The Hitting Rundown: Featuring stacks to target for the FanDuel & DraftKings MLB DFS slate on May 20, 2019 (5/20).
Number of Games: 8
Teams with high projected run totals (5.0 or above): NYY (5.6), SEA (5.0), TEX (6.1)
Teams with low projected run totals (3.5 or below): ARI (3.3)
Games with weather concerns: SEA-TEX (Low)
Yankees vs. Andrew Cashner (Projected total: 5.6)
The Yankees are still missing Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton but outside of those two studs they are finally healthy and starting to hit. Over the past week, the Yankees rank 12th in team wOBA and seventh in team ISO and are coming off a game in which they scored 13 runs. The Yankees are not only starting to heat up but their match-up tonight is one of the best in the majors as they get to take on Andrew Cashner. Cashner has not been horrible this season but still has a FIP of 4.71, an HR/9 rate of 1.49 and a WHIP of 1.32. Cashner really struggles against right-handed hitters which the Yankees have plenty of with at least six of their hitters hitting from that side of the plate. Since the start of last season, Cashner is allowing right-handed hitters to slash .298/.365/.491 with a .366 wOBA.
Yesterday’s Results: Athletics 5 runs, 10 hits, 4 walks, 0 home runs in a game that was suspended
Phillies vs. Yu Darvish (Projected total: TBD)
There really are not any value stacks that stand out to me on this slate. Instead of giving you a stack that I personally am not playing I wanted to give you one of my favorite stacks that is likely to be very low owned in the Phillies. The Phillies are facing off against Yu Darvish who while being a big name pitcher is not very good. Darvish still has the ability to strike out hitters at an elite rate but he also struggles with his command and the long ball. Darvish has a walk rate of 17.2% this season which is highest in the majors and also has an HR/9 rate of 1.71 which is 15th highest in the majors. Darvish, of course, has a very high WHIP of 1.62 due to the walks and also has a high FIP of 5.52 to go along with all of those bad numbers.
Yesterday’s Results: Indians 10 runs, 11 hits, 7 walks, 1 home run
