DraftKings Xfinity NASCAR DFS – Pennzoil 150 – August 14, 2021

Core Plays

Justin Allgaier – DK: $9,900 – Starting 4th

Nascar travels to the Brickyard in Indianapolis this weekend with traditional practice and qualifying for our events. We didn’t have a race here in 2020, but dating back to 2018 and 2019, Just Allgaier has posted some of the highest-rated races of his career and statistically the best driver at the track not named Kyle Busch. Allgaier over his last two races here has a first and second-place finish, with a combined 65 laps led. Regardless of where Allgaier is at, he is one of the best in form drivers right now with a top-five finish in five of his last seven races, and a top-12 finish in nine of his last ten. To break this down a little further, over Allgaier’s last ten races, he has managed a third or betting in half of them. Allgaier hasn’t led a ton of laps recently, but he has netted us some fast lap points. The ceiling isn’t as high as it seems here as the differential isn’t incredibly high, but given the form currently and his past success on this track, the $9,900 price tag makes this very intriguing for me.

Jeremy Clements – DK: $6,300 – Starting 20th

Clements is just a well I continue to keep coming back to in the Xfinity series for DFS and it hasn’t really failed too much. Clements has only six top-ten finishes in 20 races, but he carries an average finish of 14.9 on the season and an average fantasy points output of 26.9. Clements has gone over that average mark in half of his last ten races and really has only finished below 21.9 fantasy points four times this entire season. The constant low pricing on Clements has been pretty confusing all year and dropping his price to this level after being just $7,000 three races ago (which he finished with 47 fantasy points) doesn’t make a ton of sense to me. Clements has been average at Indy in his career, but his equipment is arguably the best it has ever been right now. As I say a lot in this article and as you should know if you routinely play Xfinity DFS, the low-priced tier here is extremely volatile and is full of either bad equipment or very inexperienced drivers who are just outclassed at this point in their careers. Even if Clements isn’t offering me an elite ceiling here, he is getting me a floor that feels safer than what other drivers offer.
