MLB DFS: Breaking down the top daily fantasy baseball pitchers on FanDuel & DraftKings for May 14, 2022.
Today’s best MLB DFS pitching picks to help you win your contests on FanDuel & DraftKings.
Nine games on tonight’s Main Slates.
MLB Weather Outlook
There are rain chances on the East Coast throughout the day. For the Main Slate of games that means we need to watch the HOU/WAS and SEA/NYM games as they both have weather risk. While I am not a weather man it does look like both games should play as long as the forecast stays the same as it currently is but as always make sure you double-check the weather for not just those games but for all games before locking in any players.

Top Overall Play
Zac Gallen – Gallen has officially made me a believer in him as he has been pitching out of this world this season. In his five starts, Gallen has allowed a total of three runs. That breaks down to an ERA of 0.95. Gallen also has a WHIP of just 0.71. Both of those marks are top three in the majors amoung pitchers that have pitched at least 20 innings this season. Gallen has also been striking out hitters at a nice clip with at least five strikeouts in each of his past four starts. The Cubs shouldn’t be the team that makes Gallen look like the pitcher I thought he was to start to the season as they have struggled all season long against right-handed pitching. This season they rank 19th or worst in team OPS, team ISO, team wOBA, and team wRC+ against right-handed pitching while having a very high team K rate of 25.3%.
Top Value Play
Michael Lorenzen – Lorenzen is coming off an awful start against the Nationals his last time out but I am not really that worried about that start as Lorenzen has been solid this season. Lorenzen has three quality starts in his five starts and has double-digit fantasy points in all but one start with two starts over 19 fantasy points. What really stands out for me on Lorenzen and why he makes this article as the top value pitcher on this slate is the match-up against Oakland. Oakland is the best match-up for right-handed pitching in my eyes. This season the A’s rank in the bottom three in team ISO, team OPS, team wOBA, team wRC+, and runs scored per game while having the second-highest team K rate at 25.8%. This game is also the second game of a double-header which I also feel gives Lorenzen a boost as he will likely see a weaker lineup as hard as that is to believe than the normal Oakland lineup and the hitters should be tired
Other Pitchers to Consider
Chris Bassitt – Bassitt has had one bad start this season but has been excellent in his other five starts. In those five starts, he has allowed a total of five runs while pitching at least 5.2 innings and producing at least 19 fantasy points. For the season, Bassitt has an ERA of 2.45, a WHIP of 0.95, and a K rate of 26.2%. Bassitt should cruise once again tonight against the struggling Mariners and there is a strong case that he should be your top overall pitcher on this slate over Zac Gallen.
Kyle Hendricks – Hendricks has been a roller coaster this season. You truly have not known what kind of start you are going to get from the Cubs pitcher. With that said I think we get a better start from Hendricks tonight due to the match-up against Arizona. The Diamondbacks rank in the bottom ten in team OPS, team wOBA, and team wRC+ against right-handed pitching this season while having the third-highest team K rate at 25.7%.
