DraftKings Xfinity NASCAR DFS – Alsco Uniforms 300 – May 28, 2022 (5/28/22)
Ty Gibbs – $11,000 – Starting 36th
There is nothing groundbreaking or deep about this play, but Ty Gibbs starts 36th after not being able to post a qualifying time and will be scored from the 36th position. Gibbs will have to fall to the back due to the adjustments, but we are cutting hairs at that point as 36th, 37th, or 38th the ceiling is the same here. Last year at Charolette, Gibbs spun early but still managed to rally back and win the race in the end. Gibbs hit the wall in practice on Friday, but ultimately it seems like it is nothing that will have any lingering effects besides him not being able to post a qualifying time. In 12 races this year, Ty Gibbs has six top-ten finishes and three wins. He also carries an average finish of 10.2. Gibbs has only finished worse than 16th once over his last 10 starts. Even a 16th place finish would see the place differential upside here being too good to pass up. Factor in the dominator points we can still look towards for fast laps and Gibbs ceiling just ends up being the highest on the slate next to Riley Herbst who will start 37th.
Bayley Currey – $5,600 – Starting 25th
The strategy isn’t changing for me when it comes to Bayley Currey. Currey is in good equipment and is still being underpriced. Currey has an average finish of 25.6 which isn’t great, but it establishes a pretty solid floor for us. Currey has 26 or more fantasy points in three of his last five races and even last week the 16 fantasy points aren’t horrible with a 24th finish. Just so happens he started a little far forward in 22nd. We get him at 25th on Saturday and last year in this race he finished 18th after starting 36th. Currey’s most consistent results come at intermediate-sized tracks and until this play is priced up he is going to be our safest low-tier option.
