DraftKings NBA DFS Core Plays & Cheat Sheet – January 20, 2020 (Early Slate)

Sharing core plays and a cheat sheet for January 20, 2020, NBA DFS slate on DraftKings Early Slate.

In this post, we will be breaking down our top options and plays for DraftKings for each night of the 2019-2020 NBA DFS season.

Core Plays

PG-Elfrid Payton-$5,300

Payton had a two-game stretch for the Knicks where he didn’t play a lot of minutes but was back up over 30 minutes last game and should see similar minutes again today and that makes him a steal at his salary for two reasons. The first of those reasons is Payton is putting up numbers this season and is averaging right at a fantasy point per minute this year. The second is due to Payton’s elite match-up against the Cavs. The Cavs are one of the worst defensive teams in the NBA. This season they have the second-worst team defensive net rating and are allowing the most fantasy points per game to point guards.

SG/SF-Bradley Beal-$7,300

This might be a gut call as Beal has not done crap since his return from injury but with two days off I really like Beal today as we should see him back to playing his full allotment of minutes. The match-up against the Pistons also doesn’t hurt Beal as they are not very good defensively ranking 21st in defensive net rating. Beal has also played well against them this season averaging 1.26 fantasy points per minute in their three meetings. What I love most about Beal is his salary as he is priced way down due to those bad performances in his return from injury.

C-Norvel Pelle-$3,000

Pelle is a big risk today as there is a big chance he doesn’t play today. With that being said he is a risk I am willing to take as I don’t believe that Al Horford is able to play today. If Horford is out as I expect we will see Pelle called up from the G League and will see him likely start in place of Horford with Joel Embiid out as well. Anytime I can get a starting center at the minimum salary I am going to do it, especially when that center is facing the Nets who have been one of the best match-ups for centers for years and this season are allowing the fifth-most fantasy points per game to the position.

We are still waiting on word on Al Horford’s availability but one thing we do know is Norvel Pelle is not going to play today as the 76ers are keeping him in the G-League. With Pelle out, I am a huge fan of Kyle O’Quinn for just a little more in salary regardless of Horford’s availability. If Horford is out I am hitting the lock button on KOQ on the early slate.

Cheat Sheet

Please note that we can only list a player at one position on the cheat sheets and unless otherwise noted I like the player at both of their eligible positions.
