Week 7 NFL DFS Defensive (DST) Targets For FanDuel & DraftKings

Welcome to the FC Insights Defensive Targets Article. In this post, we will be breaking down our top options and plays at the DST position for each DFS week of the 2019-2020 NFL DFS season.

In this article, I am going to give you the top three defenses in my personal model which uses a number of factors like Vegas total, match-up, salary, etc. Please note that just because a player is not in this article doesn’t mean that I don’t like them or that they are not in my player pool.

Last Weeks Results

Based off of DraftKings scoring

  1. Redskins (10.00 fantasy points, 3.1x value, DST3)
  2. Ravens (5.00 fantasy points, 1.2x value, DST10)
  3. Seahawks (9.00 fantasy points, 2.6x value, DST5)

49ers ($5,000 FD, $4,100 DK)

This 49ers defense is legit. This season they are allowing the second-fewest points at 12.8 per game, rank in the top ten of the NFL in sacks with 17 and are fourth in the NFL in takeaways with 12. The 49ers defense has produced at least seven fantasy points in each game this season and is first on this slate in fantasy points allowed per game with 14. This week it is hard to see the 49ers defense suddenly having a bad game as they face the Redskins. The Redskins rank in the bottom five in giveaways this season with 11, points per game with 15.0, and fantasy points allowed per game to opposing defenses.

Bills ($5,500 FD, $4,300 DK)

The Dolphins are just dog crap on offense and any team facing them is a top play. This season they are averaging the fewest points per game with 8.4, have allowed at least three sacks in each game this season, and have turned the ball over at least once in every game this season. Every defense that has faced the Dolphins has produced at least double-digit fantasy points and the Bills are not the team that is going to break this streak as they have a great defense. The Bills are allowing the fourth-fewest points per game at 14.0 and have produced double-digit fantasy points in three of their five games this season. The only reason the Bills are not my number ranked defense is their salary as for a little cheaper in salary on both sites I would rather have the 49ers who I talked about earlier in this article.

Dolphins ($2,500 FD, $1,500 DK)

The Dolphins are a bad defense. I know this you know this but at their salary this week they should be on your radar. The Dolphins are the lowest priced defense on both sites by a wide margin and rostering them much like rostering the Jets last week on DraftKings allows you extra salary to spend at other positions. Besides the salary, the match-up with the Bills is also a positive one. The Bills offense is not a very good one. This season they are only averaging 18 points per game which is eighth least in the NFL. They have also shown to be a turnover-prone team as they have 11 giveaways on the season which is tied for seventh-most in the NFL. Four of the five opposing defenses that have faced the Bills this season have produced at least five fantasy points and if the Dolphins can put up that number this week which I know is asking a lot as they have not even scored five fantasy points all season long they will pay off their salary.
