
a few of the rookies will have out of whack projections. (houff is at 52.3 today in his 1st cup start ever so maybe downgrade to the 9-15 range.
just my opinion.

is anyone finding it tougher on draftkings this season to make the cut line on 50/50's or double ups in the NHL?
3 years ago and 2 years ago i was actually making a profit in hockey on DK.
last NHL season seemed tougher, but i survived.
this season it seems that the other players on DK have stepped up their games and i'm struggling.
i opened my DK account in 2015 and had not ever had to make another deposit.
(very proud of that, but i've also had success with MMA on DK also.)
on FD, i'm still doing well year after year in the NHL and continue to grind out a profit.
is anyone finding DK to be harder to cash than FD in hockey this season?

happy new year to everyone at cruncher as well as you players.

I'm new to playing hockey, but it occurs to me that it would be a good idea to include goalie as part of all lines, including power play lines. That way, for stacking purposes, if I want to stack a particular line, I can include the goalie in that stack. As it stands now, I don't see a way to do that. Thanks.

if you're new to hockey, you may want to watch this on youtube...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=77YfgbSXZOk

it's from the MIT Sloan sports analytics conference in 2016.
these guys cracked the code and won big.
sorry to cruncher staff if i'm not supposed to link a youtube video.

that was quick. thanks guys.

it seems to be more than a few races behind... thanks

got a 600.0 last night in MMA with 6 wins in 6 fights.
got lucky with cejudo winning the belt @ $6800

dillishaw 132.5
cejudo 76.5
ramos 62.0
a. perez 142.0 active fight and tko win
zhang 76.5
vera 110.5

a little bit of me and a little bit of cruncher with smiles all around at the end of the night.

for this week and last week, the numbers seem awfully low.
i made sure it was cup and not xfinity projections i was looking at.
typically at dover the top driver will score 82 to 100 points and the projections are half that.
just asking?

Replied To: is mlb down

super slow on mlb for me too from 6:20 pm until about 6:50, then it got better.
it was weird because i switched over and did my MMA quickly and came back to baseball right before lock.

the status page for draftkings site says is up, but only sections of it. some how i can check my league standings and look at league games from last night and see the scores, but that's about it.

was wondering if this is a east coast servers are down and west coast servers are up kind of thing.
not even an email from draftkings saying anything about anything.

yeah, the game was about halfway thru when i posted and NOT after the game ended so shame on me for not posting before 7pm because the point was to see if a cap of maybe 1.5 times the rolling average could be set as a guideline.
quite often in the time crunch, i become a situational lineup builder instead of projection based.
example... i'll take 3 top players and the goalie from team A and then set 2 of 3 in the other 2 teams i think will score big regardless of me adjusting any projections.
i kept finding over and over that malkin would get into those crunched lineups along with my 3 stars from team A, so i ended up with many 2,500 to 3,000 salaried players in the other slots because malkin sucks up the salary cap.

it kinda sounds like you think i only wanna bash you guys with this and the thing i brought up about the time of player injuries getting posted in hockey from a week or so ago.
however, i loved this...

so i'm still 99.9 percent happy even though it may not sound like it.

once again tonight (3/27/18) has malkin projected at over 7.5 (7.57) on draftkings in hockey.
the last 8 times that has happened, he has never exceeded his projection and usually can't perform to those overly lofty projections
last 8 projections listed over 7.5 came out to 8.24 as an average.
those 8 nights finished up with scores averaging 3.88 combined.
even with his big salary, the lineups keep having him put in there with those big projections.
time for a tweeking of the outlier in the algorithm guys.
hockey season is about over, but capping a player at X.X times his rolling average could be used as a safeguard.
at a 4.3 average, maybe a 1.5 times average cap equalling 6.45 would be more in line.
just a thought.

i know. i know.
we should never trust fantasy cruncher.
well, the thing is, we actually do.
i'm pretty good about checking left wing lock's website for hockey updates, but got in a time crunch tonight before lock.
too busy watching college basketball may have been a contributing factor.
that big fat zero for Seth Jones playing for Columbus with a $6,500 salary is gonna hurt on the cash lines.
at about 6:30 tonight he didn't show as a problem on cruncher at all when i spit out some lineups.
if i'd have checked left wing lock, they had him out at 2:55 pm on their twitter feed.
of course at 9:45 tonight, you have a red + next to his name, but nothing at 6:30pm
just venting, because of course it's our own fault for not checking every player in every lineup we make.

rule#1 - always double check with something other than cruncher.
as another example tonight (i caught this one in time) martin jones is listed as probable goalie for san jose at 9:45 for a 10pm game.
aaron dell was listed as the starter for san jose @ 8:23 pm on another site due to back to back games for san jose

rule#2 just don't play when you get in a time jam because it almost never works out and will cost you money.

still love you guys and the software, but dang those big fat zeros hurt.
updated later that evening... cruncher helped me bank a draftkings MMA score of 516.
MONEY MONEY MONEY all is forgiven

if you hit the main slate, those seem correct.
the "double play" salary came up as the default salaries i think.
when using the main slate, all my lineups seemed correct.

USA men goes for the Olympic gold medal after beating Canada in the semis.

get it done Draftkings.

USA USA USA

not expecting it to be a large amount of players, but you never know.
just asking, not begging.

would love to have the info even though it's a shorter race and the points won't match up because of the difference in laps.

i guess because you could play draftkings hockey on all star day, that it becomes part of the data process.
playing 3 on 3 hockey in an all star game is not the same as 5 on 5 where defense actually exists.
i started finding numbers that don't add up this week and couldn't figure it out until i noticed in the 10 game log under each player on draftkings.
that gets loaded into the fantasy-cruncher data also because that's the statistical feed you guys are hooked up with.
i'm finding some guys are way over-rated and assuming that their salary dollar number has increased when it really shouldn't.

this is almost as much fun as when the trade deadline in baseball happens and a pitcher goes from 13 home game stats and 10 away stats to suddenly show up after the trade with 22 away game stats and the team he got traded to now becomes his one "home" start because he played there as the road pitcher earlier in the season.
oh the joys of being a stat geek. ya gotta love it.

drive safe on super sunday... peace

in theory, people making progress with the sharing of ideas, makes the group smarter as a whole.
coming from a greyhound betting background from the 1980's, there were groups that fell into the 80/20 rule.
20 percent of the group would openly share ideas and get better in an exponential way, where we were massively more profitable than others in the groups.
80 percent of the group would become "takers of information" and decide not to share much at all, but constantly complain about other peoples theories and research because they tried things for a few weeks and ideas didn't work for short sample sizes.
research and "split testing" is hard and frustrating. it can become a grind and most people will eventually become "takers."
in 3 years of daily hockey fantasy, i don't do hardly anything the way i started out 3 years ago, but i'm constantly looking for small increases.
if you make a 10 percent increase in 3 different areas, you aren't 10 percent better, you're 33 percent better over time.

now i'm not trying to plug these guys, but tastytrade, com has some of the smartest math minds around and tom sosnoff was one of the founders of the think or swim platform that td ameritrade bought out to become their platform for options trading.
they have shows like ""where do i start" for beginners to options trading as well as way more advanced shows for the hard core learners.
one of the philosophies is "trade small and trade often" which most daily fantasy players would think is nuts, but reducing the variance is needed for longer term profits. even if you don't understand stock options at all, some of the math and probability lessons could make you a better daily fantasy player.

i'm not trying to take a dump on this idea of the slack channel, i'm just saying that some of the "givers" will get tired of always giving, while the "takers" act as a sponge and give nothing in return.
you'll eventually lose the "givers" to their own little world where the rich get richer and the "takers" will quit and their bankrolls vanish.
make sure there is a "where do i start" section somewhere to keep the newbies around long enough for one or two of them to become "givers".
as i've said in a post before, daily fantasy is a lot like fishing... telling someone you don't know well to "try fishing the north side of the lake today, you'll probably do better up there," is way more different than saying "go to the north side of the lake, find the cove with 3 tall pines and a giant rock in front of them, cast your line 10 feet from the edge of where that rock is and you'll catch all the fish your limit will reach today."

sometimes playing and playing becomes just as educational as looking at blog posts about tips and theory.
pretty much every single day of the hockey season for the last 2 years, i started a free contest besides playing in the paid games.
a funny thing happened along the way, you find out who's better than you even in free games. you can take all that information from the winners and try to reverse engineer what is working for them.
this year, i've been running "leagues" with month long hockey contests. over a 30 day span, the cream always rises to the top. even though the league is free, the competition is still strong. you get a league page that has the highest scores, average scores, and contests played information from every contest.
i now have MONTHS of data from the best of the best of these leagues, (hockey pickem and classic on draftkings)
some guys have hit 40 points or higher as many as 5 times in a 30 day period. i can go in and see how they structured their lineups and what kind of team stacks they may use. i also keep track of my own projected "goals for" and the vegas lines as well as me making my own "probability of team win percentage" for every game. i can see if the "smart guys" are using mostly players from those types of teams or do they spread them out over 5 or 6 teams. most articles will tell you to "stack, stack, stack" well, anyone with 3 years of research from "smart guys in hockey" may beg to differ over a cold drink sometime.
one thing you learn from dog and horse track players, everyone has got an opinion and most of them are wrong.
some of you may want to get better at picking winning probabilities of hockey, basketball, or football teams in general.
if sports wagering gets passed by the supreme court in the united states, daily fantasy will get pushed to the back burner for players.

as far as a "where do i start," the insights tab at fantasy cruncher has some decent knowledge to get you started and maybe you can learn a thing or 2 from those guys.
maybe join a bunch of free contests or set up a league and try to find out why the same 5 to 10 players are always hitting the higher scores in a single entry "no money" contest.
try and remember, the guys playing in big money contests aren't smarter than you, they just usually have bigger bankrolls. there have been so many times that scores from our free hockey leagues would've taken down the big prizes in contests, but most of us don't have huge bankrolls for daily fantasy.

peace,,, have a safe and happy new year... sorry for the long rant

so by definition, slack would be...

not active or busy, sometimes dull.

sign me up for that one.

one of us may name our first born son "other dave" if this comes to fruition.
of course, i'd rather have a curling draftkings fantasy game with cruncher projections, but EPL soccer keeps my saturday mornings busy.
ICE ICE BABY

my whole ratings model came mostly from stats that i used from yahoo's season long fantasy nascar game website.
they had the last 5 years from each track broken down with wins, top 10's, laps led, and finishes.
a screen shows that they are no longer going to have season long golf or nascar for 2018.

no one has to give me the willy wonka golden ticket for research (unless you want to), just point me down the road and take it from there.

i'm pretty sure for about 20 days straight, i'll have to hit "ok to the community guidelines" just out of habit instead of putting in a number and clicking crunchers projections on the tab.
any way we can get a default back to 3 lineups from cruncher like it was, by hitting a screen that says we really don't think you guys are snake oil salesmen and entering our name is like our signature saying we understand?

I will use your logo for this month, on DK Thank You for the first month on you. Chris R

dude you're replying to a post from over a year ago.
how are you getting something for free?

i'm not sure if starting position is used in your models, but i see you made an update after qualifying and the starting position column has last weeks starting positions in it, not this weeks.

with nascar finishing up this weekend, i'd like to spend some time getting better at my projections over the winter.
any chance we can get that information on actual scores before the lights get turned out for the year.
thanks for all you do.

i had a 509.5
i played figuieredo at $7300 and he still got the win, but only 44.5 points for the fight without too much action.
sometimes you have what you think is a strong lineup and get smoked, so a "6 wins in 6 fights" night is cause for applause.

well, i was thinking more along the lines of not getting any rake on a saturday night.
i would assume that for the NBA and NHL, that would be the most played night of the week.
if you take the"highest rake for the night this week" and put a big fat zero in that column. if kinda takes the profit margins down a big notch.
and yes, the contests and the bonus money hurts them also.

not to mention, i know players who "double up" when they lose (even though i've told them it's a bankroll emptying strategy at some point)
a couple of them were into multiple double ups from losing three and four times in a row.
they should've cashed their plays based on how they did with the lineups they had. (they all cashed on fanduel that night)
now, those guys are really pissed because that should've brought them back to even but the games "didn't run"
so now they play on sunday and all those guys lost the sunday slate.
now they're really pissed because they are now down even further looking at a monday hockey slate of just 2 games when their "double up strategy should've bailed them out on saturday night.
they're all talking about never playing draftkings again.
i think they're morons for doing double ups as a strategy, but hey, to each their own.
i guess that's why there are $1, $2, $3, $5, $10, $20, $25, $50, $100 and so on contest denominations.
draftkings knows that people "double up" to recoup their losses so they accomodate them.

got an email a little while ago explaining the screw up on the NBA and NHL for saturday nights 7pm games.
it looks like $100,000 worth of free contests to anyone who had money that was refunded from tonights games.
they're also kicking in a 40 percent deposit bonus (up to a certain amount.) for players who were affected tonight.
that bonus deposit money helps make up for all the rake we've been paying.
check your emails and take advantage of something free while you can.

over the last 2 years, i've seen guys ask for nearly every kind of bells and whistle imaginable.
i'm not sure this has been asked for, but forgive me if it has.
it may not be feasable to write code for this, but i'll ask any way.

let's say you are looking at hockey projections and you think that whomever is playing florida tonight should get a bump.
you think florida is the worst team at giving up fantasy points by a factor of 1.23 versus the average team.
maybe you think vancouver is very stingy at giving up fantasy points by a factor of 0.761 versus the average team.
i would love a column where you take fantasy crunchers averages column (not their projections) and you could insert a "team multiplier" that would take the averages and adjust them up or down according to the "multiplier" you entered for all players on that team.

as an example from the above scenario...
a player with a 4.0 average going against florida would then be projected at (4.0 times 1.23 equals 4.92)
if a 4.0 player was going against vancouver he'd be projected at (4.0 times 0.761 equals 3.04.)
so both would have 4.0 averages, but the "multiplier" would drastically change what the "my projections" number would be.
4.92 versus average of 4.0 versus 3.04.

now of course i could set up my own spreadsheet and download every player and adjust the multipliers and then reload all of them into " my projections" on fantasycruncher, but who wants to do that if you guys could do it for me with a little (or a lot) of coding work.
it's probably not feasable for you to do this, but maybe it's not too impossible. just thought i'd ask.

thanks again.
ps - can't wait for the women's olympic curling projections to come out. i'm gonna make a fortune. (ICE RULES!!)

at what point does your projection model totally become numbers based on this season?
as an example, if it's a 20 game model and we're only 9-12 games into the season, i'd expect some of last years data to still be mixed in.
i think this got answered somewhere in the past 2 years and i can't find it.
thanks for all you guys do.

i usually try and find one underdog and a favorite that's not too pricey but has submission or knockout power to key off of.
i used my 2 last night and had cruncher fill in the rest.
6 wins in 6 fights for the top roster.
AWESOME JOB GUYS!!

good news, bad news...

the bad news is that someone that played in only one contest in my hockey league (the grinders have played in 10 or more) has decided to spam my league list with all kinds of basketball contests. draftkings sends a notification to your actual email address inviting you to join his contests.
i woke up a few days ago to 25 emails from draftkings for this guy inviting people to every kind of basketball contest under the sun.
so once again, be VERY careful about who you invite into your league.

the good news...
TO THE FANTASY CRUNCHER STAFF, remember when you'd have private contests giving away a fantasycruncher t-shirt to the winner of a draftkings contest? i know one of the contests had 98 players in a 100 player contest at lock time and draftkings killed the contest because it didn't fill. that doesn't happen in a "LEAGUE" contest. if you set it at 200 players and only 30 show up, the contest still runs.
if you guys have any t-shirts still floating around, you may want to set up a "crunchers" league and once a month or so you could bounce out a t-shirt or something.

thanks from a 2 year satisfied subscriber

with about 35 minutes before lock time, draftkings is about 100k short on their $3 nba contest.
a few other contests may come up short also.
i guess the 2 game slate may be partly to blame.
maybe they should've had the million dollar game on a bigger slate.

as an update about an hour after lock...
18 of the top 22 guaranteed games on draftkings did not fill up. (prize pools of $12,000 or higher)
the $3 entry (million dollar prize pool) only had a 79.5 percent fill rate.
even with the rake, draftkings will still lose over $50 grand on that contest alone because of shortfalls.
i still can't believe they did all that on a 2 game slate.

thank you for including the red-headed stepchild that is the NHL. bless you my sons...

as an update, i set up the league and told everyone that we'd keep it as a "classic" game and not pickems. i also set up to try and keep it as a tuesday, thursday, and saturday league for people that didn't have time to play seven days a week.
it took one day for the league to get hi-jacked by another member. someone posted a contest for a pickem game on wednesday.
apparently anyone in the league can post any kind of contests without letting the commissioner know.
keep that in mind if you want to start a league, be careful about who you invite and also who those people may invite.

the good thing about the league is that when you put a new contest in, you don't have to invite everyone each time. they can just look thru the upcoming games tab to play that way. it did keep track of "average score" after playing more than one contest. also, you can set a contest for 50 players and if only 14 show up (like the pickem game), the contest will still run and not get cancelled.

other than the "pickem" contest getting thrown into the classic league scoreboard, i'd say the league thing is worth trying out with your closest buddies.

it appears you can set up a league of 10 players (or whatever number) and then invite them to the league, but then have contests for 50 players so anyone can play in the individual contests.
i'm assuming "the league" keeps track of the accumulated scores after each contest is played for the 10 players in the league and doesn't track the scores of non-league members.
i did a tuesday, thursday, saturday league using a spreadsheet last season and it took alot of time to update.
this seems like it would help alot.

anyone tried this for hockey yet?

well until you get your insights up, maybe some of the newbies can check out my "15 tips" post from 2 years ago on here...

aw christ, it's the "you let the cat out of the bag, you idiot" backlash.

it's like fishing... there's a big difference between saying " you may want to try the north end of the pond mister jones"
as opposed to saying " go to the north side of the pond, find the spot with 3 trees together with the big rock by the ledge, cast your line 10 feet in front of the rock and you'll catch more fish than anyone out there."

big difference in information shared.
sorry if any of you get your butt hurt by saying "find your niche and play arcade baseball" so you don't have to play against all of those duplicate entries in the regular game. that's why i love hockey, there's just so much stupid money. you'll end up with people having goalies that aren't even starting in the net in your 50/50 games. big salaries getting zero points night after night. you are basically only playing against 90 percent of the entries instead of everyone. any edge you can find is worth exploiting.

i forgot how profitable the first month of football season is playing baseball.
there are always people with new money sitting in there account that think they can conquer any sport.
i mostly switched over to draftkings "arcade baseball"
there aren't hardly any games loaded with 6 to 10 players with the exact same lineups in 50/50's.
fantasy cruncher is a real help to the bankroll.
i set up a 25 player free game every night and we have about 10-15 active players who have a "side game" that adds up totals for the week and month.
can't wait for hockey, so even more stupid money arrives.
find your niche, get good at it, and your profits will grow.
good luck guys and thanks again cruncher team.

great job guys as always.
time for (the other dave) to get a good nights sleep.
... and on friday he can start working on the canadian womens curling fantasy stats i've been hoping for the last 2 years.
no seriously, i'm not kidding, there's money in them there hills.
hockey is my most profitable sport. anything played on ice should be good. LOL

i got a few gateway errors and it just took forever.
maybe it was just me.

that has got awesome sauce written all over it.
i got it in to win @ 12:53 eastern sunday.
BIG PROPS BOYS !!

i know there is usually a monday night update with the projections, but i've never really paid attention to see if there is a wednesday afternoon or wed. night update.
i usually do golf prep tuesday night and really only look at bad weather on thursday as a possibility for changes by wednesday night.
if you typically have a decent sized projections update on wednesday, maybe i'll change my prep day.

so i guess the question is this, on a typical week, the golf projections...
A) don't change hardly ever after monday's update.
B) they change a little every week, but not too much to re-do all your research.
C) the changes are big enough each week so you should wait and do research on wednesday evening

thanks

yes please... ASAP

650.5 points for the good guys.
good enough for 1st in our "DFS hockey players" 100 person game.
you guys are awesome.

well ok, it looks like i'm outnumbered on the canadian curling for a DFS sport thing, but man oh man when the guy from saskatchewan has the hammer on the final end going against the guy from moose jaw, the tension is so thick you could cut it with a knife.
just saying... LOL

don't they realize that canadian professional curling is a much better sport to watch than the WNBA.
who doesn't love rocks, hammers, and people with brooms sweeping a sheet of ice.
dave, "other dave" i'd start working on that curling app soon... the WNBA, not so much.

i was made an honorary "vigilante" for crushing the hopes and dreams of a "russian spam link" type organization that tried wreaking havoc on here the past 2 years. i've got over 100 "kills", but so far, you're not even on my radar. LOL

and the carnival barker said...
step right up young man and play our shiny new game...
it's called mix-up for baseball and it's real fun...
the young man replied "geezus, this game has a 15 percent rake. are you guys a bunch of crooks?
you should charge less rake on new games to get people interested."

the carnival barked shouted... shut up kid and move along. you're hurting my business.

free game today (4/27) starting at 1:05
2 pitchers
3 utility batters
35K salary cap
it looks like you can stack all 3 utility players from the same team as long as you have 2 pitchers from other teams.
i'm expecting massive amounts of ties with the smaller amount of player combinations.

damn, i love me some twitter tirades now and then.
had to look at the fantasycruncher twitter feed to see what's up.
the #F-rotogr###### made me smile.
keep up the good work guys.
i wasn't planning on getting into baseball until may, but the draftking 5 years celebration had me take a peek.
as i said in post one, i hadn't broken 200 in baseball, my highest was when i had a no hitter pitcher in 2015.

i'd never cracked 200 points before.

thanks guys!!

any plans on having a screen for this?
it looks like the scoring is the same except the finish positions, if i read it correctly.

maybe i'll find a tournament where it looks really rainy, where they may only get 3 rounds in, try and stack your studs in days 1 and 2 so the guys playing in rounds 3 and 4 lose an entire day worth of scoring. have to look over the scoring rules with a magnifying glass.

update...
ok, so after going old school and using notebook and graph paper with colored pencils to design my lineup for fanduel golf...
the winner is FANTASYCRUNCHER. geezus that takes a long time to do long hand.
cruncher saves so much time and energy.
thanks guys, still a fan since the summer of 2015

came in 1st in a 200 person contest. the lineup i picked got me 368 pts.
nice job by the MMA projection team.

i was short on time last night after finishing up my draftkings lineups, so i had about 8 minutes to throw a lineup together for the Fanduel summer free for all qualifier. i always try and take my single shot at this 7 pm contest because it's free and you never know when you can catch lightning in a bottle. only the top 100 get a ticket to the final round on 9/13 (17,583 played in it last night.)
so with little time to spare i used carrasco as my pitcher, eliminated 4 teams that looked like rain and a couple more with low scoring potential.
(no stacks, no 3 from this team and 2 from this team, just carrasco as my pitcher and spin the wheel of fortune.)
the fantasycruncher baseball gods cranked out a 274.50 which was 16th best out of 17,583.
it was so late that the 50/50 i tried to get into with that didn't fill nor did i enter that into any paid tournaments.
shoulda woulda coulda as they say. (i did qualify for the 9/13 final though)
anyway, still happy to know that big scores are possible even in a time crunch. thanks guys.
41 carrasco
3 grandal
27.8 goldschmidt
28.2 philips
15.4 ramirez
9.7 russell
66.6 tomas
28.7 soler
54.1 weeks
---------
274.50 total

they upped it from 100.
i guess all those groups that put in the exact same lineups were tired of only being able to put in 40-50 guys on their trains.
now they can put 80 to 95 on without jamming everyone into smaller leagues.
deeep sigh... oh for the days when you saw the same exact score by only a few people, then it became 10 people, then 10's of people.
i was in a 100 person 50/50 contest a few weeks ago that had 38 people with the exact same lineup. just sickening.

can we get him zeroed out on the projections please.
he hasn't played a game since 6/4 and is about to get season ending surgery.
he was projected at 6.24 points today on draftkings and he's been popping up in lineups when i want multiple redsox in a roster for months.
it always takes time to look at his news and notes to see if he's ready to finally play and he never is, which means X him out and re-run the optomizer.
somehow your data feed keeps projecting him as getting a decent amount of points as a lower priced player.
just stop the madness and zero him out please.

draftkings must've re-updated scoring on the last fight more than 30 minutes after it ended.
when i went to bed, one of my lineups was below the cash line in the 50/50's but hadn't gone to "history" yet.
this morning the scores have changed into my favor as now being in the money. sweet!!
on a side note, i had a lineup with 4 fighters winning their bouts and didn't cash and had a lineup with only 3 fighters winning that scored 43.5 points more. that's the first time i'd not cashed in a 50/50 with 4 fighters winning in over a year.

i awaken today with an MMA present tucked neatly under the Christmas tree waiting to be un-wrapped.
joy to the world, joy to the fishes in the deep blue sea, joy to you and me.

that has awesome sauce written all over it.

i'm finding the new fanduel pages to be hard on my eyes since they changed to the "bright blue" background.
(not anything on fantasycruncher - i'm talking the new fanduel layout)
after more than a couple of minutes, i almost need sunglasses.
anyone else having that problem or do i need a trip to the eye doctor?

are you ready for some football?

i was just looking at the top 5 tournaments for golf on draftkings as the lock time passed.
i had noticed that their $5,300 buy-in golf "thunderdome" tournament actually lost money because the buy-ins were less than the guaranteed prize pool. (84 entires x $5,300 = $445,200 on a $450,000 payout... losing $4,800)
so instead of feeling sorry for draftkings, i decided to see how much rake they were going to make off the top 5 golf tournaments combined.
$2.5 million golf millionaire >> $341,267
$600k pga birdie >> $105,882
$450k thunderdome >> (-$4,800)
$400k club pro >> $44,222
$200k back nine >> $31,210
add them all up and they had a profit of $517,781 from their top 5 tournaments including losing a little money on the thunderdome.
this doesn't include the tons of other golf 50/50's and head to heads that they're running.

i just find it hard to believe that fanduel can't figure out a way to add golf and somehow be profitable. (maybe next year)
as a small business man myself, i'm happy to see draftkings making money and more power to them, but i do think competition is also good for the consumer.

just so you know, some of us REALLY appreciate the constant goal of making this tool better and better (week after week and month after month)

he's driving in the #88 this week and the next.
so if your lineup shows chase elliot and jeff gordon, you'll have (2) 24 cars on your projections, until this is corrected.

The next sport we will add is MMA, and that may or may not happen prior to the start of the NFL season. I have quite a bit of work I am doing to get ready for the upcoming seasons, we don't want to rest on our laurels.

i wrote this post on september of 2015, so as a reminder...

about mid july i started entering 5 free head to heads on draftkings mma games so i could have scores from every fighter.
some nights on cash 50/50's not every fighter is used, so i wanted to start tracking everyone for a stat base.
it's a small sample so far, but i now have 192 scores for fighters along with their salaries.
i also have vegas/offshore odds (30 minutes before lock) on the fighters converted to projected win percentages.
with an excel sort i can "bucket" them into categories and look up the past points scored for fighters that fall into that range bucket of salary and also projected win percentages.
so fighter 5B with a salary of $X should get about X points and with a projected win percentage of "Y" he should get about "Y" points.
this gives me a good idea of what the possible points total could be for every fighter on the card and the value plays pop off the screen.
i also started tracking the ufc.com fantasy game picks for the fighters because they show projected win percentages on that "game".
sometimes when the fantasy players and vegas are out of whack, you can find some lower priced fighters with a good chance to win.
anyway, i'm above water so far, but would love it if there was even a blank skeleton that i could enter my own projections into and then cruncher could spit out the best lineups.
something like...
fighter 1a projection __
fighter 1b
fighter 2a
fighter 2b
and so on.
thanks in advance for any help you can bring.

also, draftkings has opened up the EPL to people in england for play, so the numbers will steadily improve as the season goes on.
i know there is a limit to what features are worthy, but we'll always want more and more.
if there was curling from canada in the winter, i'd play it.
tour de france? sign me up, i'm a stat geek.
olympic judo? well, ok, that may be a stretch.

rocked out a draftkings baseball score of 175.70 last night, so it's all smiles today.

joy to the fishes in the deep blue sea, joy to you and me.

geez, the fact that i played pong before i even graduated high school makes me feel really old now.

so you're saying a commodore 64 with 28k modem running on a netscape browser is not the optimal situation.
just kicking it old school. LOL

or from a strictly business perspective...
email your subscriber list of people who've "dropped off" since NBA and NHL are done.
tell them that "football is back" don't wait until september to get back in the game.
join up by july 5th or 10th and get 6 straight months of football for a discounted price.
even if you gave them 15 or 20% off, you'd be getting 80 percent of 6 months, instead of 100 percent of 4 months, so you'd actually be making more money.
just a thought.

just as a reference for level of interest.
today is opening day on 6/23.
i posted a 50/50 league and invited my hockey league pals.
i wanted to make sure it'd fill with invites, so i only made it a 10 person league.
it filled within 15 minutes of posting.
so without "invites" i posted a 20 person league and it filled within 45 minutes.
i realize some of my hockey list are from canada, so maybe the CFL is right up their alley.
or maybe people JUST LOVE FOOTBALL.

i think that YES, THE INTEREST IS THERE.

p.s. i've wanted an MMA cruncher "skeleton" for over a year.
i could care less about any MMA projections from the staff or even a lineup rewind for MMA.
the fact that i could load in my numbers and have this wonderful tool crank out lineups like lightning instead of poking, pecking, and hoping it fits the salary, keeps me hopeful for the future.

a wise man once said...
is it easier to find a needle in a haystack or to find a needle in a box of needles?
you're looking at his high score and seeing players with huge points scored because he was tops in your league. (the box of needles)
yesterday, when you were making your lineup, those players were hiding in a haystack.
did most of the top 10 people in your league have those players? probably not at all.
the top 4 teams that vegas had projected big numbers from last night were houston, boston, toronto, & arizona.
look thru the top 10 people in your league and see how many of them used these 4 teams.
chances are that a few had multiple arizona and toronto players because arizona scored 10 runs and toronto scored 13 runs.
the highest score i've ever gotten on fanduel happened to be last year when i was deciding between 3 pitchers and the one i chose ended up throwing a no hitter. he was only used by 5 percent of anyone in my 100 person league. needless to say, all of those 5 people ended up in the top 10 scores.
someone times you're lucky, sometimes you're good.
the goal is to put out lineups that are good for 50/50's and then try to catch lightning in a bottle (or needles in haystacks) for tournaments.

for more about being more lucky than good, see my post here about the smartest guys in the room...
https://www.fantasycruncher.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=1528

happiness is when he gets 20 points on dratkings on wednesday 6/15 and he's still at $2,000. sweeet.

friday 6/10 was his debut in the majors at $2k on DK.
he has 7 pts. thru 6 innings already.
luckily i had him before lock and worked around it on cruncher.
when the rockies are at home and/or kershaw is pitching, $2k players are a wonderful find.

apparently the eSports on draftkings is becoming a big deal. (well, maybe a small deal)
so i jumped into the free contest (4 am start today) and downloaded the csv file from draftkings.
using an excel spreadsheet and finding value stats, based on past points and salary, i actually came in 218th out of 1063 with about 7 minutes worth of time.
now i don't know diddly about league of legends (or whatever they were playing), but i know about value and how to use a spreadsheet.
(i ended up with a zero score in a flex spot, so knowing a little more would've helped.)
however, i'm sure if i could've optimized my lineup with the help of cruncher, i'd have been better off.
dave and tai should look into this when they aren't doing anything else. (yes, i'm kidding)

anyway, there looks to be a huge overlay in these games, so you guys may want to take a look and scrape up a few bucks.
you also get to play in "beginner games" on 50/50's to start out. (i haven't played beginner anything for a long time)
the 50/50's only had ten players and looked to have a hard time filling very many.
there's a $3k prize pool for june 2nd with multi entry set at 20 times for $5 entry.

i sent an email to support to get it straightened out.

to mcqueenrc... the fastest way to get something like that fixed is to email support directly instead of posting it on here.
they check the support email alot during the day, whereas these discussion boards are daily, but not as often.

good job fellas.
missing the massive wreck by most of the drivers helped a bunch, but hey, a cash is a cash.
that's about a top 2 percent score for today.

it looks like strasburg is pitching in the early game for washington and roark in the night game.

are you good at keeping records? most casual players have NO IDEA how good or bad they really are.
people spend tons of time on research, but really don't know if that research is paying off.
before i became a subscriber to fantasy cruncher, i noticed using the "lineup rewind tool" on my free trial period that the "value plays" that they had performed much better than rotowire, numberfire, and my own value picks.
originally my own value picks were usually 6 thru 9 hitters in the batting order from big run scoring teams (priced below $3.5k salary.)
once i started tracking what cruncher value plays were doing, my value plays improved alot, so i became a subscriber after the trial period.

hockey became my best game after making a big effort to increase aspects of the game each month a year ago. (like taking a month to get better at picking goalies.) no offense to the cruncher prediction maker but from 2/27 thru 5/7 of this season, their top goalie play averaged 4.38 points per game (which is good, so i'm not knocking it at all.) after specifically trying to improve JUST GOALIES earlier in the season, my #1 goalie averaged 5.30 points per game for the same time frame - and the cost per goalie start was even a little lower with mine. that doesn't sound like a big deal, but it's a 21 percent improvement at goalie. if you improved "value plays" by 10 percent or "wingers priced $7,500 or higher" by 10 percent, you'd start cashing a lot more. you'd be having lots more fun, and probably sleeping better at night after looking at your results.

for your basketball stuff, let's say you love 4 players and 3 of them under perform, do you have any idea why? were those 3 playing back to back nights or 3 games in 4 days? were all 3 of them playing on the road or were their teams supposed to lose based on the vegas line?
sometimes it's not rocket science. home teams usually score more than road teams (god bless the home team official scorer who gives a rebound to a guy not even under the basket) and teams favored to win by vegas usually score more than the other team. tired teams under perform more often than not.

pick something specific and try like hell to get better at that instead of trying to get better at 6 things at once.
if you make your question more specific, these guys can help.
i'll throw this out there and see if it helps. on youtube... type in decision tree analysis in the search box and find the one by victor lavrenko
(this helps some people and a giant light bulb goes off, some it doesn't and that's fine too, it's all about if pattern recognition works in some peoples brains)
a lot of the decision making for lineups in daily fantasy is kind of like coin flips. if heads is good for you, find out how to be the best "heads landing" flipper you can be.

hammer,
are you able to make a line-up on draftkings site itself?
all i get is a database error when trying to enter a lineup. (10am eastern)
when trying to set up a hockey league, it only allows me to make a reservation, not fill out a lineup and set up the league.
that's probably why fantasycruncher doesn't have anything yet, because the data from draftkings feed itself is still bad.

sunday 5/1/16
all my hitters combined for 102.2
kershaw throws a 81.0 gem on fanduel

thank you sir, may i have another.
cruncher is helping this hockey lover big time in baseball.

Andrew McCutchen uncorks a 60 point fanduel score at Coors (tuesday 4/26)
David Price throws a 72 points fanduel score at Atlanta.
just crazyness!!

ok. so let me get this straight for today...
161 NHL players
120 NBA players
341 MLB players
are you telling me that ALL 622 players don't have PERFECT projections.?
i can't just wave a magic wand while riding my nieces' unicorn and have a license to print money?
aw, dang. time to do a little more work on my lineups.

the name of the unicorn was not used to protect the innocent. LOL

tons of empty seats there today for the nascar race based on television.
i went about 6 years ago to the night race when it was sold out.
huge atmosphere difference from a sold out crowd to 50 thousand empty seats of today.
didn't see anything on yukerboys twitter feed or in here, but would love to still see what he had for his spreadsheet.

that error comes up if you have too many players locked at the same position (regardless of the salary)
it also comes up in baseball if you have a hitter facing one of your locked in pitchers and you don't change the preset (zero players against pitcher) setting.
it's probably one of those issues that are kicking it out.

are you guys crushing it or what?
i do 5 different lineups the 1st 3 weeks of the season until stats get more normalized and salaries get adjusted.
with crunchers help after 14 days of the season (70 plays) i'm at 49 wins and 21 losses to the 50/50 cash lines
now i obviously do my own tweaking of projections based on my "hockey secret sauce" but still...
70 percent cashes in baseball are a blessing from a hockey lover.
much gratitude boys and girls.

the baseball scores that seem to have no limits have arrived.
i had a 154.60 and the guy with the highest score in my game had 197.50.
just missed it by 43 points.

cruncher helped me get a 357.75 in DK hoops on the final night of the regular season where defense is seldom played.
too bad someone else had a 402.40 above me... so close again (45 pts.)

yeah!! there is a right slider now.
thanks dave

fantasy cruncher has 22.28 projected points for wednesday 4/6 on him.

as my investment advisor "uncle jimmy the loan shark" says...
past performance is not indicative of future results.
he'll take the "under" today

the boston - cleveland game got postponed for weather. (4:10 start)
at 3:58 i was going to blame fantasycruncher for it and then decided that would be silly.
i realized that goofy stuff happens and sometimes you need to build in a little extra time in case things go wrong.
got my list of pitchers out (in case kluber couldn't go and made the change.
took the outfielder from that game and replaced him also.
had time to spare because i planned ahead for goofy stuff that happens.
at 5:15 i'm happy, smiling, and still loving fantasycruncher.
i guess i'm having a better day than you.

aw, good old plan B
the default fantasy cruncher lineup came in with 443 actual points.
that hit top 3 in a 100 person league i was in.

I have the same problem. Im at 1366/768

mine too

using a windows pc, in baseball on DK & FD the value screen shows up fine on original page loading.
then you try and sort by value and the screen drops off the value on the right hand side and consistency is the furthest right column you can see.

IT'S ALIVE !! WOOOHOOO

he's there with a projection of zero. (on draftkings, didn't check FD)
i haven't seen any injury or rest info. that says he won't play.
in "my projections", change the zero to some number like 13.0 and he'll show up.

he's projected at zero points because...
LeBron James (rest) will not play Tuesday against the Rockets.
It's not even in a back-to-back set for James. The Cavs also have a back-to-back set coming up on Thursday and Friday, so perhaps LeBron gets a game off there, too. With James out, it'll likely be Iman Shumpert and Richard Jefferson getting more run while the other starters get more shots. Mar 28 - 2:16 PM

didn't check fanduel yet.
he's only played one game and looked good and will get more minutes since he scored a goal.
at $2,700 he'll be a sleeper for a week or 2.
oh crap, why did i tell everyone on here that. LOL

the top score looks like it'll be 343.10 in the 1.5 million dollar fantasy basketball championships on fanduel.
the winner got a nice $200,000 payout for 1st place.
the rockstars of the fantasy world competed and some say the smartest guys in the room.
well, maybe they just have bigger bankrolls and they just think they're the smartest guys in the room.
over on fanduel's $250 freeroll contest the high score was 396.10 and that person made a sweet $25 for 1st place.
(yes 25 bucks, it was a free roll, so free money is indeed free money)
now if you put in a lineup in the freeroll that scored 343.10 (the champ in the 1.5 million contest's score) you'd have come in a respectable 996th place and gotten absolutely no money at all in freeroll cash.

i had 326.90 in the freeroll which got me zip, but that score would get you 4th in the fantasy world final.
for all of you that grind it out wondering why those "other guys" are a little smarter and make their way into those big contests,
just smile and realize they aren't always as smart as you think, they just have the bankrolls.

it was fun to watch it unfold though.
"the stars might lie, but the numbers never do, i feel lucky today"

was it 295.50 points wise for you guys?
i came up with harvick/edwards/dale jr./truex/stenhouse/vickers

kurt busch crashed in practice and went to a back-up car.
he'll be starting at the back with lots of cars to pass for points.

yeah that makes sense. i guess that's why experimental things are a learning experience.
optimizing using cruncher projections or my projections would never include a zero projection in a lineup because there is always a better player projected at the same price because it would be greater than 0.0 projected.
the optimize highest average doesn't care if it's projected for zero points today or not.
i'll have to remember to clear those guys out.

i was doing some experimental stuff today and noticed a glitch (i think)
draftkings hockey - didn't check under fanduel
set slider at 1.0 minimum projection score
(could we get a 1.5 for hockey, going from 1.0 to 2.0 eliminates some cheap value players around 1.8 or 1.9)
optimize the remaining pool with highest average score setting.
run 10 lineups and you get players with projections of zero points.
shouldn't those get cleared out by the slider tool?
maybe i did this with too little sleep, but can you guys check it out.

nice job. if i did the transfer of numbers correctly...
the best projected lineup after cruncher sorted them out finished with 297.25 actual points.
that would be a top 15 in most 100 person leagues.

it's amazing how much more confused people have gotten in 24 hours after reading the new rules.
it looks like you could stack everyone at coors and that's it.
no other games on the schedule needed.
of course both pitchers would get crushed, but you may get 18 runs from your hitters.

for 2016 DK is going to 2 OF and a UTIL from 3 OF (kind of like a DH spot)
no more negative for caught stealing.
no more 6 player stacks - now 5.
no more (at least 3 teams) -now (across 2 games)
i think the scoring for pitchers "innings pitched" changed, but i'm not sure.
if you guys can see any other changes. post and discuss.

ah yes, the great "a lot of data is going to suck now" time frame.
last year during baseball season, some sites had johnny cueto (traded from cincy to k.c.) suddenly having 20 road starts and no home starts because he hadn't pitched in kansas city all season.
the data will drive you nuts when it takes awhile to get changed over.

i popped out a 62.8 in fanduel hockey on monday 2/29
scoring tends to be a little higher on fanduel based on big differences between them and draftkings.
i don't play hockey on fanduel much at all anymore because i play about 6 sports on draftkings and that's where my focus is.
i'm still chasing 60 on draftkings, but i did get to 56.8 last night on DK.

i'll be setting up qualifiers for the 64 player NBA bracket in March.

the final is set for thursday night 2/25.
in the semi-final round it was...
eyeofnewt 36.3 over hughhaf12 32.5 (in a cruel twist of fate, hughhaf12 didn't check his starting goalies. he had bishop for tampa bay who didn't start and got zero points, while eyeofnewt used vasilevskiy as tampa bays goalie who did start and scored 7.8 points which was a big difference in the outcome.

horacegrant31 30.3 over fantasythrow1 16.5

for the final it'll be eyeofnewt who has racked up an average of 38.64 points per game in rounds 1-5 versus
horagegrant31 who has averaged 29.06 points thru rounds 1-5.

good luck to the finalists.
the contest final (for thursday night) is now live in the draftkings lobby under free contests. (100 player by 3dogshambala)

301.00 points today and ended up in 1st in my 100 person 50/50 (didn't play any GPPS today, D'OH)

one thing you could try is...
remove all teams from the player pool and add back philly only.
click on centers & wingers (click C and then shift W to display both)
your player pool should only have centers and wingers from philly now.
you can sort from there based on lines, projected scores, or value.
then select the 3 guys you're looking for and lock them in.
go back and add ALL the teams back into the player pool and run your optimizations from there.
i think that should help you out some.

round 4 of the bracket head to heads are complete and we're down to the final 4.
congrats to...

round 5 is played tuesday 2/23

please do something with this guys projections.
due to concussions, he hasn't played since 10/10/15 and may never play again.
somehow, your projections keep tossing him out there around 3 points a game.
with a 3.8 K salary, he always show up as a value play every time detroit has a game.
when you're trying to make lineups close to lock and you see this guy over and over, day after day, week after week, it makes you nuts.
i'm constantly having to re-run certain lineups because he keeps popping up.
just zero him out PLEASE!!!
maybe somewhere in the future you could have a "players council" for certain sports that meets once a week via a webinar @ gotomeeting or something where we talk about cleaning up the player pool with people who are obviously out.
(or why certain goalies are the highest projected when i have them rated as 9th best of 20 playing that day.)

also marion hossa for the blackhawks is out for about 2 weeks starting 2/15 you have him projected for 3.64 points today.

bless you my son.

so after about 100 features and requests being added in the last 6 months, i'd like to bring up skeletons again.
with nascar cranking back up and some serious MMA fights about to take place on draftkings, now is the time to think about it.
i know a full blown nascar or MMA cruncher is almost impossible because of the lack of data for the feeds.
what we brought up last summer about having the skeleton where we input our own projections and cruncher spits out the best lineup would bring joy thru-out the fantasycruncher universe.

IF NOT, could someone who's awesome at excel make a blank skeleton for nascar and MMA and post an attachment out of the goodness of your heart?

the round of 32 had some big scores last night (2/11) topped by a 62.7 from rhinoshark.
round #3 will be tuesday 2/16 and invites will be sent out on monday evening for the 16 players.

the bracket is posted here ... www.challonge.com/FANTASYCRUNCHER64NHL

What''s the use case? Is this for late swap purposes on DK?

how about when it's 8 minutes to 7pm and you've made your lineups and realize the last update on cruncher was 3:30 pm.
knowing there has been at least 7 players with an injury, the flu, or just resting that have popped up on your twitter feed since 6:30pm
you put a few early game players in and pray there is another update on cruncher after lock.

Another option would be to tie the color-coding to 5x value (using today's salary). The problem with the above suggestion (no offense to bellsofwar3) is if your 40 FP player costs $11k then GREEN really isn't so great (not even 4x). I'm guessing most of us use GREEN in our spreadsheets to indicate good stats (minutes, value, whatever). If the player logs color-coded based on ideal base value of 5x it would be quite easy to see how often a player reaches that value.

I'd suggest bright green for 5x, light green for 4x, yellow for <4x, and red for <3x.

50 thumbs up to that idea from soundofsilence. i'd love that. (not bellsofwar3 on projections, no offense)

both qualifiers are now complete and the 64th best combined score was 62.0 or greater.
the 64 player head to heads will begin on tuesday 2/9
the highest combined score for both days was 101.4 and he will get the #1 seed.

the bracket is now posted here... www.challonge.com/FANTASYCRUNCHER64NHL

if you missed out on the NHL bracket, i'm setting up one for the NBA after their all-star break.

probably because last weeks tourney didn't finish until monday (and it was a west coast event.)
sometimes players that play on a delayed monday and make good money will opt out of the next tournament because of the short turnaround time.
the guys that didn't finish too high need the money so they don't skip the next event.
sometimes you can get as many as 5 scratches in the next event with a monday finish.

i know you're asking about the NBA, but read this thread i started about hockey and see if you get a little knowledge out of it that crosses over.
https://www.fantasycruncher.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=690

over 250 invites have been sent out for the February tournament as of tonight.
here's the set-up...
qualifiers open to all on tuesday 2/2/16 and thursday 2/4/16.
the top 64 players with the highest combined scores from both dates will fill out the bracket.
once the bracket is filled in and seeds are made, i'll post a link in this thread to it, so you can follow along.
it's single elimination over 6 rounds to crown a champion.
round 1 - tuesday 2/9/16

good thing he had an off night with a 218.75
it does feel kinda good to outscore one of the best in the business at least for one night.

oh great, whatever this is, it also shows up on a "hacktrigger.com" forum after some russian translation.

thanks to everyone for playing.

do you think they'll stop doing it?
ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ... that's funny.
actually what's funny was on a short slate on draftkings i entered 2 (10) person 50/50's and if all 5 of them entered the same contest they'd either scoop the whole pool, of just get a slice of it and lose money as a group.
so they split 2 in one 50/50 and 3 played in another.

can someone please hit "update" for all other sports on NFL sundays before you start watching the games.
also, please make this russian posting crap stop.
i'm pretty sure they're trying to use it for back-linking to their site to get higher search ratings, or maybe they have viruses on those links.
either way, it's time to drop the hammer on their accounts and negate them from spamming on here.
maybe you can make posting only for subscribers and not let the "free trail' people post.
just let them contact you via support for the 5 day trial. that'll keep the "russian radio mafia" off here.
the profiles all say "joined today" when they spam this crap.
fantasy cruncher must've had a big spike in russian speaking users or they're all on free trials.

make it stop. make it stop. make it stop.

they moved the hockey game time up because of traffic involved with the arizona cards / green bay football game at night.
they wanted the hockey traffic to be done before the football traffic went nuts.

actually it's 2:05 eastern based on what vegas and draftkings has

if you are, i have a question for you...
do you and
1) dallas1fan21
2) punishow
3) ben304
4) jwildman5
all buy your lineups from somebody or are you a group that plays the exact same lineups everyday based on a group set of picks?

not that i care, i'm just really curious because most nights it's you 5 guys or a combination of the five of you in the NBA or baseball with the exact same lineup. when you guys played trains of colorado rockie stacks (at home) in baseball last season i crushed you guys more nights than you beat me, so feel free to keep doing it in baseball. i also got the best of you guys in the NBA last night an it looks like i'm doing it again tonight.
also i'm curious of how much it sucks when you finish tied for 25th (times five players) and those $1.80's become $0.36's when you tie in 50 person 50/50's?
appreciate the cash you guys are throwing out there.... peace

it's thursday 1/14 and you're looking for a cheap value play to finish up your lineup. cruncher is pretty good at value plays and bobby portis is projected at 27.3 points on draftkings and looks to have a high value number.
okey dokey, he's in 2 of my 3 50/50 lineups now.
oh, look the game went to overtime, maybe i'll get a little bump in the scoring, time to check the lineups.
oh geeeez, bobby played 8:31 and scored a big fat zero fantasy points taking only one shot and missed it.

i'm always preaching that projections are just numbers and the randomness of everything can make you come up empty some times.
i just didn't think empty meant scoring 27.3 points below your projection.
276.50 final score with a big fat zero for bobby and i still cashed. whew!!
...sigh, on to fridays action

yes!!! yes!!! yes!!!

Joy Defined
Joy isn’t like happiness which is based upon happenings or whether things are going well or not. No, joy remains even amidst the suffering. Joy is not happiness. Joy is an emotion that’s acquired by the anticipation, acquisition or even the expectation of something great or wonderful.

multiple gateway timeouts and a slow crawl from 6:40 to 7:00
fork fork fork

gratitude -- the quality of being thankful. readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.
me personally, i'm thankful for cruncher.
if someone starts a thread with thanks.... comma.... but...
maybe gratitude was not what they had in mind.
he got to try an awesome product that the pros use (and love) for a few days at no cost whatsoever.
no commas or buts, just be thankful.
and now back to my regularly scheduled programming of using this awesome tool.

so tandv73, i have a question...
the first time you went out and bought toilet paper, you must've thought it would be a good tool to clean your bum.
did you actually expect it to clean your bum for you or did you maybe think you needed to put a little work into the process yourself?
just curious because i'm not sure you understand simple concepts of well thought out tools that accomplish wonderful things if you put a little work into them.
sorry to see you go. i don't work for cruncher, i just love the product.

people seemed to have enjoyed the hockey holiday contest.
it also generated more interest in hockey which is always good.
we had over 150 different draftkings players compete in the qualifying rounds.
once again, this is for entertainment purposes only and mostly bragging rights.
i'm going to make this simple for week 1. (it's a free contest)
tuesday the 12th NHL
thursday the 14th NBA
saturday the 16th NFL
all you have to do to advance to week 2 is compete in all 3 contests. miss a contest and you don't get invited back to week 2.
for week 2...
tuesday the 19th NHL (after this contest we'll cut to the top 30 & ties and they get invites back to...
thursday the 21st NBA (after this, we'll cut to the top 15 & ties and they get invites back to the final...
sunday the 24th NFL (FINAL - top 15 invites battle it out for bragging rights)

just a reminder, if draftkings free contests don't fill, they get cancelled.
any questions?

usood89 wrote
Wow! How the hell did you put that one together?? Help a brother out!

i usually want players from a team i think will win and preferably teams playing at home.
that way the official scorer is on your side, and maybe an extra blocked shot or an assist that really wasn't an assist falls in your lap.
i really loved nashville players, ny rangers, and penguins that night.
the bad thing about nashville was hellebuyck was in net against them so i only used colin wilson on defense because he averages 2.6 points at home and for a $3,300 player, that's good value. he can pop off a 5 pt or 8 pt night every so often too.
i took 4 rangers players and 3 penguins for my other skaters because i loved those teams to win.
i have a spreadsheet on who i think will win the game and how many goals will be scored for every team and it's rated by home and away as well as schedule strength.
i see lots of chat room boards talking about using vegas lines and totals. yeah, go ahead and do that and see how crushed your bankroll gets.
vegas whacks the favorites on their lines, but that doesn't mean they're the best team.
i'm from tampa bay. vegas has them over-rated this season because they played for the stanley cup last year.
against bad teams (based on my ratings) they are only scoring about 2.2 goals a game at home.
do you want to use players from a team like that even if vegas says the're favored at -180 to win? not me!!
did you know that dallas at home averages 4.15 goals a game against bad teams (based on my ratings) and against good teams they average only 3.14 goals a game.
in november, there were 195 games, so that's 390 teams. 109 teams scored 4 goals or more in a game. (27.9 percent)
wouldn't you like to have players on teams scoring 4 goals a game? i would and i do.

i played dubnyk as my goalie for minnesota because he's way better than his won-loss record shows. minnesota stinks in the 3 on 3 overtime games and that's where his losses are adding up. against columbus who is horrible, i figured it'd never get to overtime.

so to recap, it's more about teams to narrow it down and then plug in the players from there based on salary and position.
i know that makes it sound easy, but a ton of research has led me to be able to pop out a few lineups in 20 minutes each day based on teams.
if it was based on players, the research would take hours each day and who wants to do that with a very random sport.

don't think hockey isn't mostly random, google "poisson distribution for hockey goals"
or click here and read this >>> http://www.hockeyanalytics.com/Research_files/Poisson_Toolbox.pdf

looks like me and fantasycruncher have got another one cooking tonight. tuesday 1/5/16
6.0 sidney crosby
10.5 derek stepan
3.0 patric hornqvist
8.0 rick nash
6.0 colin wilson
9.0 kris letang
5.5 keith yandle

4.5 kevin klein

59.3 total points

60 points now becomes the dark side... may the force be with me
now if they would've just had a damn hockey free-roll tonight instead of the NBA

so in the shoulda-woulda-coulda department...
i'm involved in a new small business venture and pretty much all my extra cash goes into that, but i'm still grinding 50/50's.
playing that line-up in tuesdays big tourneys on draftkings (which i didn't) would've produced...
tuesday special $20.00 buy in -- 1st place -- paid $7,000
sniper $3.00 buy in -- 2nd place -- paid $3,000
triple deke $300 buy in -- 1st place -- paid $6,000
power play $1,060 buy in -- 1st place -- paid $8,000
poke check $5 buy in -- 1st place -- paid $1,000
or a combined $1,388 buy ins and paid $25,000

yes, im a bad-a## hockey picking mo-fo, but it'll take alot for my small business to make that sort of return in one night... sigh

sadly it's happened before, but a lot of us longtime users treat it like a bad girlfriend.
sure it breaks your heart and crushes your dreams when it happens, but you love her, so you keep coming back for more and hope it doesn't happen again.

12/30 fanduel NBA

nice job taking out a legend.

tuesday 12/29 is round #6 of the holiday hockey tournament (FINAL ROUND)
top 10 players after round #5 invited back and scores are reset to zero.
winner takes all in a one night shootout.

HERE ARE THE TOP SCORES FROM THE FINALISTS...
1) 34.3 3dogshambala
2) 33.0 catmen29
3) 32.2 annadad71
4) 31.0 iceman2246
5) 29.7 s1deswipe

ok, so yes that's my draftkings ID (3dogshambala) and no this tournament wasn't rigged in my favor.
i just made the top 10 after round #5 (9th) and happened to catch a good goaltender in the final when a lot of top goaltenders played bad.
i also got 21.0 points from my 3 boston skaters as the bruins racked up 7 goals.
i did actually average 30.53 points for all 6 rounds, so i don't suck at hockey.

thanks for playing everyone and maybe we'll come up with something for january.
i'll keep you posted.

it looks like he's there and projected at zero points.
he's supposed to sit out tonights game as rest (no injuries, just resting)

you look at the projected score for c.j. mccollum and see 40.0 which is much better than the 33.5 average rating.
so i guess fantasycruncher thinks he'll have a good night.

uhmmnnn yeah... he uncorks a 74.25 point night and i had him in all my cash game lineups thanks to you guys.
312.75 total on draftkings in 50/50's... cha-ching

thanks again guys

as far as the filter settings...
if you were into hockey, you could go to lineup rewind and track 15-20 days of past results.
click on the actual score column and sort the top 10 centers, wingers, & defenseman by highest score that night.
do 7 of the top 10 have a value rating above a certain number consistantly?
do 7 of the top 10 have a consistency rating above a certain number consistanly?
you'll find low salary players in hockey can outscore superstars nightly, but other sports do a 7 of 10 thing.
do 7 of the top 10 have a projected range rating above a certain number?
load all of that into a spreadsheet (or longhand on paper which takes a lot longer) and after 20 days you'd have 200 centers, wingers, and defensemen that were the top scorers of the night, and then you can see what settings you can adjust your filters too safely.

never follow the ratings from anywhere blindly and double check for out of whack stuff.
rotowire had a hoops player projected at 93 points or something with a salary under $4k.
if you just hit optimal lineup blindly, he'd be in every lineup you had because of a glitch in their projections.
glitches cost people tons of money, so get your settings where you're comfortable and then spend time on looking for things out of whack.

1) when you say you have a system and it's yielded you profits, does that mean long term profits or "i cash sometimes but i'm mostly down"?
2) what sport(s) are you playing (hockey, hoops, football)?
3) fanduel, draftkings, both, other?
4) do you have any idea what value is? for a 30 point score in draftkings hockey, you need 0.6 points for every $1k in salary
5) do your "stars" in the lineup under perform often or do your low priced players?
6) have you read the "get better at hockey in 15 days -15 tips" thread on page 2 of the "everything else" forum in here. i wrote it for hockey, but there is stuff that helps all sports.

there are a lot of guys with a lot of knowledge in here, (some share and most don't) but you'll need to be much more specific with your questions.

bragging rights and a fantasycruncher t-shirt to the winner.

it's 6:08 eastern monday and still no pittsburgh goalie.
vegas lists matt murray as probable starter.
rotowire lists him as projected at 2.5 points on draftkings which is too low. (which is why i use fantasycruncher)
a win is worth 3.0 points and theyr'e listed at -140 in vegas so that's a win probability of 58.3 percent.

only made 3 lineups for saturday 12/19 on draftkings, but fantasycruncher helped me uncork a score of 49.50

we'll cut to the top 25 in accumulated points after round 4.
25th place is approximately 80.5 points at first glance at 2am in the morning
we have players with good scores that only played in 2 of the 3 rounds that are in the top 25, so don't miss round #4 on thursday the 17th.

so if you want to track 00oreo00 run at the millymaker on 12/14... $1 million to first place.
he's in 1st with the monday night game still to play...

good luck oreo.

update @ 11:20 eastern

odell beckham crushes hopes and dreams of everyone who was in the top 10 before the night started.

so the 6:50pm eastern projection still had him at 2.50 points on draftkings.
he's at home where he's 8-2-1 in his last 11 games
the vegas line is chicago -185 so it's a 65 percent chance of a chicago win
he's got a 1.82 goals against average
the cruncher average has him at 5.0
the only other time that cruncher has had him less than 3 points projected this season was when they played winnepeg.
(who they play tonight) he won that game also.

something is out of whack
please check to see if someone hit the "winninpeg is the most awesome team ever" button or the crawford projections got swapped for some scrub goalie somehow.
thanks.
yes i know i can change the projections myself. i'm just letting someone know to look into it.

in case you have "happy fingers" like i do, when you're on a computer and the mouse is hovered on a players line, any accidental click on the mouse will de-select that player.
that may be why you're losing players.
it happens to me almost daily, but it's accidental mouse clicks for me.

the big guns came out on thursday with Annadad71 leading the way posting a 52.0 score.

SCORING UPDATE AFTER 12/8 TUESDAY (round 1)
everyone that played on tuesday the 8th will still get to play 3 more rounds and accumulate scores. (see post #1)

25) 34.9 jrich625

this contest is not affiliated with fantasycruncher.com however they are kind enough to spring for cruncher t-shirt to the winner.
play on tuesday the 8th and thursday the 10th
again on tuesday the 15th and thursday the 17th.
play all 4 days and accumulate scores to make the top 25 in points after 4 rounds.
tuesday the 22nd we'll invite the top 25 players and points will keep adding up from the 1st 4 rounds added to round 5.
then the top 10 after round 5 get invited for a winner take all score on the 29th.
this is for bragging rights mainly but i'm trying to get some interest in hockey as football winds down.
dave (the other dave) was kind enough to give out a cruncher t-shirt to the winner.

if anybody missed out, i may try and do something again in january.

scoring updates will be posted on this thread as the tournament progresses.

Bankroll management.

Play 100 days then review.

this is probably the best advice ever written on here.
all you football players need to wait maybe 5 years to analyze what works at 20 contests a season.
my best baseball system won 63.5 percent of it's 50/50's (playing every night all season long) but still had a string of 7 nights in a row without cashing.
if you're just getting started and have 5 winning nights in a row, don't forget what goes up must come down.

so based on post #4, shouldn't there be zero PMR? (player minutes remaining)
remember the guy that photoshopped his screen shot earlier in the year trying to get a free lifetime?

ohhhh so close this time.
90 out of 100 entries... cancelled again.
maybe next time.

late sunday update...
171.56 with 2 players left on monday. is that any good at all since i don't play football hardly ever?

so the sunday night NFL t-shirt contest is about 35 people short with less than 9 hours until lock.
as a gambler (errr... skill based game player) i'm thinking this goes under the 100 entries and doesn't fill again.
i'm hoping it does, but maybe next time just make it a 50 person contest and ask for screen names to be emailed to you.
draftkings lets you invite people using screen names without having to spam everyone's email in-box.
if you get 35 screen names make it a 50 person tournament. if you only get 22 screen names, make it a 35 person tournament.
i make a 25 person free hockey league almost every single night on draftkings so i can track my "experimental" hockey line-ups that i watch for 20 consecutive days.
those 25 person free leagues fill every time. partly because people see it, know it'll fill and select that league over joe schmoes.

i'm thinking of doing a fans of fantasy cruncher holiday hockey grind-down.
compete for 6 nights in december and keep accumulating scores to see who's the best hockey grinder.
tuesday the 8th & thursday the 10th
tuesday the 15th & thursday the 17th
chop it down to the top 15 players based on accumulated points, then they play...
tuesday the 22nd. no games on the 24th
and tuesday the 29th to crown the champion.
all scores keep accumulating thru the 29th.

pretty much for bragging rights and no cash or prizes. (if cruncher wants to throw in a t-shirt, that's up to them)
you will be able to see who's consistently good at hockey and maybe reverse engineer their lineups to make you a better player.
anyway, i thought it'd be fun to improve hockey visibility and get some of that "football's almost over - now what?" money over to the hockey side.
draftkings has "smack talk' sections on their tournament pages and i'll accidentally post '"see tournament standings on fantasycruncher.com"
(i don't think that violates draftkings terms of service) i said i'll post accidentally.
i'm going to post the hockey thing in another thread monday morning after i think about it some more and get some feedback on here.

have a great day and fill up that football tournament.

i cashed $1.80 in a $1.00 50/50 on draftkings hockey tonight..... i'm rich!! LOL
good thing i read that "get better at hockey in 15 days - 15 tips" post in another thread.

had all my 50/50's with howard in goal for detroit until cruncher updated about 15 minutes until lock.
got on the dubnyk bandwagon just in time to swap out all of the lineups.
a 10.6 draftkings point shutout win with a 7.5k goalie.
i knew the fantasy gods were going to swing back our way this week.
thanks dave!!! (other dave)

add him in and change the projections please
you've also got minnesota and dubnyk rated as the least projected goalie, but vegas has them at -230 which is almost a lock to win the game.

I have high hope this week we won't have any issues, or any issues going forward.

i still have faith in you and your company dave.
and to that a-ho%# attorney general in new york, i'll quote winston churchill...
this is not the end, this is not even the beginning of the end, this is just the end of the beginning.
i'm hoping for daily fantasy to be around forever.

you're right.
wow that's ugly.
reimer still isn't 100% and bernier is 0-8-1 in 9 starts this season so they'll use him as the backup to the guy that draftkings doesn't have listed yet.

garret sparks is listed as probable by vegas for monday

we've been beaten and battered the last 10 days by people trying to slow down or crash this site.
some of us have now changed when we eat, so as not to be interrupted because we're now researching and entering lineups earlier to beat the disrupters time clocks.
well now eating dinner after 6:00 lock tonight on sunday caught me right in the middle of carmelo anthony getting scratched while eating.
my big fat zero points instead of an average 40 on draftkings flushed all of my 50/50's down the tubes.
all we're asking for from the fantasy gods is a fair fight.
a little help this week with divine intervention to the good side would be appreciated.
and now back to our regularly scheduled programming.

he got helped off the court friday and did not return. (knee)
that's probably why cruncher has him projected at zero points. (i don't work for cruncher so i'm not sure if that's why)
he's listed as probable today from las vegas.
type him into the search box and change his projected points and you should be ok.

just did a ton of hockey work from 12:30 to 12:50 eastern on friday and didn't see any slowdowns or crashes so far.

once my 50/50's fill n draftkings, you can't back out of them.
i ended up using rotowires basic algorithm which doesn't let you select players.
i threw 2 hoops and 2 hockey lineups together and jammed them all into my 50/50's
it's like flipping coins and going "heads" really, i'm taking "that guy"
still love YOUR product when it's running at top speeds.

6:24 pm eastern until about 7:10 eastern for me on wednesday 11/25.
i'm actually able to get on the forum, but lineup cruncher is still in a death spiral.
happy thanksgiving!!

first off, where'd you get $30 a month?
my rate is lower than that, but maybe i'm locked in at a lower rate because i've been a subscriber for awhile.
to some of us, it's worth so much more in terms of time saved, headaches that are eliminated, and ease of use.
if you compare projections across different sports, which i did earlier this year for baseball and basketball, fantasy cruncher stacks up real well against projections from rotowire, basketball monster, and numberfire.
you also get to load in your own projections, which is easy to do.
if you want it to pick all of your players and win lots of money without doing any research and adjusting some things, then you may be disappointed.
lots of people are constantly asking for more features and the staff does a good job of trying to please everyone.
you should give it a shot for at least 2 months and i think you'll be happy that you did.

you can't win if the contest doesn't fill because it won't exist after "lock"
i may or may not have been crushing it, but no one can tell now.

just wondering if these posts are set to greenwich mean time or universal time when they pop out.
i'm reading sangmac's post about server problems and it says 18:33. it's 18:12 east coast time right now as i post this.
i didn't have any problems server-wise today, but maybe we should put what time we had issues so you can check server logs.

so far so good on the new server for me.
no interruptions at all.
smooth sailing from 6:20 eastern up thru 7:40 eastern on 11/16
hey cruncher staff, how about a t-shirt free roll contest for all those affected.

thanks for the quick response dave.
as a small business owner, i know stuff happens when you least expect it.
i know people lost their minds for a few minutes, but rotowire's server crashed hard on opening night of nba for over 30 minutes also.
thanks for taking care of your customers, i appreciate it.

holy moly. doing this long-hand sucks because an MMA skeleton doesn't exist yet, but dang...
villante 112.5 pts
walsh 71.5
mathews 103.0
noke 114.5
holm 94.0
total points 495.5
combined salary $49.9k
now of course i got lucky with holm being the lowest salary and using her because of it.
she shocked the world, but the cash still spends the same way.
lots of big mma cards coming up.
i guess i'll have to find someone who can make an excel optimizer for all my data. (see post #1)

i forced him into my line-ups on 11/14 anyway, but it says "null" in the line column.
i assumed it was because the projection was so low. (0.28)
i didn't change "my projections" because i wanted him in anyway for $2,600 since he was on the #1 line.
half-way thru the 3rd period he's got 8 draftkings points.
value, value, value

what causes a "null"?

as a reminder, there is a sunday NBA game at noon when a bazillion NFL crunches will be happening.
i'd appreciate it if all of you NFL'ers would let me get my NHL stuff done around 7pm monday before you jam up monday night football.
thanks... just kidding (not really) let me get my hockey done, just wait a little while PLEASE!!
seriously, like 10 minutes of non server crashing peace on monday around 7pm eastern... thanks again LOL

on 11/12 i kept getting server errors from about 6:59 pm eastern to about 7:04.
today on 11/13 i was getting them from about 6:40 up until about 6:58
using a pc with chrome.
i got everything in but added about 50 grey hairs.
at some point when this thing gets around 157 bells and whistles that everyone wants, sign me up for the one that has about 12 bells and whistles from about 5 months ago that ran fast and lean.
still love your product, just a little worried.

keep up the good work cruncher staff

i'm always searching for value when putting lineups together.
i use multiple websites for projections and look for something out of the ordinary.
since i'm most profitable in hockey, i don't spend a lot of time on nba lineups and look for things that jump off the page during research.
one of the sites had Dewayne Dedmon projected much higher than all the other sites.
a quick check and good ole Dewayne was a $3,000 (draftkings) center for Orlando who was averaging about 16 minutes a game.
Vucevic, the starting center for Orlando got hurt earlier in the week and now on friday night (11/6) Dedmon's minutes were going to increase dramatically.
on draftkings you'd like your players to get 5 points for every $1k dollars in salary. $50k times 5 pts. = 250 actual points.
so he gets 22 (fantasy points) on friday night which come out to 7.33 pt.s per $1k in salary which is what a value play looks like.
i think his salary is now bumped to 3,800 from 3,000 for saturday so now he's not as big as a value play.

had i not looked at multiple sites searching for bargains, i wouldn't have found this one.
that lineup for me scored 324.50 on draftkings, so the research paid off.
good luck bargain shoppers.

well, fantasy cruncher pounded some nails on draftkings in basketball last night 11/2/15.
my #1 system scored 297.75 points and system #2 scored 295.50
that cashed every 50/50 i was in and would've cashed all triple ups i'd have played (but i didn't)
how does that score stack up in other contests?
rotogrinders has a "contest links page" where they have links to all the bigger contests in one spot.
see it here ... https://rotogrinders.com/threads/daily-fantasy-tournament-links-monday-november-2nd-939102
(you have to be logged into draftkings to see the contest pages)

in the contests below, i did not play in them, i'm just using them for reference
$5 double up cashed for $10
$10 double up cashed for $20
$25 double up cashed for $50
$50 double up cashed for $100
$1 one on one cashed for $6
$2 layup cashed for $12
$9 skyhook cashed for $35
$50 windmill cashed for $200
$1,060 allstar cashed for $3,000

as always, i'll state that i'm a fan of the product and i don't work for fantasycruncher, but this is great tool that can help you cash some tickets.
be patient rookies and try not to destroy your bankrolls in short periods of time.
the good scores will come with gaining knowledge and constantly learning to get better.
the moral of this story
it's simple but it's true
hey the stars might lie
but the numbers never do
i feel lucky today

so who knows what would've happened since it doesn't exist now.

just so you know, i don't work for them, i just love the product.
please let some of us fans of this product know what site you play on and what sport you're playing.
we'll keep using the product that we love and we'll invite you to play head to heads against us.
this is a tool to use like a hammer pounding nails.
some people use it like a hammer trying to polish a glass window.
let us know about those head to heads... we'll bring the hammers.

getting better and making money are 2 different things.
you can learn a lot playing free games the rest of the year and bank that "doubled my deposit money" until next year.
speaking of small sample sizes, that's what football is. only a sample size of 20 weeks total.
over an entire baseball season playing 50/50's, i cashed in 63.7 percent of the games i played in.
that's a nice big sample size to draw from.
i did have a 7 day stretch where i lost money every day for 7 days straight, but because i'm in it for the long haul, i did just fine.
since you're "still learning" ask yourself if you'd be fine losing the next 7 weeks in a row. where'd that "doubled my deposit money go?"
bad streaks happen to all of us. people "learning" can get crushed, give up and never play DFS again.
i'm a huge fan of fantasy cruncher (i don't work for them) so i'll tell you to try it for the rest of the season.
let's say you make your picks from a certain pool of players, play those like you normally would and then set up fantasycruncher to use the exact same player pool that you used and see how they score. you can "uncheck" players from the pool using cruncher, or eliminate all of them and load back in the ones you used for your picks. you'll probably find an increase in points scored over the rest of the season.
going back to the 1st thought, playing for free and playing for your hard earned money are different psychologically, so maybe play free games for the next 4-5 weeks.
that way while you get better and see if you like fantasycruncher, you'll still have the bankroll to finish out the season.
good luck and good learning.

is it just me or is that commercial with the song "final countdown" rolling around in your head and you can't make it stop?
so i wasn't using fantasycruncher last NBA season and everyone on here seems to have done quite well using it last year.
since i have spreadsheets of stats on my nightly scores for different systems i use, i decided to compare notes using lineup rewind.
now, it's a small sample using april regular season and 1st round of the playoffs but...
the median score for my top system was 260.25 on draftkings during that time frame.
after running lineup rewind with my mix of players on fantasycruncher the median score was 266.40
6 points is a huge improvement even on the sample size.
i'm looking forward to good things this season.
keep up the good work cruncher team!!

20 different entries using optimizer last night...20 cashes.

winning is so much fun.
on tuesday night 10/20 one of my optimizer lineups scored 52.4 points on draftkings.

so instead of posting seperate groups of tips in blocks of 3, i condensed them all into the original post.
that way they aren't so spread out and if you wanted to print them, they'll all be in one spot.
copy and paste is such a wonderful tool.
has anybody researched anything yet?

on tuesday night he was $2,500 on DK and i needed a cheap defenseman in one of my lineups.
on rotowire's projections he was listed as their #2 value play overall, so i threw him in because he was listed on the #2 power play line also.
cha-ching!!
2 goals and a blocked shot for 7.5 points at a salary of $2,500
i was the only person in my 50/50 that used him based on ownership %
maybe i should tell you to NOT add him for a few days and keep it a secret.

as far as research, you can click on the players link and it opens up a window with the past games with the projections and actual points scored.
it has color codes on if this was a good day based on value or bad day. at a glance you can see if this player has under-performed for 5 or 6 games in a row or over-performed. there is alot of info with this product if you just dig in.
somewhere in all of these threads, i did a study for about a month of baseball comparing numberfire, rotowire, and fantasycruncher.
it was based on each sites "top 4" projected points and top 4 value plays.
fantasycruncher was clearly better on both counts based on the research i did.

i'm pretty sure the "secret sauce" involves a combination of mayonnaise and thousand island dressing with a dash of salt.
although i could be wrong... keep up the good work fantasy cruncher staff, i love your product.
oh by the way, if anyone used rotowires hockey optimizer yesterday, you got goalies on the bench getting all the projected points while the 2 starters were projected at less than 1.0 points. what kind of "sauce" were they using at rotowire yesterday?

oh, i get the point.
not a word has been brought up about the same "inside information" that exists for other things.
let's say that some draftkings employees have a record of head 2 head games in the database.
you know that info is rattling around somewhere.
let's say someone with the handle rookie01 is now 6 wins and 37 losses into his baseball experiment.
since the draftkings employee with this info can play on fanduel (before today) he
suddenly notices that rookie01 also plays on fanduel account and has a head 2 head in the lobby.
the draftkings employee clicks on it and for a dollar finds out that it's probably the same person because the line-ups are almost similar (even with the different salary numbers and only one pitcher.
so for a dollars worth of research, that draftkings employee can now troll the lobby and make sure he scoops up games against rookie01.
let's say him or one of his buddies gets to play rookie01 for the next 43 head 2 heads and suddenly wins the same amount as rookie01 had been losing before. 37 wins - 6 losses in 43 games... a winning percentage of 86 percent
cashes $66.60 from $43 played for a return on investment of 1.54 or 54 percent
ok, so now they know that worked. don't you think they'd try and find more fish on that head to head list from research and make it their life's mission to just troll head to head matchups at night (or at least have their freinds do it.)
all fair and legal in the minds of draftkings and fanduel (ahem, before today)
if some reporter digs into that cluster, this whole time table gets moved up a notch i think.

have i thought stuff like that could happen for awhile... yep.
doesn't change that i still want to play and i can still make some money at this myself and have some fun.
it also doesn't change the fact that the big lawyers, attorney generals, and judges who will argue this stuff in court will also play $10, 20, or 100 a hole gambling on the golf course while discussing if this "no good fantasy stuff is gambling and we can't have that"
well judge, ya know, we just gambled about $200 on golf holes while discussing this fantasy stuff.
that wasn't gambling, golf is a game of skill. LOL

for newbies looking to try hockey, here are some tips...
hopefully, by november you'll be a little more educated.
#1 try and do what winners do.
are they organized more than other players? yep.
now, you don't need 17 spreadsheets of every little thing, but maybe a spiral notebook to keep track of stuff wouldn't hurt.
alot of newbies pick players with 15 minutes to lock and have no clue what they're doing to fill the last couple slots.
winners know exactly what to do at crunch time because they have notes on what works and what doesn't.
during the playoffs in hockey, i trusted projections from rotowire and got burned badly the 1st couple playoff days because their projections included players that weren't on playoff rosters. i started looking at my line ups of players that had zero points and found that they weren't even on the roster for that round of the playoffs. after a few days of that, i had a list of low priced players that i could use instead of someone else projections i trusted.

#2 do your own research. having the fantasycruncher tool is awesome, but remember it's a tool and not a god given right to print money by using it's projections. (i don't work for them, i just love their product) over the summer, i tracked baseball projections from fantasycruncher, rotowire, numberfire, last 10 game stat averages, home/away averages, and a few more to see what was best and what sucked
as an example for today... setting up my tracking of goalies for 10/7/15 number fire doesn't even have ramo for calgary listed in goal on their projections and it's 2:00 eastern. if you use the calgary goalie they have listed, you're sunk.
keeping track of stuff like that for a month will let you know who to trust and who or what to always double check before making your final roster decisions.

#3 spend 30 days tracking goalies. if you want to get better, start tracking some data.
how does rotowires best 3 projected goalies stack up against something from rotogrinders, or the top 3 goalies based on vegas lines.
is the best value goalie actually any good? track it for 30 days and maybe the projections say 3.9 points with a low salary goalie, but you find out that half the time you're only getting about 2.4 points and some days that value goalie gets you negative points on draftkings.

#4 google "last change rule in hockey"
if there is a stoppage in play and then the big salaried offensive players you used are on the road, the home team gets "last change" to match up their best defensive line against your studs to crush your hopes and dreams of a nice point total. some times the #2 road team offensive line gets alot more fantasy points than the #1 line because they'll end up against the lesser home defensive line.

#5 go nuts and try and enter 50 different actual lineups. i hear people always saying "the pros enter tons of lineups, someday i'll be like them."
ok, pick a night and just enter 50 free head to heads or 50/50's. the amount of stress from checking injuries, starting goalies, and who is even in the starting lineup can drive you nuts on just a few rosters let alone 50. now take that stress and just think of it multiplied times 180 nights over a 6 month period. sometimes your best lineup or maybe 3 to 5 of your best can ease the stress load.
try the 50 and see if your heart can take it and see what scores you get based on missing injuries or whatever right before lock time.

#6 the devil invented higher rake. gpp's are usually 13-17 percent. double ups are usually 13 percent, while 50/50's and head to heads are 10 percent. people have no clue how much this can drain your bankroll over time. it's like someone named "50/50" orders something on amazon.com and pays $10 for shipping and handling while someone named "double up" pays $13 for shipping and handling on the same product, over time that money is going to add up. don't be afraid to play mostly 50/50's and keep the extra change in your pocket and not draftkings.

#7 finding values.
i like to pay up for top 5 goalies each time, so i'm looking to save some salary space when i can.
for centers the other night we had sydney crosby who figured to be highly owned at $7,500 salary.
i saw kyle turris projected at about the same points with a $5,500 salary.
turris plays on ottawa who was favored by vegas to win the game over buffalo, while crosby's team was not.
winning teams score more than losing teams as they say.
as i looked at my goalie rankings, i saw buffalo's goalie was last of all 14 teams that night. (advantage ottawa)
i locked in kyle turris and had a good value play at center with high scoring chances and saved $2,000 in salary with a little digging.
as it turned out, turris got me 8 points while crosby got a not so good 1 point for his users.
stuff like this happens all the time if you just spend a few minutes more to find value instead of just taking studs and then using scrubs to fill out a few slots because you ran out of salary.

#8 vegasinsider.com
they have all the vegas lines as well as probable goalies.
on their matchups page today (saturday 10/10) tampa bay/ buffalo was the early game with an over under set at 5.5
i quick look before lock showed the betting trends had 75% of the money on tampa bay and 65% on the over.
would info like that sway your mind while filling out lineups? it helps me.
on the teams page, you can see the full schedule at a glance.
i always want to know if a team is playing back to back nights or 2 games in 3 days with travel.
i write down upcoming situations where you get a rested home team against a tired road team.
>> on the home page of vegasinsider if you scroll all the way down to the bottom right hand corner, you'll see "rotation schedules"
click on that and you'll get what is printed by sports books for their gamblers.
it has each game, each night with room to put scores and vegas lines in it.
this is in pdf format which can go straight to a printer if you're hooked up to one.
october 7th all the way thru novermber 11th is what's available now.

#9 teams don't win games by scores of 3.26 to 2.49
another thing about gambling and research is that everyone gets prediction happy and trusts the averages that get spit out.
as the season rolls along, people's projections end up looking like 3.26 to 2.49.
on vegasinsider, it's easy to see after half a season that your team on the road (let's say 20 games) has 10 games where they scored 1 goal or less and 10 where they scored 2 or more. let's say they crushed 2 teams 7-1 and 8-5 on the road.
those averages of the big scores jack up that road scoring average whereas knowing 10 times of 20 games, they scored 1 goal or less is a better representation of what they might do tonight against a good team with a top 5 goaltender and their on their 2nd game in back to back nights.
i know this sounds like alot of working keeping track of all this, but instead of spending saturday night watching hockey in a sports bar with a plateful of chicken wings and a girl with big boobs behind a bar, spend one of them every once in awhile at home in a nice quiet room where you can concentrate on getting better at fantasy hockey.

#10 what the heck is a decision tree?
well, it's a thought process that helps you narrow down the stats that matter.
on youtube, search "decision tree 1 how it works" by victor lavrenko and watch it for 10 minutes
or click here... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eKD5gxPPeY0
the problem they use is if someone will play tennis on that day based on certain variables.
so now let's say you took fantasy crunchers top 15 projected points players and their top projected value players each day for 2 weeks.
the next day you look up the actual points scored on lineup rewind.
make a decision tree and start sorting with questions for branches...
did the best of the 15 players play at home or on the road?
did they play on the power play?
did they play against a team whose vegas projected goals score was in the bottom half of all the teams playing?
after tracking that for awhile you'll notice stats you thought were good to use aren't nearly as good as others.
as an example during baseball, fantasycruncher was way better than my numbers on value hitters of $3,500 or less.
after i did a decision tree on some things i found out that the big difference was that a little less than half of my value hitters were in batter slots 6-9.
if you look at the top value plays for cruncher in baseball (that score 8 points a night which is great for a sub $3,500 salary) pretty much all of them are in batter slots 1-5.
sometimes you just don't know what has been staring you in the face for a long time and you didn't realize it.
now i'm a decision tree making son of a gun.

#11 need lineups & goalies with salaries along with vegas over-unders with projected goals scored?
how about what lines they play on including power plays?
go here... https://rotogrinders.com/lineups/nhl?site=draftkings

#12 rotogrinders also has more resources to check our here... https://rotogrinders.com/offers/nhl?site=draftkings
take a peak at their daily skater hub, nhl team stats, and vegas odds & lines page (with projected goals that are sort-able)
lots of good stuff to look at or get lost into. data overload can get tricky.
that's another reason that tip #10 is valuable while sorting thru what data is worth something or not.

#13 using averages or using mid-ranges?
here's what my actual points scored by my #1 projected goalie look like thru the 1st 10 days.
6.2 0.6 5.0 2.2 7.2 -2.6 11.2 7.8 7.0 9.2
this averages out to 5.38 points per game.
the salary used was $77,500 for 10 days to average 7.75K per day
remember these are strictly draftkings numbers (not fanduel)
so aiming for a 30.0 score at $50k salary, you want to get 0.6 points for every 1k you use in salary.
7.75k times 0.6 pts. equals 4.65 points your golie needs to score per night with that average salary.
well, the average looks good for me because i'm averaging 5.38 per night.
let's look at the mid-range instead of the average by sorting the scores top to bottom...
11.2 9.2 7.8 7.2 7.0 6.2 5.0 2.2 0.6 -2.6
so 5 times in 10 nights, my goalie got me 7.0 points or higher and 5 nights it got 6.2 or lower.
also 7 of 10 times it got me above the 4.65 points needed to "be above value" based on projections.
just for reference, 5 salaries were from 7.1k to 7.5k and 5 were 7.7k to 8.4k
sometimes averages don't give you the clearest picture on what's going on.

#14 more thoughts on value, value, value...
so for me, those goalie salaries will stay about the same all year long because i pay up for good goalies.
with that in mind, on draftkings that leaves me with 8 players left to pick and i'm hoping to get over 25 points from about 42.5k in salary which brings it under the 0.6 points per $1k spent line.
go back and look at tip #7 where i saved $2k in salary on my center instead of taking sydney crosby that night.
if you can find 2 to 3 value plays every night to plug into your lineup especially someone under $3k and one from 3k to 5k, you'll be able to use alot of the players you want in lineups and won't get shut out on salary cap limits.
fantasycruncher has a column with value based on their projected points totals.
if you haven't used the changeable projection numbers, notice what a 3.5 points value is and then change that projected number to 8.0 and then see the value number jump up. when you change your projected value fields, the values change automatically.
keep track on if the player you want is a value of 0.40 instead of someone who might be rated at 0.80.
remember that on draftkings a value of 0.6 points per 1k in salary will get you a score of 30.0 points on the night. (which will give you the cashes you'll need to stay ahead in the game)

#15 try and learn a little bit from everyone. don't just take one guys word for it.
try different things and research one or two new things each month if you have time. (or 10, LOL)
last hockey season, i didn't even start playing daily hockey until about late february.
i learned alot and kept my head above water and spent time over the off season looking up different things that may relate fantasy hockey to fantasy baseball.
so far thru the 1st 10 days of hockey "last years best system" got me nightly scores of...
42.2 33.5 27.8 26.2 28.4 43.7 18.7 29.5 29.6 17.2
my newer improved system came up with nightly scores of...
31.7 30.5 29.8 39.2 38.9 28.7 29.2 35.0 21.6 42.2
of the 1st 10 nights, the new system scored more on 6 of 10 nights.
old system scored 29.5 or higher on 5 nights and 28.4 or lower on 5 nights
new system scored 31.7 or higher on 5 nights and 30.5 or lower on 5 nights
old system had five 50/50 cashes in 10 nights.
new system had eight 50/50 cashes in 10 nights.
never stop learning and never stop trying new things.
i will say that i was using rotowires optimizer along with my research last season.
now i'm using fantasycruncher and it has helped with my research and time spent looking up things.

i hope you guys are finding some of this useful.
as mary chapin-carpenter once sang...
the stars might lie, but the numbers never do, i feel lucky today

let me take a whack at this...
in order to be a better daily player i got jonathan bales book "fantasy baseball" for smart people."
in it you'll find over 100 pages of "insider trading" information from the research department from draftkings.
you'll get...
average scores of 50/50's for $1, $5, and higher limits (although my own 2015 stats are higher than his 2014 research)
ALWAYS DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH KIDS!!
average scores of gpp's
average points of a #1 hitter in the lineup, or #2, or #3 etc...
average points scored from each team played in a whole season.
average points scored from each stadium
the freeking data is amazing
can WE use that info after buying the book? why yes we can.

so now you get someone who says "his book says i can make money if i can do better than 101 points in baseball 50/50's because that's what the draftkings research tell us."
well, sparky, you probably lost money on baseball in 2015 based on that inside information.
nobody would call a loser like that, someone playing a "rigged" game.

it takes information
it takes luck
and it takes jumbo coconut balls to put your money down based on someone elses information.
he got info, he got lucky, he got paid.
i'm pretty sure that people will spend 20 hours whining about stuff like that with their buddies instead of taking 20 hours to get better at...
1) picking line-ups
2) knowing what the "points to cash" numbers" are and can you be better than that
3) knowing that fantasycruncher is more reliable at projecting batter scores at less than $3,500 salary that rotowire
4) knowing that numberfire pitching projections are the worst of the 5 systems i track.

i'm still going to play, i'm still going to get better at the sports i play, and most of all, i'm still going to profit AND HAVE FUN along the way.

and now back to our regularly scheduled programming

Replied To: NHL Score?

1

i only kept track of "points to cash" in 50/50's for the last 26 days of the nhl regular season.
(basically because i didn't think of it until then) i just kept track of my actual scores from different systems.
anyway, the mid-range was 27.2 for 26 days. those are from the biggest slates available.
(all day, or using 7 night game slate instead of a 3 game afternoon slate on weekends.
the lowest score that still cashed was a 24.0 on a slate where most games were final scores of 2-1 or 1-0.

triple ups came in with a mid-range needed of 36.7
i don't have any scores for ppgs.
these are draftkings scores only.

p.s. this information does NOT make me an insider trading type of guy, nor if you use this information does it make you one either.
so everybody calm the freek down.

about 6:30 pm eastern... so a great night ahead for MMA fans.
it seems kinda weird that the lock for all MMA contests is 7:00 pm eastern time on Draftkings, when UFC.com has times listed for 1st bout at 6:30.
offshore gambling lines have 1st bout starting soon.
maybe television coverage starts at 6:30, but fight won't start until 7:00

and here we go.... OH MY GOD!! the fight starts before lock.
hey wait, the fight is over and you can still log onto Draftkings and make lineup changes.
heck, you can still enter a contest because it's not 7:00 eastern time.
so basically if you're watching, the first fight is over and you know who won and can log in and get the 1st fight correct.

THIS IS GONNA BE A NIGHTMARE FOR DRAFTKINGS!!

oooops, Draftkings says.... our bad.... refunds for all... it's like the night doesn't exist.
an email is sent to players announcing an error and "we'll give you a $10,000 free-roll entry"
twitter, chat rooms and rotogriders explode with venom, hatred, and a lynch mob heading to Draftkings headquarters.

in a boardroom somewhere, a draftkings spokesperson says "hey have you seen our new commercials?"

GEEEEEEZUS, this will be interesting to see how this all plays out.

bumping this back into the stream of consciousness.
the pay per view this saturday should be a good one.

you can give people great information and they'll still figure out a way to botch it.
even if you know the picks are making money, when you see a lineup that says "ollie sneiderjans" or whatever his name is, alot of people still won't pull the trigger and put him in.
then after the tournament is over, you see he had a top 20 and is minus 7 and then the NOOOOOOOOOOOOO screams become louder.
someone like me is still chanting YES, YES, YES

so as an avid user who loves what you guys have done, here are my thoughts on golf...

1) gee i hope they have golf some day
2) yay, they've made a golf cruncher.
3) i'll track it awhile to see if their algorithm is any good before putting money on the line
4) from 7/16 to 8/13 over 5 weeks, your top 50 projected lineups go 153W - 97L with 61.2 percent hit rate based on my 50/50 cash lines on draftkings
5) time to put some money into this newfangled golf product
6) from 8/20 to 9/24 over the next 5 weeks, your top 50 projected go 152W - 98L for a 60.8 hit rate.
7) cha-ching... well worth the time and effort with an ROI at 1.094

for those who want to backtest their lineups, here are the "points needed to cash" lines on 50/50 games from my averages. yours may vary.
7/16 365 points
7/23 392.5
7/30 428.5
8/6 374.25
8/13 460.75
8/20 431.75
8/27 361.75
9/4 323.0
9/17 451.0
9/24 397.0

so there are big variances in points needed to cash each week in golf.
also big swings in wins and losses...
on 8/6 tourney it hit 47W - 3L
on 8/20 tourney it had 11W - 39L
if you have bankroll and some stones, it's a fun roller coaster ride

thanks a bunch to you guys at fantasycruncher

from 2:45 eastern to lock at 3:05 i couldn't get anything to make the game show up.
wanted scherzer and maybe a value play for the "all day" draftkings slate.
did i miss something?

also, i can't get the lineup rewind for 9/27 on DK baseball to select player.
all player boxes show up as unchecked and if you hit "select all" it doesn't do anything for me.

maybe my computer needs an exorcism.

so for the whiner crybabies out there, this tool is awesome so quit crying and try and learn something.
let's say you take a few minutes each day and write down rotowires top 4 projected hitters and their 4 best value plays.
then you write down numberfires and fantasycrunchers.
now obviously the top projected points batters are going to cost alot more than the value plays, so does it become cost effective to chase the big bats?
my brief study for august... top 4 projected hitters and top 4 value hitters
rotowire top 4 batters 9.43 points average per player / top 4 value 6.53 points average
numberfire 10.96 / 6.72
fantasycruncher 11.09 / 10.30

wait, what? guys like gyorko, nava, blanco, jankowski, smolinski, and altherr can be used to cash in 50/50's instead of names like trout, encarnacion, donaldson, and cabrera over and over again.
holy crap, then i can afford pitchers like kershaw and even some guy named jake arrieta who can throw a no hitter and get you massive pitching points.
this fantasy cruncher thing must be awesome... or i could've listened to the whiners and think about not buying the product.
good thing i did sign up because it helps alot and it makes the research so much easier.

look, you have about a month left in baseball. do a little research and you'll be amazed.
take it from a happy subscriber, you'll cash more tickets.
peace, and may the force be with you...

about mid july i started entering 5 free head to heads on draftkings mma games so i could have scores from every fighter.
some nights on cash 50/50's not every fighter is used, so i wanted to start tracking everyone for a stat base.
it's a small sample so far, but i now have 192 scores for fighters along with their salaries.
i also have vegas/offshore odds (30 minutes before lock) on the fighters converted to projected win percentages.
with an excel sort i can "bucket" them into categories and look up the past points scored for fighters that fall into that range bucket of salary and also projected win percentages.
so fighter 5B with a salary of $X should get about X points and with a projected win percentage of "Y" he should get about "Y" points.
this gives me a good idea of what the possible points total could be for every fighter on the card and the value plays pop off the screen.
i also started tracking the ufc.com fantasy game picks for the fighters because they show projected win percentages on that "game".
sometimes when the fantasy players and vegas are out of whack, you can find some lower priced fighters with a good chance to win.
anyway, i'm above water so far, but would love it if there was even a blank skeleton that i could enter my own projections into and then cruncher could spit out the best lineups.
something like...
fighter 1a projection __
fighter 1b
fighter 2a
fighter 2b
and so on.

thanks in advance for any help you can bring.

just noticed post 18 by the bud9999.

screenshot has 1 billion dollars cash in the balance line. impressive.
also, the top live contests block has you playing in a 100k head to head WNBA game against Condia.
sweeeet. draftkings now has WNBA and for BIG BIG BUCKS.
me thinks there is photoshop on your computer somewhere, hopefully not for the use of getting a free lifetime subscription.
congrats on scoring 186.85 points, if that's actually your score.
