The Daily Three Pack – FanDuel MLB DFS Picks- May 17, 2019

Welcome to the Daily Three Pack where we share three core players on FanDuel that you are going to want to target for MLB DFS contests on Friday, May 17, 2019.

In this article, I am going to give you three core plays that I am using in cash games for the main slate of games. This core will include my favorite pitcher, my favorite hitter, and my top value hitter. For my value hitter, the hitter must be under $3,000 in salary to be considered.

Pitcher to Target

Jacob deGrom-$12,000

You all should know by now that I don’t like to spend up at the pitcher position especially on large slates like tonight but even I am having a hard time not playing deGrom tonight. deGrom after an injury scare is back to being the dominant pitcher we saw last season. In his three starts this month he has allowed a total of three runs while striking out a batter per inning and pitching at least seven innings in each start. deGrom has produced at least 40 fantasy points in each of those starts. One of those starts came against the same Marlins team he faces tonight and there is no doubt in my mind that deGrom is going to destroy them again. deGrom has faced the Marlins twice this season and in those two starts, he has pitched 14 innings allowed one run and struck out 22. deGrom has not only dominated the Marlins in his two starts but the Marlins, in general, are the best possible match-up for right-handed pitching. This season they rank dead last in team OPS, team ISO, and team wOBA while having the second highest team K rate at 27.1% against righties.

Yesterday’s Results: Eric Lauer 23.0 fantasy points

Hitter to Target

3B-Nolan Arenado-$4,400

Cole Irvin looked really good in his first career start and should have a solid start again tonight as he takes on the Rockies away from Coors who are likely to be without Trevor Story. While I like Irvin to have a solid start I do think the left-hander struggles against one Rockies hitter. That one hitter is Arenado who may be the best hitter against left-handed pitching in the majors. Since the start of 2017, Arenado has an OPS of 1.257, an ISO of .408 and a wOBA of .510 against lefties. Those numbers are not even aided that much by Coors as Arenado’s numbers in that time period on the road against lefties are an OPS of 1.160, an ISO of .368 and a wOBA of .472.

Yesterday’s Results: Freddie Freeman 37.6 fantasy points

Value Hitter to Target

OF-Austin Riley-$2,100

FanDuel is not only slow to add top prospects to their player pool but they are slow to adjust their salaries. That is the case with Riley tonight as there is no way the Braves stud prospect should only be $100 above site minimum tonight. Riley has four hits in his first two games including a double and a home run. Riley has produced over 18 fantasy points in each of those games. Riley is not only tearing the cover off the ball but he is in an elite match-up against Jhoulys Chacin. Chacin has really struggled on the road this season especially against right-handed hitters. This season in road games right-handers are slashing .346/.393/.558 with a .403 wOBA against Chacin.

Yesterday’s Results: Vladimir Guerrero Jr. 0.0 fantasy points
