Featuring in-depth analysis of Southern Hills! Daily fantasy golf analysis for this week’s DFS PGA course to help you figure out what stats to look for and the best way to approach this week’s course!
This week – the players head to Southern Hills for the 2022 PGA Championship in what should be an outstanding week of action. The course has played host to seven majors over the years, split across the US Open and PGA Championship, and historically – it has been a course where the field is really put to the test with the cream of the crop rising to the top. Another interesting factor is the fact that the leader after 36 holes has usually ended up holding through the weekend, so it seems to be a course that allows players to play solid all the way through the weekend if you get off to a good start.
As for the course itself – it’s quite the test, checking in at over 7500 yards as a Par 70’s – so ball striking will be paramount here. With only two Par 5’s, both checking in at over 630 yards – players will really be put to the test on the 12 Par 4’s, that is where the difference will likely lie for the field this week as they navigate Southern Hills this week.
As is the case with any course that has length, I’ll be looking for ball strikers here, probably in this order:
- SG (APP)
- SG (OTT)
- SG (TTG)
As is the case for most majors, I think you’ll also want to factor in golfers that have a strong showing in majors, or at the very least, very high quality field events. Pricing is soft this week – so it won’t be too hard to build quality line-ups with six quality players. I don’t think you have to get too cute here thanks to the fact that there are plenty of solid golfers in the $7k-$7.5k salary range, so I don’t think you need to go too far down the salary scale, especially since majors are usually dominated by players who have the best skillsets.
I’m really looking forward to seeing how this week goes, and I’ll be releasing the Cheat Sheet later on Tuesday, with the Primer coming out on Wednesday for robust coverage of the 2022 PGA Championship!
