The Core Four: MLB DFS Picks For DraftKings & FanDuel – May 13, 2022

Four Core MLB DFS Picks for DraftKings & FanDuel Contests on May 13, 2022.

In this article, we four core for FanDuel & DraftKings daily fantasy baseball contests. These players are the ones we are going to have the most exposure to on each of the sites. Let’s jump right into today’s article.

We will stick with the same format that we’ve used recently, focusing on lower-ownership candidates for tournaments (GPPs) in this article. If you are looking for cash game plays, make sure to check out all the other great articles that we post on FantasyCruncher on a daily basis.

Top Pitcher

Sonny Gray

When I saw Gray’s ownership projection at just 3.9% for tonight’s contests my eyes lit up. I was already super high on Gray and now I am all in. Gray is just too cheap and too talented for him to have this low of ownership. If you want a more in-depth look at Gray check out the article posted below.

Stud Hitter

Shohei Ohtani

Whenever I see Ohtani with less than five percent projected ownership which is the case tonight I immediately make sure that I have more shares of him. Tonight is no different even with Ohtani’s super high salary. In fact, I like Ohtani a little more than I normally do as he is starting to look like the Ohtani of last season. Ohtani has reached base safely in nine straight games and has double-digit fantasy points in three of his past four games. Ohtani is not only hot but he is also in a great match-up against Daulton Jefferies who for his career has allowed hitters to slash .273/.323/.448 with a .337 wOBA against him.

Value Hitter

Mark Canha

I was tempted to write up J.D. Davis who was my pick in the Dinger of The Day article as he is projected for only 3.2% ownership today but decided to give you another player on the Mets who is projected for low ownership in Canha. Canha is also projected for ownership levels less than five percent tonight and might be a better play than Davis. I say this due to the fact that Canha has been the better hitter this season and has been better against lefties than Davis in terms of power. Canha has a career ISO of .194 while Davis has a career ISO of .175 against left-handed pitching.

Top Stack

Oakland Athletics

I am on the target any pitcher that faces Oakland train and while I am still on that train tonight as the A’s suck I also kind of really like them tonight. I kind of like the A’s due to the match-up against Chase Silseth. Silseth is going to be making his major league debut tonight and while he has great numbers in the minors this season I am not buying it. I am not buying Silseth as an elite major league pitcher for two reasons. The first is he has not pitched above Double-A in his career. The difference between Double-A hitting and major league hitting even on a team that struggles to hit the ball as the A’s do is a Grand Canyon size difference. The second is while Silseth is the 16th ranked prospect in the Angels organization currently he was an 11th-round pick for a reason.
