Welcome to the Daily Four Pack where we share four core players on FanDuel that you are going to want to target for MLB DFS contests on Sunday, June 16, 2019.
In this article, I am going to give you four core plays that I am using in cash games for the main slate of games. This core will include my favorite pitcher, my favorite expensive hitter, my favorite mid-tier hitter, and my top value hitter. For my value hitter, the hitter must be under $3,000 in salary to be considered and for the mid-tier hitter, they must be between $3,000 and $3,900 in salary.
Pitcher to Target
Peacock is coming off a bad start against the Brewers and doesn’t always pitch deep into games but he is my favorite pitcher on this slate as he had been pitching great. In his previous six games, Peacock had an ERA of 1.32, a WHIP of 0.94 and a K rate of 29.9% while pitching at least five innings in each start. Peacock has not just been pitching well but he is also in an excellent match-up against the Blue Jays. The Blue Jays even with calling up their prospects are still not a good hitting team and this season they rank 24th in team ISO and 28th in team wOBA against right-handed pitching. The Blue Jays also strike out at a very high clip against righties with a team K rate of 25.0% which is the fifth highest in the majors.

Stud Hitter to Target
OF-Ronald Acuna Jr.-$4,000
We don’t know if Cole Irvin is going to start for the Phillies but we do know he is going to pitch the bulk of the innings and that makes Acuna Jr. one of my top plays. While Irvin is not a bad pitcher he has not exactly been good in his rookie season. He is also left-handed and Acuna Jr. has destroyed left-handed pitching in his young career. Coming into today’s game Acuna Jr. has an OPS of 1.006, an ISO of .303 and a wOBA of .418 in his career against left-handed pitching.

Mid-Tier Hitter to Target
In his six starts since his return from injury, Gregorius has multiple hits in five of the games yet somehow still remains under $3,500 in salary. That salary makes him a core play once again today especially when you factor in his match-up with Odrisamer Despaigne. Despaigne has struggled against left-handed hitting throughout his career and since the start of the 2017 season, he is allowing them to slash .324/.397/.441 with a .362 wOBA.

Value Hitter to Target
McCann may seem like an odd choice for this article but I love him today for several reasons. The first is McCann is hitting the ball well right now. McCann has reached base safely in 13 of his past 14 games. In those games, McCann is slashing .320/.404/.420 with a .354 wOBA. The second reason I love McCann today is the fact he is facing a left-handed pitcher. McCann has had a lot of success against lefties in his career and comes into today’s game with an OPS of .929, an ISO of .200 and a wOBA of .396 against lefties this season. The last and final reason why I like McCann is the fact that the lefty he is facing James Paxton is struggling. Paxton looks to still be dealing with an injury and in his last two starts, he has allowed ten runs and has not managed to get out of the fifth inning in both starts.
