Cubs vs. Ivan Nova (Projected total: TBD)
The Cubs have not been hitting the ball well over the past two weeks ranking 19th in runs scored, 20th in ISO and 23rd in wOBA but should turn things around in a big way tonight against Ivan Nova. In his 14 starts, Nova has an ERA of 6.28, an HR/9 rate of 1.63 and a WHIP of 1.60. Nova struggles against hitters from both sides of the plate but more so left-handed hitters. Over the past two calendar years, Nova is allowing lefties to slash .323/.363/.556 with a .385 wOBA and an HR/9 rate of 1.9. The Cubs are projected to have five of their eight hitters hit from that side of the plate with two of the three hitters hitting from the right side of the plate being Kris Bryant and Javier Baez who are two of the best hitters in the majors.
Yesterday’s Results: Angels 10 runs, 13 hits, 6 walks, 4 home runs
Dodgers vs. Shaun Anderson (Projected total: 4.6)
The Dodgers let us down last night but I am forgetting about their performance and going right back to them tonight as they are still dirt cheap outside of Cody Bellinger and Max Muncy and crush right-handed pitching. The Dodgers rank in the top three in team ISO, team wOBA, team wRC+, and team OPS against righties this season. The right-hander they are facing Shaun Anderson is also a pitcher that I like to target hitters against. Anderson doesn’t have bad numbers in his six career starts and has an elite ground ball rate but is not a good pitcher and strikes little to no one out.
Yesterday’s Results: Dodgers 2 runs, 5 hits, 5 walks, 1 home run
Tigers vs. Mitch Keller (Projected total: 3.8)
I am personally going to be rostering Mitch Keller tonight as I think he is a lot better than he has shown in his career and the Tigers suck against right-handed pitching. With that being said I can see using the Tigers tonight if you think Keller struggles as he has in his first two career starts. In those two starts, Keller has allowed 12 runs on 17 hits with four walks in just seven innings of action.
Yesterday’s Results: Marlins 0 runs, 8 hits, 0 walks, 0 home runs
