Week 12 NFL DFS Defensive (DST) Targets For FanDuel & DraftKings

Welcome to the FC Insights Defensive Targets Article. In this post, we will be breaking down our top options and plays at the DST position for each DFS week of the 2021-2022 NFL DFS season.

Thanksgiving Slate

Lions ($3,700 FD, $2,400 DK)

Opponent Opponent Team Total Opponent Points Per Game Opponent Total Sacks Allowed  Opponent Total Turnovers
Bears 22.25 16.3 36 14

I know I wrote up Andy Dalton as my quarterback of choice for the Thanksgiving Slate in my quarterback article but I also really like the Lions’ defense this week. The Lions’ defense has played extremely well the past two weeks. In those games, the Lions have allowed a total of 29 points and forced five turnovers. The Lions have produced at least seven fantasy points in each of those games. The Lions’ defense is not just playing well but the Bears’ offense kind of sucks. The Bears have not scored more than 24 points in a game this season, have allowed the most sacks in the NFL (though I don’t think Dalton with his experience takes as many sacks as Justin Fields took), and are allowing the fourth-most fantasy points per game to opposing defenses.

Main Slate Top Play

Eagles ($4,300 FD, $3,200 DK)

Opponent Opponent Team Total Opponent Points Per Game Opponent Total Sacks Allowed  Opponent Total Turnovers
Giants 21.50 18.9 22 14

I am hoping that the Giants’ offense looks a lot better now that Jason Garrett has been fired but let’s be honest this Giants offense with Daniel Jones under center is not likely to magically become a great offense in one week. That makes the Eagles defense one of my favorite defenses of the week as they have been putting up some huge fantasy outings as of late. The Eagles have double-digit fantasy points in three of their past four games thanks to them scoring a touchdown in each of those three games and forcing five turnovers in those games. While defensive touchdowns are a crapshoot the fact that the Eagles are forcing so many turnovers is what makes me believe that even without a touchdown that they can put up a huge outing.

Main Slate Value Play DraftKings

Texans ($2,300 DK)

Opponent Opponent Team Total Opponent Points Per Game Opponent Total Sacks Allowed  Opponent Total Turnovers
Jets 21.25 17.8 27 23

I have seen some awful pricing in my DFS career but never pricing as bad as this. The Texans are the second-cheapest defense on DraftKings and the second-most expensive defense on FanDuel. For those of you who read my Value Plays article each week, you would know how much I love to take advantage of pricing mismatched like this. Even if the Texans were not so cheap on DraftKings they would have likely made this article as a top defense. There are two reasons for this. The first is the Texans defense is a really good defense and has been dare I say it elite over their past two games. In those two games, the Texans have allowed a total of 30 points, sacked the quarterback six times, forced five turnovers in each game, and has produced at least 15 fantasy points in each of those games. Both of those games came against some solid offenses by the way in the Dolphins and the Titans. The Texans’ defense is not just playing elite football right now but they also get the privilege of facing the Jets. The Jets have given the ball away more than any team this season, allowed the eighth-most sacks, and scored the fifth-fewest points per game. All but one defense that has faced the Jets this season has produced at least five fantasy points and for the season they are allowing 9.6 fantasy points per game to opposing defenses which is the second-most in the NFL.

Main Slate Value Play FanDuel

Bengals ($3,300 FD)

Opponent Opponent Team Total Opponent Points Per Game Opponent Total Sacks Allowed  Opponent Total Turnovers
Steelers 20.5 21.4 21 11

I don’t really like any of the cheap defenses on FanDuel this week but if I had to pick one which I do for this article it would be the Bengals. The Bengals have at least two sacks in all but two games this season and have forced at least two turnovers in two of their past three games. The Bengals have also produced at least five fantasy points in all but three games this season. The Steelers offense is not a great offense by any stretch of the means either and the Bengals defense did put up a huge game against them in week three of this season. In that game the Bengals held the Steelers to ten points while racing up four sacks and two takeaways on their way to a season-high 12 fantasy points.
