The Daily Three Pack – DraftKings MLB DFS Picks- May 23, 2019

Welcome to the Daily Three Pack where we share three core players on DraftKings that you are going to want to target for MLB DFS contests on Thursday, May 23, 2019.

In this article, I am going to give you three core plays that I am using in cash games for the Early Slate of action today, which has six games.  Today is a rare day where we have a 2 game night slate, so I have shifted the focus of this piece to talk about the Early Slate of action, which has many more games.

Pitcher to Target

Jordan Lyles – $8,500

While his sub 2.00 ERA is not sustainable, there are numerous metrics that leave him as an attractive option at an affordable price point this afternoon.  He has over a strike-out per inning, has a respectable SIERA of 3.99 – and a FIP of 3.21.  He faces a Colorado team that has been dismal away from Coors Field this year, posting a 26.9% whiff rate to go along with a .290 wOBA, putting Lyles in a great spot for success this afternoon.

Yesterday’s Results: Jose Urena 18.10 fantasy points

Hitters to Target

OF Aaron Hicks – $4,500

Hicks is an affordable way to get expousre to the Yankees this afternoon, as they go up against Dylan Bundy.  Bundy has been homer prone for the past season and change, and so far in 2019 he has picked up where he left off in 2018, allowing 2.14 HR/9 a year ago and 2.15 this year.  Hicks has been solid since being re-instated into the Yankees line-up after missing the start of the year, and that is the only reason you have a shot at getting him at a discounted price today compared with all the other Yankees bats.

Yesterday’s Results: Freddie Freeman 22.00 fantasy points

1B Steve Pearce – $3,100

With Clayton Richard set to take to the mound for the Jays, I expect Pearce to be in the line-up for the Red Sox after getting the night off last night.  Pearce has had a very slow start to the year, but you have a shot at getting him at a price that is almost free, and his track record against southpaws is a significant enough of a sample size to give him a mulligan on his 2019 performance.

Yesterday’s Results: Gleyber Torres: 28.00 fantasy points
