Week 17 NFL DFS Quarterbacks (QB) Targets For FanDuel & DraftKings

Welcome to the FC Insights Quarterback Targets Article. In this post, we will be breaking down our top options and plays at the QB position for each DFS week of the 2020-2021 NFL DFS season.

Top Plays

Lamar Jackson ($9,000 FD, $8,000 DK)

Opponent Team Total Opponent Passing Yards Allowed Per Game Opponent Total Passing Touchdowns Allowed Opponent Fantasy Points Allowed Per Game to QBs
Bengals 28.50 249.2 29 19.4

I am playing quarterbacks in must-win games and that is what we have with the red-hot Jackson. Jackson has at least two touchdown passes in three of his past four games, at least 80 yards rushing in three of his past four games, and a rushing touchdown in three of his past four games. Jackson has at least 22 fantasy points in each of those games and in five of his past six games. Jackson is not just red-hot and should play the whole game as the Ravens must win to make the playoffs but the match-up against the Bengals is also a match-up that I like for Jackson as they struggled against a similar type of quarterback last week Deshaun Watson though Watson is light years ahead of Jackson in the passing department.

Aaron Rodgers ($8,500 FD, $7,400 DK)

Opponent Team Total Opponent Passing Yards Allowed Per Game Opponent Total Passing Touchdowns Allowed Opponent Fantasy Points Allowed Per Game to QBs
Bears 27.75 231.2 24 17.8

There are some negatives with Rodgers this week like the match-up against the Bears and the fact that the Packers did lose their left tackle David Bakhtiari to injury. With that being said I am rostering Rodgers in as many lineups as I can get as there has not been a better player at the position this season especially over the past ten weeks. Rodgers has at least three touchdown passes in eight of his past ten games and has at least 23 fantasy points in nine of those games. One of those games was also against the Bears and in that game, Rodgers threw for four touchdowns and produced 25.64 fantasy points. Rodgers is also another quarterback in a must-win game as the Packers must win to get the number one seed and the only bye in the first round of the playoffs.

Value Plays

Philip Rivers ($7,300 FD, $6,000 DK)

Opponent Team Total Opponent Passing Yards Allowed Per Game Opponent Total Passing Touchdowns Allowed Opponent Fantasy Points Allowed Per Game to QBs
Jaguars 31.75 271.1 33 24.4

Rivers is not a quarterback I typically like to roster as he doesn’t have huge games but he is one I really like at his price point this week. I like Rivers for several reasons. The first of those reasons is he is yet another quarterback in a must-win game which once again I am targeting this week. The second reason is while Rivers doesn’t have many huge games this season he has been consistent with at least two touchdown passes and at least 17 fantasy points in each of his five games prior to last week’s game against the tough Steelers defense. The last and final reason why I really like Rivers this week is the match-up against the Jaguars. The Jags rank in the bottom six in passing yards allowed per game, passing touchdowns allowed, and fantasy points allowed per game to quarterbacks.

C.J. Beathard ($6,600 FD, $5,200 DK)

Opponent Team Total Opponent Passing Yards Allowed Per Game Opponent Total Passing Touchdowns Allowed Opponent Fantasy Points Allowed Per Game to QBs
Seahawks 20.00 287.9 22 22.7

The Seahawks were a defense that I was targeting quarterbacks against week in and week out as their defense was historically bad. That has not been the case over the past eight-plus weeks. In fact, the Hawks defense has been one of the best defenses in the NFL and leads the NFL in sacks during that period. Quarterbacks who face constant pressure normally don’t put up big fantasy numbers. With all that being said I really like Beathard as a low owned cheap player this week as he looked really good in his start last week. In that game, Beahtard threw for three scores on just 22 attempts on his way to 20.08 fantasy points. While 20 fantasy points is probably Beathard’s ceiling if he hit that mark again this week he would likely be one of the highest-scoring quarterbacks on this slate as this slate has the feel of a week three preseason slate as my colleague Brad pointed out to me earlier in the week.
