NHL Advanced DFS Cheat Sheets | Monday, August 31, 2020
Looking for a quick consolidated list of options to play today? Let’s take a look at our DraftKings and FanDuel Cheat Sheets to help navigate today’s slate!
Monday gives us two games on the NHL playoff slate on DraftKings and FanDuel, starting off with the Bruins and Lightning playing game 5 with Tampa up three games to one while Dallas and Colorado round out the night’s action with their fifth game – Dallas leading this series 3 games to 1.
Tampa has taken control of this series after losing game one, coming back to win three straight – and look to finish off this series tonight. They’ll be in tough against a desperate team with a proven track record of playoff success – though there is no denying the talent that Tampa rolls out across their top three lines. The top line for Tampa will be among the most popular options to stack tonight and they don’t break the bank in salary thanks to the price point on Palat, who has been outstanding since potting the winner in OT in game 2. They all play on the top PP unit as well along with Killorn from TB2 and Sergachev on the back-end, who is an affordable option. Hedman is their best defencemen, and an elite DFS producer when he’s on – so don’t ignore him based on his PP2 status. The second and third lines are worth mixing into your builds here as well, either as part of two or three man stacks, or as isolated options with Coleman and Gourde as my favourites of the bunch. For Boston, they’ll live and die by their top line and top PP unit (BOS1 plus Krug on the back-end and Krejci up front). They’ve been quiet for their usual standards in the past two games, but are going to be leaned on heavily by the Bruins in a must-win game. I expect Tampa to be more popular with the masses, which does put the big guns along with Halak in net in an interesting spot tonight, as at their prices, I could see them being lower owned than they should be tonight. BOS2 is worth minimal exposure here as well for those in MME formats.
For the second game, the Stars won 5-4 last night in a game that wasn’t as close as the score would indicate. The top line for the Avs was shockingly quiet in this one – and it’s hard to imagine that they will be held in check on back to back nights. COL2 had a massive game last night in a losing cause, and though they have cheap price points, this seems to be a case of chasing points as Kadri is the only one that I think is worth having significant exposure to tonight given his role on the top PP unit. COL3 led by Compher could be used as a contrarian value stack for 6-10% to pair with an expensive stacking option. For Dallas, their top line remains an elite stacking option along with the top PP unit and DAL2 is worth mixing into your builds as well – though I think you can stick to a two man stack here with Pavelski and Gurianov. Stacking DAL PP2 seems to be another case of chasing points – though they do open up a lot from a salary standpoint if they do have another big day, and I’m not expecting them to be a popular stack today. In net, Francouz was pretty dismal for Colorado tonight, but if you think the Avs are going to win – assuming he draws the start tonight, he could be an interesting game theory edge. I expect Khudobin to get peppered with shots in this one giving him a good chance for the 35 save bonus – and I expect him to be highly owned tonight, assuming he gets the start on the back-to-back.
Good luck in your contests tonight & I hope you enjoy today’s NHL Playoff action!
