Let’s take a closer look at some plays for today’s contests with our “Fearsome 4” picks for the day’s slate.
Injuries to watch
- I am writing this article on Saturday night and don’t have the full injury reports as of this writing.
Natasha Howard, F, SEA
Howard has struggled in her two games against the Lynx this season but has been excellent in her other three games. In those games, Howard is averaging 20 points, 9.67 rebounds, three steals and 2.33 blocks. Howard has produced at least 40 fantasy points in each of those three games. One of those games was against the same Sky team that she faces today and there is no reason to believe she can’t repeat that performance. The Sky allow the most points per game, most rebounds per game and most fantasy points per game dating back to last season.
Jantel Lavender, F, CHI
Lavender is way too cheap for the production we have seen from her this season. In her three games, Lavender is averaging 11 points, five rebounds, and 20.2 fantasy points in 27.66 minutes a game. One of those three games was against the same Storm team she faces today and while the Storm are one of the better defensive teams in the WNBA Lavender should have similar production in this one.
Leilani Mitchell, G, PHO
After being cut by the Mercury in camp due to salary cap reasons the Mercury bough Mitchell back into the fold due to injuries and immediately played her 24 minutes in her return. Mitchell didn’t light the world on fire in those minutes from a fantasy perspective with only 10.7 fantasy points she did see a usage rate of 26.5%. The minutes and usage rate along with her salary are what makes her a core play for me on this slate as Mitchell is only $3,300 on FanDuel and $4,600 on DraftKings.
Liz Cambage, F, LV
Today we should see Cambage play over 20 minutes as she has seen an increase in minutes in each game this season and is coming off a game in which she played 19 minutes but we are still getting her priced as if she was playing limited minutes and that is why she is a core play of mine. Cambage is averaging 1.5 fantasy points per minute this season and has the third highest usage rate in the WNBA at 33.9%. Cambage is also in one of the best match-ups in the WNBA as she faces a Liberty team that is allowing the second most points per game this season.
