Sharing core plays and a cheat sheet for January 13, 2020, NBA DFS slate on DraftKings.
Welcome to our NBA Core Plays & Cheat Sheet column for DraftKings.
We’ll be sharing this article with you for all main slates (2 games+) over the course of the 2019-2020 NBA season. Let’s get at it!
The Pelicans have been the slate’s softest defence over the last couple weeks
Christian Wood bounced back to show he belongs with 47.5 fantasy points on 26 minutes of 25.2% usage last game, and even though going 8 for 12 from the field while adding 3 blocks isn’t something you can safely project most nights, the DvP friendliness of this one and a ridiculously low $3,700 price tag keeps him as a premium value target here. I have no idea why DK priced him down -$400 after a big game 2 nights ago. The return of Markieff Morris shouldn’t keep him down to much if he keeps this track up (as long as Blake Griffin is sidelined, anyways).
I love Bruce Brown as a play (FD in particular based on where the price-value equation adds up), but Svi Mykhailiuk is the $3,200 price play of the day in my eyes. At SG/SF eligible and only $200 above minimum – for a guy that has hit the 20+ DKP mark in 6 of his last 7 games, and is in a plus DvP situation, you have to take advantage of this price.
Loving a key Celtic play against the Bulls tonight
My favourite Celtic on the board today is Jayson Tatum, even though he’s up to $7,700. His last 2 games have been phenomenal, with 41.5 and 63.5 fantasy points against the Sixers and Pelicans respectively. The Bulls rank last on the slate in terms of opposing points to PF (49.6 FPPG) over the season, and his high minutes, high usage role give him a great level of upside along with a strong floor.
Don’t sleep on Trevor Ariza at his price
In case you’ve missed it, Ariza has been working his way back into the fold as a fantasy stud thanks to 32, 31 and 32 minutes in his last 3 games to go along with double-digit scoring, 6+ rebounds and 2+ steals per game in that time. He’s one of the first guys off the bench for the Kings, providing some much-needed defense for them while hitting some open 3s when the opportunity presents itself, too. At just $4,400 (down -$300 for some reason), he’s a steal.
Please note that we can only list a player at one position on the cheat sheets and unless otherwise noted I like the player at both of their eligible positions.
