MLB Playoffs 2019 – DFS Strategy for the October 8 Single Game Slate (HOU @ TB)

MLB Playoffs 2019 – DFS Strategy for the October 8, 2019 single game slate.

Breaking down some of the top plays and strategies for attacking the MLB Playoff DFS slate on FanDuel & DraftKings.

The Tuesday slate features one game – with the Astros visiting the Rays for game 4 of their series.

Charlie Morton was pretty good yesterday. Zack Greinke was not.

The Rays have forced a game 4, but in all likelihood this is going to have them going up against Justin Verlander on short rest – or perhaps Jose Urquidy if they want to save Verlander (and Gerrit Cole) for a possible game 5. That said, I expect they’ll roll Verlander out there to have Cole in the back pocket in case game 5 comes around.

The Rays will probably counter with a combination of Ryan Yarbrough and Yonny Chirinos. Nothing to get too excited about here, which should only make the Astros more popular.

Here are the SP splits you need to know about.

Extreme split towards RHBs against Urquidy – they have a .344 wOBA and 1.4 HR/9 against him this year.

Yonny Chirinos has a pretty significant split against RHBs as well; .310 wOBA and 1.44 HR/9.

Yarbrough has been pretty effective the last 2 years against both RHBs and LHBs – with LHBs actually having higher HH% splits and a slightly higher HR/9. Don’t sleep on lefties against him today, especially with the light tower power of Yordan Alvarez.

The bats I expect we’ll see as really popular: George Springer, Alex Bregman, Yordan Alvarez, Jose Altuve.

Lower-own% bats that I like here: Austin Meadows, Tommy Pham, Kevin Kiermaier, Brandon Lowe, Willy Adames.

On DK for the captain spot, I really like Altuve ($12,000) – and I don’t think it’s crazy to spend down there to have a well-rounded lineup if you want to make sure you roster a guy like Kiermaier or even Willy Adames who is hitting the ball extremely well these days (3 for 3 yesterday with a HR; on base 6 times in his last 2 games).

Given that HOU didn’t have to use their higher-end RPs yesterday, Roberto Osuna, Ryan Pressly and Will Harris are all in play as $3K options as well. Perfect to balance out with elite bats.

Best of luck!
