DraftKings NBA DFS Core Plays & Cheat Sheet – January 10, 2020

Sharing core plays and a cheat sheet for January 10, 2020, NBA DFS slate on DraftKings.

Welcome to our NBA Core Plays & Cheat Sheet column for DraftKings.

We’ll be sharing this article with you for all main slates (2 games+) over the course of the 2019-2020 NBA season. Let’s get at it!

Core Plays

The injury to Jrue Holiday opens up floor time for Josh Hart & J.J. Redick to do some damage

With Holiday off the floor this year, Hart has an easier path to 30 minutes and upper-20s fantasy point production. He chips in across the board, and has 28+ FP in 2 of his last 3 games. Another start and 30+ minutes is pretty easy to draw up here for only $5,100.

At +$500 over Hart, Redick makes for an interesting cash game play as well. He’s seen an increase in minutes, touches and overall usage with Holiday off the floor. As more of a scorer, his value is tied to the ball getting into the bucket. But with the additional reliance on his shoulders, his floor increases to 25 points which could deliver a 4.5-5.5 ROI in all likelihood.

Paul George sitting out tonight’s game puts all eyes on Kawhi Leonard, but don’t sleep on Lou Williams, too

This year, in 10 games without George active, Kawhi has averaged a 37.2% usage rate (+3.1% versus his season-long average) and over 50 FP per 36 minutes of action. His 30.5% AST% leads the team in the split, and in a cake-walk match-up against the Warriors, he’s a good bet to deliver a nice performance for cash games in particular (he ain’t a freebie price-wise, by any means).

Bam Adebayo should be popular for MIA (rightfully so), but I’m giving Jimmy Butler the leg up on my exposure list

Over the last couple of weeks, the Nets have actually shored up their defense against PFs and Cs more than the season-long numbers suggest. In fact, they’ve been above league average in both regards in terms of opposing FPPG allowed. But, they’ve been doing so at the expense of production to opposing PGs and SGs. Enter Jimmy Buckets, who should dominate the Nets for a 38-45 point game. At his $8,000 salary (down from as high as $9,400 as recently as a few weeks ago), he’ll pay off at 5+ ROI with ease (to go along with a nice high floor). He’s had 35+ FP in 7 straight, reaching as high as 55.75 FP against the Sixers just 5 games ago (and 50.5 against ORL just 2 games ago). This is the kind of match-up that he could easily reach that ceiling, too.

The one other guy to quickly call out is Lonnie Walker IV, who is really starting to contribute with consistency for the Spurs

As the Spurs usually do – find value in the middle to lower ends of the draft and develop talent the San Antonio way – Walker is starting to look like one of those guys. He was taken in 2018 with the 18th pick, and has seen his minutes increase to what is almost 20 MPG of late. His per 36 minutes metrics are quite encouraging (18.1/6.3/1.8/1.0/0.4) – and if we chop that in half (to help get a good projection of what he’s currently able to do in about 20 MPG), we see a 9/3/1/1 kind of average. Nothing special, but something we can still find value in at $3,700 for SG/SF eligibility – not to mention a game with a very healthy total and projected pace. With 19.75+ FP in 3 of his last 4 games (nice usage off the bench, too) – his stock is pointing up and the ownership will remain low as much of the DFS community hasn’t quite started to flock towards his direction. Low risk, medium/upper-medium reward here.

Cheat Sheet

Please note that we can only list a player at one position on the cheat sheets and unless otherwise noted I like the player at both of their eligible positions.
