Sharing our core plays and cheat sheet for the Week 14 2019 NFL DFS slate on FanDuel.
In this column, we’ll share 4 core plays for FanDuel on a weekly basis, as well as our cheat sheet for the week’s main slate.
QB – Ryan Fitzpatrick, MIA @ NYJ, $7,400
In no way, shape or form is Fitzpatrick the most talented QB in the NFL. Not by a long shot. But has he been a productive fantasy QB based on team and game flow dynamics of late? Absolutely. With back to back games of at least 25 fantasy points and 39 passing attempts, 3+ rushing attempts and 3 combined passing/rushing TDs in each – he’s got to be back on the radar as a value QB worth having exposure to. Particularly when we look at the situation the Dolphins find themselves in right now.
They just lost Kalen Ballage for the year. Mark Walton can’t stay out of his own way and is basically out of the NFL. They traded Kenyan Drake. They literally have nobody to run the football right now – and they also happen to face one of the league’s most daunting defensive groups against the rush. All signs point to a ton of passing attempts for Fitzpatrick here, and you have a love the potential for a 40+ tosses kind of game here. Even with an inefficient passing line, the emergence of Parker and guys like Giesicki through the air give him more options to work with than earlier in the year. Volume will be there. Price is rock solid. Ownership should be pretty low. Get him active.
RB – Derrick Henry, TEN @ OAK, $9,100
The price has really skyrocketed from the $6,800 just 5 weeks ago all the way to being the #2 RB on the main slate this week behind Christin McCaffrey. Even at $9,100, there’s so much good value on the slate to be had that you shouldn’t have an ounce of trouble finding room for the Titans’ beast mode here.
He’s put together a tremendous and MVP-like 4 game stretch, with 22+ FP in an astounding 4 straight games, with a couple of those coming against some more difficult DvP situations (@IND being one of them last week where he still went for 149 yards on the ground and a score on a whopping 26 attempts). The touches (and even a few passing targets) are being funnelled his way these days, and OAK ranks as one of the softest defensive groups against the run this year. Take full advantage and enjoy the ride once again here as he’ll shoulder the load and has 30 touch (or at least opportunity) upside.
WR – DeVante Parker, MIA @ NYJ, $7,200
We have him at a 6.5% ownership projection right now on FC Pro, but I do expect that to climb and/or prove to be understated when lineups lock on Sunday. Parker has been great for the Dolphins since week 4, with at least 8 FP in each game and 12+ in 3 straight – not to mention a 31.4 FP outburst on Sunday against the Eagles.
Well, the air is how you want to attack the Jets these days, and lord knows the Dolphins aren’t going to be able to muster even the slightest run game against a stout group up front. With double-digit targets in 4 straight – Parker is a reliable fringe WR1 in fantasy right now that needs serious love on this slate. He’s a great play with and without Fitzmagic here at a price that still leaves plenty of profit.
TE – Jack Doyle, IND @ TB, $6,300
The Bucs aren’t an easy team to run on, ranking in the top 5 against the RB position from a relative strength perspective. We also have a pretty messy run game for the Colts who travel to Tampa here, with so much uncertainty and competition for touches between the likes of Hines, Wilkins, Williams and maybe even Marlon Mack if he’s going to make his expected return.
So, instead of focusing on the ground game, I’m keying in on Doyle who is a very safe middle-tier TE with a plus DvP situation and going in a game that should see Brissett throw the ball on the higher side of his seasonal average. He had 11 targets last week against the Titans, looking very much like the guy that wants to step up with Eric Ebron on IR to take on those additional targets.
Watching much of that game myself, he looked very good running some key routes over the middle and on the sidelines, making tough catches when they needed conversions (6-73-1 in the end). In a world where the top 2-3 TEs are elite and the rest are a bit of a dice roll, he makes for a plus game script play at a solid price that still delivers a modest floor with a nice ceiling. If TY Hilton is out once again here too – and Chester Rogers is out of the picture as well – Brissett will have no choice but to look Doyle’s way for 8-12 targets (something you have to love for the TE position this year).
