Welcome to the Yahoo NFL DFS core plays column for week 11 of the 2020-2021 season.
In this post, we will be breaking down our top options and plays for Yahoo for each DFS week of the 2020-2021 NFL DFS season.
QB- Cam Newton- $27
You certainly don’t have to spend down at QB this week – but with the Pats picking up another win last week and facing a Houston defence that has been one of the worst units in the league this season – it’s hard not to love this spot for Cam for $27 this week. For me, this play is all about the ground game – he won’t wow you with his passing line, but any time that the Pats are down inside the 10 yard line, odds are that Cam will either have his number called – or call it himself, making him a really intriguing option this week in a game where I think the Pats will clear their projected total of 24.75 points. He has scored on the ground in all but two games, and all in all – there is a lot to like about this spot for him and by rostering him, you have some more cash to splash at some other positions this week.
RB- Alvin Kamara- $34
Kamara missed practice today with an ankle issue, but also said that he’ll be fine so it looks like he’ll be suiting up this week. While he’s expensive, I think the high spend on him is easily justified. He has been elite as a receiver out of the backfield all season long, and while I don’t envision him scoring 3x like he did in Week 10 – a match-up with the Falcons should see Jameis and company put plenty of points on the board. I wouldn’t be surprised one bit if he saw 8+ targets in this one and he offers some nice savings when compared with the other elite high spend at RB this week which will help you round out your roster. This is a great spot for Kamara this week.
WR- Diontae Johnson.- $18
In every game that he has finished this season, Johnson has seen double digit targets, clearly earning the trust of Ben Roethlisberger. He plays a similar role to what we used to see from Antonio Brown in terms of the route tree that he’s running, and in a plus match-up with a Jacksonville secondary that has been vulnerable to opposing pass catchers all season long – he is an outstanding value play at this price point. Could he get injured and leave early? Sure. Is that more of a risk with Johnson than any other player? Quite possibly. But I think it’s well worth the risk and you’ll be hard pressed to find another WR that offers what he brings to the table for less than $20 this week.
WR- Keenan Allen- $25
Allen was held in check for the vast majority of Week 10’s loss to Miami before scoring a TD late, salvaging a little bit of a fantasy line for one of the most popular options on last week’s slate. This week he gets a much better match-up, going up against the Jets in a game that I expect Justin Herbert to bounce back from last week’s struggles. His price point doesn’t break the bank, and he offers outstanding value for a high floor, high ceiling option. He ranks 3rd in the NFL in targets on the season at 93, and I expect double digit looks to go his way this week. He has a good shot of being the highest producer at the position and the only downside to rostering him this week in my opinion is the fact that I expect him to be very popular from an ownership perspective.
