DraftKings & FanDuel LoL Cheat Sheet – LCS – February 19, 2021 (2/19/21)

This Friday slate is headlined by the top three teams in the LCS with all advantageous matchups on paper. Team Liquid faces 1-5 Golden Guardians, Cloud9 (5-1) faces 1-5 Counter Logic Gaming, and 100 Thieves (5-1) faces 2-4 Immortals. Now at first glance here, Team Liquid players are the most expensive despite them being 3-3 and on a two-match losing streak. One of those losses was to 100 Thieves in a great game, so I give a pass there – however the other was against TSM – a team that I think is vastly over-rated and despite TSM being 4-2, they have picked apart the bottom of the leader board with victories over the three bottom-ranked teams. I think within time this team will be exposed for what they are. Team Liquid here is way better than their 3-3 record and a matchup with Golden Guardians should straighten them out. However, I am worried about pace as they are a team that won’t push fights – for example, Cloud9 only managed 15 kills off of them in their win back in week one and Golden Guardians one win on the season actually came in a 15-9 kill deficit. Team Liquid deserves to be the favorites here, but I am not sure they make sense as the highest-priced squad. My preferred target here is Cloud9, who currently have three players in the top six in kills in the LCS – Blaber, Zven, Perkz all are averaging over 4.1 kills per game with Blaber at 5.5. Their opponents, CLG, have four players in the top 15 in deaths per game, with WildTurtle in second in the LCS at four deaths per match. The worry with Cloud9 is the same with Team Liquid, CLG may slow the pace here and will force Cloud9 into an aggressive mistake. If Cloud9 is unafraid to play aggressive here though, I think they have the highest ceiling on the slate. 100 Thieves may be the best stack play on the slate though as when they do fight, they do it as a team. 100 Thieves has three players in the top eight, and the top two in FBI and huhi in Kill participation at 80% and above. Damonte isn’t far behind at 76%. Because the top three favorites are pretty large, I don’t think there is a real punt option on this slate that has a chance of winning, so for value, you will need to target Dignitas or Evil Geniuses, or get creative with some 4-2-1 stacking.
