Week 5 NFL DFS Tight Ends (TE) Targets For DraftKings & FanDuel

Welcome to the FC Insights Tight End Targets Article. In this post, we will be breaking down our top options and plays at the WR position for each DFS week of the 2021-2022 NFL DFS season.

Top Plays

Mike Gesicki (DK- $4,200, FD- $5,600)

Opponent Team Total Opponent Fantasy Points Allowed Per Game To TEs
@ TB 139 17.48

With a matchup for MIA where they’ll more than likely be down and having to rely on their passing attack this bodes well for Mike Gesicki to get his fair share of targets. Gesicki is also receiving the majority of the targets on his team at his position (and it’s not even close) at 26 so far total this season. In addition, TB has allowed the third most fantasy points to the TE position so far this season so Gesicki should be expected to take advantage of that this game.

Dalton Schultz (DK- $4,400, FD- $6,200)

Opponent Team Total Opponent Fantasy Points Allowed Per Game To TEs
NYG 29.5 16.85

In an important divisional match Dalton Schultz will have the benefit of facing an NYG squad that’s surrendering the fifth most fantasy points to the TE position. Also, with team totals being close in this matchup (DAL- 29.5, NYG- 22.5) there will more than likely be back and forth scoring. Schultz has also solidified himself as the number one TE on his team so far this season and receiving more red zone targets (3) than his teammate/backup TE Blake Jarwin. However, the price on DK is more appealing compared to Schultz’s FD price where he may not end up reaching that value.

George Kittle (DK- $5,600, FD- $6,500)

Opponent Team Total Opponent Fantasy Points Allowed Per Game To TEs
@ ARI 22.25 5.58

Depending on the injury status of Kittle (in which he played through last week) he will be needed in the offense against an ARI team that has been scoring heavily against their opponents so far this season. Kittle also has no competition in his position (28 total compared to the next at 1) but only would have to worry about his teammate Deebo Samuel (at the WR position) picking up more volume due to Kittle’s calf injury. However, with the linebackers of ARI not having as much pass deflections against their opponent (2), Kittle can still find an opening especially if he played last week and had ten targets. With that opportunity Kittle can be a great play especially on Draftkings if he ends up playing.

Cameron Brate (DK- $3,300, FD- $5,000)

Opponent Team Total Opponent Fantasy Points Allowed Per Game To TEs
MIA 29 15.48

After receiving close to double-digit targets last game (6) and possibly not having Rob Gronkowski this week again, Brate has a chance to take advantage of one the defenses in MIA having one of the least deflected passes at the linebacker position which defends TEs the majority of the time. With potentially increased volume and red zone usage (3 targets so far) Brate can sneakily overachieve his expected value (more so on Draftkings) but can possibly reach his value too on Fanduel since Tom Brady seems to look for his TEs a lot within the passing offense especially for first down conversions/in the red zone.

Value Play(s) for DK/FD

DK/FD- Jonnu Smith ($3,300/$4,900)

Opponent Team Total Opponent Fantasy Points Allowed Per Game To TEs
@ HOU 24.25 19.83

Although both NE TEs are used in the pass offense pretty frequently, Jonnu Smith has the target advantage total so far this season (21 to Hunter Henry’s 18) which could lead to Jonnu making an impact against a HOU squad that is surrendering the second most fantasy points to the TE position. Depending on if HOU is able to score more this week will also determine Jonnu’s performance. However, NE’s run game was not efficient last week which may lead to them relying more on the pass/trick-plays to score. Therefore, assuming that HOU doesn’t get shut out once again Jonnu may end up scoring at least one touchdown if not more in this matchup with the advantage he has.
