Week 17 NFL DFS Tight End (TE) Targets For FanDuel & DraftKings

Welcome to the FC Insights Tight End Targets Article. In this post, we will be breaking down our top options and plays at the TE position for each DFS week of the 2020-2021 NFL DFS season.

Top Plays

Mark Andrews ($7,200 FD, $5,800 DK)

Opponent Team Total Opponent Passing Yards Allowed Per Game to TEs Opponent Receptions Allowed Per Game to TEs Opponent Fantasy Points Allowed Per Game to TEs
Bengals 28.50 64.0 5.2 15.3

The tight end position is fugly this week and I personally wish I didn’t have to roster one. Since we have to roster one we might as well roster the safest player at the position this week and that seems like Andrews. Andrews has at least five catches for at least 60 yards and double-digit fantasy points in five straight games for the Ravens. Andrews is not only putting up consistent numbers but the Bengals are also an excellent match-up for Andrews as they have allowed the second-most receiving yards per game and the fifth-most fantasy points per game to the position. Unlike most of the other elite tight or consistent tight ends on this slate, we also don’t have the question marks of how long Andrews is going to play or who is going to be throwing him the ball as the Ravens must win to make the playoffs.

Value Plays

Austin Hooper ($5,200 FD, $3,800 DK)

Opponent Team Total Opponent Passing Yards Allowed Per Game to TEs Opponent Receptions Allowed Per Game to TEs Opponent Fantasy Points Allowed Per Game to TEs
Steelers 25.50 39.2 3.9 8.7

The Steelers are one of if not the worst possible match-up for Hooper as they rank in the top three in terms of limiting tight ends in most statistical categories. With that being said there are no truly safe tight ends on this slate so Hooper is worth the shot based on the way he has played since missing week 14. In his two games since his return, Hooper has seen 21 targets though 15 did come last week with all the Browns receivers out and turned those targets into 12 catches for 112 yards and a score. Hooper has at least 14 fantasy points in each of those games and had produced at least nine fantasy points in six of his past nine games including a game against the Steelers.

Eric Ebron ($5,500 FD, $4,000 DK)

Opponent Team Total Opponent Passing Yards Allowed Per Game to TEs Opponent Receptions Allowed Per Game to TEs Opponent Fantasy Points Allowed Per Game to TEs
Browns 16.50 58.3 5.7 15.9

There are a lot of question marks with Ebron this week as we don’t really know how much he is going to play with the Steelers not having anything really to play for and with Mason Rudolph starting for the Steelers but there are frankly question marks with almost every tight end this week and I think Ebron is worth the risk. There are several reasons why I think he is worth the risk. The first of those reasons is the fact that Rudolph is starting. While I don’t have anything to back this up minus my gut with Rudolph starting I imagine we see more targets Ebron’s way as backup quarterbacks tend to look for safety valves which Ebron is. Another reason is due to the match-up against the Browns. The Browns have been one of the worst teams in terms of limiting tight ends. This season they rank in the bottom six in targets allowed, receptions allowed, receiving yards allowed, receiving touchdowns allowed, and fantasy points per game allowed to tight ends.

Trey Burton ($4,900 FD, $2,800 DK)

Opponent Team Total Opponent Passing Yards Allowed Per Game to TEs Opponent Receptions Allowed Per Game to TEs Opponent Fantasy Points Allowed Per Game to TEs
Colts 31.75 54.4 4.2 14.8

Burton is another risky play at the position but he is actually my favorite tight end this week for a lot of reasons. The first of those reasons is his salary. Burton is dirt cheap on both sites at only $400 above the site minimum salary on FanDuel and $300 above the site minimum salary on DraftKings. Burton is not only dirt cheap but it does look like Jack Doyle is going to miss this week’s game after not being able to practice yet this week. With Doyle out the Colts, three-headed monster at the tight end position becomes a two-headed monster with Burton as the lead tight end. Another reason and the main reason why Burton is my favorite tight end is the match-up against the Jaguars. The Jags have allowed at least one touchdown pass to tight ends in five of their past six games and have allowed a league-high 13 touchdown passes to the position. The Jaguars also rank in the bottom ten in receiving yards allowed per game and fantasy points allowed per game to the position.
