Welcome to the FC Insights Core Plays and Cheat Sheet Article for FantasyDraft.
In this post, we will be breaking down our top options and plays for FantasyDraft for each night of the 2019-2020 NBA DFS season.
G-Dennis Smith Jr.-$6,000
Smith has had a rough season as he has dealt with injuries, personal issues, and an overall lack of playing time due to the sheer number of point guards that the Knicks have. With that being said Smith is my favorite player on this slate as he should play heavy minutes as the only healthy Knicks point guard with Elfrid Payton out and Frank Ntilikina not expected to play after leaving yesterday’s game due to an injury. In his two previous games that Smith has played over 30 minutes including yesterday’s game, he is averaging 15 points, 3.5 rebounds, 7.5 assists, and 32.63 fantasy points. Smith has not only played well when given the minutes but the match-up against the Bucks is one I like to target. This season the Bucks have really struggled in stopping point guards allowing the sixth-most fantasy points per game to the position.
I am only on Knox if Marcus Morris is out tonight but I don’t personally see how Morris plays after missing yesterday’s game with neck spasms. That injury seems like more than a couple hour injury to me. If Morris is out we should see Knox start and in his two previous starts, Knox has played well with averages of eight points, four rebounds, 1.5 assists, and two steals+blocks. Knox has at least 17 fantasy points in each of those starts and would likely hit that mark once again tonight which would pay off his salary with ease. What I really love about Knox is rostering Knox along with Dennis Smith Jr. who I talked about earlier allows you to afford both Giannis Antetokounmpo and Trae Young with ease tonight.
Jones is priced up a bit on FantasyDraft but is still probably a bit underpriced for what his role is going to be tonight with Ja Morant out. With Morant out, we should see Jones start which is a role he has thrived in this season. In his two previous starts, Jones is averaging 13 points, three rebounds, 7.5 assists, and a steal. Jones has produced at least 30 fantasy points in each of those games. Jones is not only going to get a huge boost with Morant out but the match-up against the Pacers is an elite one. Over their past seven games, the Pacers are allowing the third-most fantasy points per game to point guards.
