any chance of having this by the us open? :) - I know it's probably a "no", but can't help but be excited about the possibilities! :)

Is there a way to make it so the optimizer puts your 4 highest-rated players in the R3/R4 slots on FanDuel golf? I think this is a pretty common strategy and is pretty frustrating to work around as-is

Also a ton of essentially duplicate lineups where the #1 lineup will be 8 players, and the #2 lineup will just have swapped 1 of the R1/R2 guys with a R3/R4 guy, which I understand IS a different lineup, but for the majority of outcomes it is ostensibly doubling down on 25 lineups if you play 50, instead of having 50 unique

Any thoughts or process changes greatly appreciated .. I know the FD format is finnicky

What's the ETA on that? PGA is live at Fanduel this week.

What's the official word here for yesterday's outage? Thanks

It is late but I believe Howell III and Varner III are missing from the pga pool, at least ...

again it is late I may be wrong but figured I'd pass along

Playing with the MLB optimizer, and everything seems to work fine, but it's telling me it can generate 0 lineups if I lock buster posey in

Player issue

Could not find any teams under the salary cap with the selected players.
You may not have enough players selected or you may have too many players locked.

This does not happen when I try to lock other players in ..... and I'm dealing with a full player pool, etc., pretty experienced from other sports and 99.9% certain there's ...... absolutely no way I should be coming back with zero lineups just by locking posey in and hitting run ...

just making note of it hopefully can be resolved soon!

Just wanted to say, I see that this has been added, and I am using it, and it is such a really nice little minor convenience!

Thanks!

So we are going to be back to only people with 3rd party software being able to mass edit lineups?

This incredibly sucks.

It's basically insane to reserve, say, 100x entries and not be able to mass EDIT them, which we cannot now with DK's "tool"

If it's against the TOS that is fine - but if it's back to how it was six months ago when only a select few got to mass edit lineups .. that will be EXTREMELY BAD

It looks like that's where we're at. Unless they have some SERIOUS enforcement capabilities that they hadn't even begun thinking about six months ago. So I'm not holding y breath.

Back to the days of everyone who doesn't break the TOS being at a tremendous disadvantage.

What do we do?

So when we upload custom projections, we get a pop-up window now noting which names didn't match.

Is there any way to easily list these guys with the line-number that they are on, so we can find them? Rather than scrolling through the list trying to read all the names?

For example if instead of saying following players didn't match: "J J Henry 50pts" or whatever just have it be like "133: JJ Henry 50 pts" ...

I mean, really simple, if it's an easy patch and you guys are tinkering some day, keep it in mind, but no big deal. Maybe I'm the only one with this "problem" heh ... I just start scrolling through that list of names and they all run together and next thing you know I've forgotten what player I'm even looking for ...

Just a thought I had ... totally a convenience item ..

So when this hits we all get free FC for life and T-shirts, right ;-) ?

GL big time! Fun to "know" someone in that position going into tonight!

I could have made that lineup! ;-)

Good luck!

Not trying to pile on, but I've been affected directly by both outages recently. I noticed it was slow tonight before it stopped. This time the entire site crashed pretty much during the crunch time.

I've developed my own offline tools for optimizing fanduel NBA lineups and thankfully had that to fall back on ... haven't developed it to the point where I can as gracefully lock/exclude as i can on FC, and I like being able to quickly interface with the game logs, etc. on FC ... but ... gosh ...

It's hard to pay money for something that ends up costing us EV .... ever? I mean. It is a tough business. If you are going to run a business like this the product can NEVER fail. I don't have as much on the line as guys like larry but that's really insignificant - it's the principle of it. Before the product is put out for sale, this needs to be ridiculously over-the-top as secure as it could ever be, with backups on backups.

It's not life or death, and honestly, the other services I've used have had worse problems - I still maintain that just because the other services fail more often, that does not make it acceptable for anyone to ever charge for a system that we become 100% reliant on (face it - if you've got 100 reservations and 20 minutes to figure it out, you're screwed. I think most of us that multi-enter every day take reservations banking on the fact that this product will work. When it doesn't, we are in an extremely compromised situation and ... like I said ... it is kind of insane to pay money for something that ends up losing us money (or EV, however you want to look at it).).

If it's not reliable I'd rather change my strategies and not end up with a bunch of reservations that I have to scramble to fill. I consider myself lucky to have had an offline replacement. Last time this happened, I couldn't say that. I know almost nobody else can. We are 110% reliant on this product and if that's not something that should be smart to do - please let us know.

It's tough because we had a problem, it was deliberately and swiftly "fixed" ... except ... not really. I'd rather you say 'listen its not going to work for x-days and after that it will be robust enough to handle all of our new subscribers, and then some, FOR SURE."

My two cents.

-Sean

There is no publically-accessible FanDuel API, is there?

Hey Tai,

I play on fanduel and my problems weren't related to exporting, they were related to importing custom projections.

Also, the issues I had only occurred during high traffic times - so me testing things throughout the day will have no bearing on whether they work when the volume is ramped up before lock.

In any case, I appreciate the honesty about some of the technical limitations that are being faced in the transition. The last word was for Tuesday, and it's not Tuesday yet, so -

I will play accordingly tonight, but look forward to having full confidence once again in the performance under heavy traffic ...

I understand what I asked was a difficult question to answer - nobody can predict the future. So thanks for the reply! I was just looking for the most information on which to base my decisions, so, this helps.

I'll give it a run tonight and let you know if I have any problems, but I'll keep the number of reservations to an amount that I can handle with a plan B, and just knowing that there could be a potential issue is very helpful - I will say that when this happened on Friday, I was convinced that it must have been an issue on my end and wasted a lot of time trying to resolve a browser or OS-related issue that didn't exist ... but I did that because I've never had a problem before even in high-traffic time periods.

I'll let you know if there's any issues! ;)

Alright so we're good to go I can load up on GPP reservations for tonight and be worry-free that I'll be able to optimize in the 30 minute window before lock?

I appreciate the service and understand that shit happens - but if there's still any FORESEEABLE chance of an issue (I know unforeseeable stuff happens) ... by all means it would help me more to know now, and I'll start with plan B - but would prefer to not have to bail on all my reservations and burn them up on a single lineup like I did last week.

So if something like this is going on, or could still happen even with the server change, I'd much rather know in advance than burn those lineups up! If this was something you noticed before 11/12 and 11/13 as well (I didn't have the problem where I lost my lineups until 11/13, but it would have been nice to know that something was up, I would have bailed a lot earlier and been able to salvage it - but the service had ALWAYS been reliable so I kept banging my head against the wall hoping it would work and wasted about 30 minutes before lock when I could have been trying to save my entries the old-fashioned way) ...

I know nobody wants to advertise when something isn't working properly, BUT, I think all of us would rather know something's going on than walk into it blind and get in a situation where we're stuck, banking on optimizing lineups, and scrambling to find an alternative when it doesn't work in the exact moment it needs to.

So am I good to go for tonight? Either answer is fine I just want to know!

-Sean

Now that you mention it, I had some slight issues loading projections on 11/12 but everything went through fine, problem also occurred around the same time you mentioned (right before lock, 30 mins leading up to).

Just some sluggishness I hadn't seen before and it would only load part of the projections, had to remove all and reload once or twice and it was fine, didn't think much of it.

Tonight, same problem, except server errors mixed in, sluggishness ... basically the same thing - totally unable to load projections, I stopped trying at about 6:56 and scrambled to make a lineup by hand to submit over top of the few dozen GPP reservations I had (intended to be multiple lineups) .... really a total disaster.

I could run an optimization based on the FC projections seemingly as fine as normal but the major problems came in when trying to upload my own projections. So it's on that end.

I don't know what to say. Feeling pretty burned up right now. This was for FanDuel NBA.

Never had any issues at all up until today (technically yesterday but that was pretty tolerable, just a minor inconvenience. This cost me a ton of EV on a Friday night ...) ...

I'd like to put vote in for fantasyhub ... not quite even a 2nd tier site I'd say but on par with some of the others offered ... I love the concept, I will be playing there in the future, AND I think it would be great because

1) They're running a lot of promo GPPs that are almost guaranteed to overlay in NFL and NBA right now it seems, to try to get people to join ... and
2) Seemingly nowhere else has an optimizer compatible with them. I THINK dailyfantasycafe.com might have one for NFL, not sure about other sports. But that's all I've seen. So if we're the only ones that have that advantage, I'd love to take full advantage of that!

Well I know that dissenting opinions will not likely be very politically correct in this forum ...

But has anyone used FC and another service, like say a basketballmonster, and done any comparisons? Do we think that FC has sharper projections than BM? And if so, what's making them so?

I've heard it said by the powers that be that the site is best used as a tool, and we're not necessarily paying for the default projections, but for the tool. And that is fine. I make my own projections. BUT I like to compare from as many different sharp sets as possible and have a little bit of knowledge about which have been the sharpest, and also in some areas. Like for example one service could be the best at predicting minutes but another service has sharper performance projections, if that makes any sense?

Any thoughts on past experiences are greatly appreciated, especially beyond "I used ____ service during ___ time and did (good/bad)" ...

I'm on board with this - this would be a fantastically powerful resource if there was any way to incorporate it.

Also being able to do more than one day of export at once. Give me the entire season I'll deal with it!

That's good stuff crash!

For the record though numberfire in my experience is a total garbage proj, for all the sports I've ever looked at. And rotowire not far behind.

The eye test tells me that these have more logic in them than those setups.

Like I said I'm not looking for the answer to be "yes these projs are a one-stop shop for all your lineup needs" I'm just wanting to know more about them, so I can decide what the strengths and weaknesses currently are- and maybe even help to improve them!

I asked an almost identical question in the "Everything else" section last night ... ... ...

I guess based on this reply I would ask ... ... ...

Fair enough, and I signed up without any intention of using the projections ... but I guessI'm more wondering, especially with you guys downplaying them, if I should factor them in at all? I often will crowd-source or aggregate projections, but I can't get a feel for whether these are useful. I can LOOK at football projections and be like "these are junk" or "these are solid" but I can't do that for NHL, because I know nothing about NHL.

So - I mean you can be honest! Are the projections solid? What are their weaknesses and what are their strengths? So like for baseball I have a set that is A+ for pitchers but terrible for batters, another set that is the opposite, and another set that best factors in all of the matchups and park factors, etc. - and between the three I can piece together I pretty sharp set. I'm used to that. I didn't sign up for the projections. BUT. They are there.

I guess you mentioned a stat database - but for NHL all I see is a line number and a final projection ... maybe ceiling but in any case ... Is there a stats database for NHL that we can view?

LOL I just noticed I said NHL in the headline, and PGA in the body.

I guess actually, the same questions apply for both sets. But I already have my own projections for PGA, that is more of a curiosity.

The NHL one I'm curious as to what some of the inputs are, so I can better use the house projections - OR - know which parts I will lean on less heavily than others, that type of thing ...

I'm just curious - can anyone lend any insight as to some of the things that are behind some of the PGA projections?

I mean - I'm not looking for all of the secrets to be given away. But I guess things like -

Is it totally empirical or is there some subjective input?

Is it based on last year's stats and/or rolling stats, or some other kind of metric?

Does it factor in vegas lines?

Probably some more, that I can't think of - but basic things like that, not necessarily giving away your entire recipe. What are the projections based on / how are they formulated?

Thanks,
Sean

And I agree if you're already pulling line data, I assume your source also has the powerplay lines, would be nice to have that displayed as well, if they are on a powerplay unit and whether it's 1 or 2, right there on the sheet ...... as was already suggested but these are two of the first things that jumped out at me, as well!

I was coming to post about being able to filter by line - for example if I want to run lineups on only 1st and 2nd line guys, would be nice to be able to select them or deselect line 1/2/3/4 guys as a group for the player pool. Today it's painless enough to check them individually but for bigger slates, that will be a good feature.
