DraftKings CoD Core Plays and Cheat Sheet (CDL) – April 8, 2021
With day two of the Major 2 stage underway teams will be looking to continue their winning streaks to the final while others will look to prove their worth at the higher seed and begin their streaks. There have been some slight changes that have seemed to help teams progress further so it will be interesting to see if that remains the same. The format has slightly changed which gives us more games to break down in one day and crazier possible outcomes. That being said let’s go over the slate below.
DAL Empire v.s. NY Subliners (3:00 PM EST) (DAL -135)
Starting off the slate strong with what should be an intense rematch between DAL and NYSL. Last time these teams met was in the Major 1 Elimination Finals and DAL swept NYSL 3-0. Crimsix was the man to look out for among both teams and dominated with a 1.32 K/D as he anchored for his teammates on DAL. However, NYSL is on a hot streak winning four straight series leading up to this game and slightly increased their team efficiency (0.98 K/D v.s. 0.95 from Major 1). Therefore, this time around may not end up being a sweep again but anything is possible. At the moment C6 has the lowest K/D on his team and would need to improve that to help Shotzzy continue to slay out for the team in the submachine gun role but Huke also needs to show out because he hasn’t been playing the same recently compared to last stage. As for NYSL, Asim and Diamondcon have been doing the best so far (1.01/1 K/D’s) but the fact that they’ve been performing well as a team in general without Mack playing at his best is scary for other teams. On the other hand, DAL has the upper hand in respawn gamemodes (6-1 record v.s. 7-3 for NYSL) this stage which can be bad for NYSL but I wouldn’t count them out right away especially since they have more momentum right now going into the match.
TOR Ultra v.s. Optic CHI (4:30 PM EST) (OGC -260)
TOR will be looking for revenge in this matchup since they lost to OGC in Stage 1, 1-3. Sadly, they may have caught OGC at the wrong time as they seemed to have overcome their recent slumps. OGC has stopped streaming their scrimmages like they usually did during their week and more than likely focused more on adjusting small mistakes they made in their recent losses, and maybe prevented teams from seeing their adjustments ahead of time which resulted in them winning their last series 3-0. However, TOR did change their roster slightly since that last matchup with the acquisition of Insight so we’ll have to see if that helps them more. Fortunately, Insight has been the most reliable player on the team thus far with a 1.14 K/D (which is the highest among both teams) so the rookie will have to bring that same energy to help his team pull off the upset. Envoy who is the in-game-leader (IGL) for his OGC squad dominated last time and had a 1.37 K/D which could be hard for TOR to handle especially when he’s performing the second-best on his team right now along with FormaL. In addition, Scump performed really well in their last match and if he maintains the same pace he is on right now OGC will be really tough to defeat.
LA Thieves v.s. LON Royal Ravens (6:00 PM EST) (-260 LAT)
LAT has shown new signs of life with the recent benching of Slasher which was a shock to many but replaced by rookie standout Drazah who dominated in the challenger’s league. This match would also be a rematch from the last matchup during this stage that LON emerged victorious with a 3-1 series win. The majority of the contribution in the team win for LON came from PaulEhx’s performance which was a really good 1.31 K/D. More than likely the battle of the assault rifle-main players of Drazah/Kenny v.s. PaulEhx/Seany will help determine the winner of this matchup. Seany is currently performing the best on LON right now (1.02 K/D) along with Paul-Ehx at third-best (0.96). If Drazah maintains his hot performance of a crazy 1.72 K/D against PAR in their previous matchup versus LON in their current matchup then this will be a lot more of an even matchup. Kenny has also returned from being sick and missing his last game for his team but performed well against PAR so he’s more than likely feeling better which bodes well for LAT’s chances.
FLA Mutineers v.s. SEA Surge (7:30 PM EST) (-170 FLA)
SEA is coming off of a tough loss to an arguably top-three team in MIN last game while FLA is entering this match off a dominating 3-0 sweep vs LAG. Unfortunately, SEA won the last time these two teams faced off 3-1. Also, SEA has improved since then and both sides are even in respawn gametypes (7-6 record) which should make it an interesting rematch. Both teams are also currently even on team overall K/D’s of 1.06. On the other hand, FLA has the better record at the search and destroy gametype (3-2) while SEA has a 3-4 record. Skyz has begun to takeover for his FLA squad and is the most efficient right now with a 1.13 K/D with his teammate Neptune being the only other player over a 1 K/D right now. On the opposing end, SEA’s main assault rifle player, Octane is relied on most for his team and has the highest K/D currently (1.11). Also, if Octane is able to play any similar to how he did previously in the first matchup against FLA it could be bad news for FLA because he went off and had a 1.21 K/D while everyone on FLA was below 1.0.
