Welcome to the WNBA Rundown for FanDuel and DraftKings contests on Wednesday, September 9, 2020.
Guards to Target
Kaila Charles ($5,100 DK/$4,600 FD)- Charles is easily the best value play on this slate as she is going to play a ton of minutes for the Sun with Jasmine Thomas and Briann January both out. Charles is not only going to play a ton of minutes but I really like her match-up against the Mercury as they are not the same defensive team without Brittney Griner in the lineup. Charles also played well against them on Monday when these two teams faced off with six points, five rebounds, three assists, and two steals on her way to 18.5 fantasy points.
Marina Mabrey ($7,300 DK/$5,200 FD)- This is a tough match-up for Mabrey as she takes on the elite Storm defense but even with the awful match-up I love Mabrey. The reason why I love Mabrey so much is due to the way she is playing over her past ten games. Mabrey has played at least 25 minutes in nine of those ten games and is averaging 13.1 points, 4.1 rebounds, three assists, and 1.6 steals in those games. Mabrey has produced at least 18 fantasy points in each of those games and is averaging 25.8 fantasy points during this stretch.
Forwards to Target
Breanna Stewart ($11,600 DK/$8,000 FD)- While Stewart has not been bad recently she has not been worth her hefty salary recently. With that being said my gut is telling me that Stewart has a huge game tonight as I love the match-up against the Wings. The Wings are allowing the fourth-most points per game this season and second-most rebounds per game. The only real worry I have with Stewart tonight is if she plays her full allotment of minutes as I don’t believe the Storm can lose one of the top two spots which would give them a bye to the semifinals of the playoffs.
Brianna Turner ($9,100 DK/$6,900 FD)- I did not get a lot of exposure to Turner on my initial crunches but I am sure that is going to change throughout the day as she might be the only forward still left standing on the Mercury by the time their game starts. The Mercury as you should know are without Brittney Griner as they have been for a number of games and will be without Nia Coffey tonight as well. Kia Vaughn and Alanna Smith both also have a great chance to sit as they are listed questionable and this is a meaningless game for the Mercury. Even if Vaughn and Smith both play tonight I am going to be all over Turner as she is putting up big numbers with Griner out of the lineup. In those eight games, Turner is averaging 7.1 points, 11.8 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.1 steals, and 3.5 blocks. Turner has at least 26 fantasy points in all but one of those eight games and is averaging 37 fantasy points during this stretch of games.
