DraftKings CoD Esports DFS Rundown (CDL) – May 13, 2022
London Royal Ravens (LDN) vs. Los Angeles Thieves (LAT) (3:00 PM EST) (-168 LAT)
To kick off the slate a once top team in the game in LDN will continue trying to find their strides as they face a LAT team that seems to have made the right steps towards improvement. Many teams have made changes to kick off the second half of the season and LDN did so by replacing Gismo with Harry, and LAT made a role switch of Kenny from the main assault rifle role to the submachine gun role. However, changes benefited LAT more and may continue that way in this matchup especially since LAT just defeated LON 3-1 in their previous matchup. Octane ended up turning things around in the main assault rifle role in the previous series as the most efficient player for LAT (1.09 K/D). Unfortunately, for LDN Octane remained the most consistent during the Pro-AM Classic which may lead to him causing them problems as Harry continues to adjust with his new team (LDN). This would put pressure on Zer0 to have a strong performance once again for LDN despite them failing to succeed. Although, Zer0 ended up as the most efficient player of the series and event for his team it may not be enough if he’s the only one to contribute positively.
Los Angeles Guerillas (LAG) vs. OpTic Texas (OTX) (4:30 PM EST) (-249 TX)
LAG will look to redeem themselves to start off these qualifiers due to winning the last Major to losing every match in the recent Pro AM Classic. OTX also played the majority of the last event with their substitute General which did not work as they planned and now made another change of adding Prolute to the roster who is more of a flex player to fill in for the injured iLLeY. Prolute has shown success with his challenger teams and won the Challengers Championship last season. Also, playing with Shotzzy from time to time may make it slightly easier for Prolute to gel with the team so there should be no surprise if the chemistry is picked up quick. Also, OTX swept LAG 3-0 the last time these teams faced off so there may be some edge here for OTX. Shotzzy dominated in the previous series especially in the search and destroy gametype with a 4.33 K/D which would be difficult to repeat but if he plays anywhere close to that caliber OTX should be in a good spot. OTX also performed their best on S&D gametype this past event so this bodes well for them to continue doing so with Shotzzy being the player for OTX to get in the most engagements and second in kill efficiency (1.24 K/D) behind his teammate Dashy (1.53) who can complement Shotzzy and the other OTX players well in the anchor/main assault rifle role. That being said LAG did not play against OTX during their Major 2 run so this may be a big test for them to see if they can solidify themselves as one of the top teams in the game.
Atlanta FaZe (ATL) vs. New York Subliners (NYS) (6:00 PM EST) (-225 ATL)
The championship NYS squad from the Pro-AM Classic will get a tough matchup against the goliath of a team in ATL to close out the slate. NYS went the whole event without dropping a map which speaks volumes after starting off the season as one of the worst performing teams in the game. The fact that NYS showed they were the best at hardpoints (8-1) up top this point after recently adding KiSMET to the team will only bode well for them going forward as they get more time to build the chemistry. Last time these teams met ATL swept NYS 3-0 though so this will be a chance for NYS to prove if they deserve to be at the top consistently. Cellium was ATL’s most reliable slayer in that previous series in the flex/main assault rifle role with a 1.30 K/D. Fortunately, for ATL Cellium continued to improve since then and still remains one of if not the most difficult players to kill in-game. Cellium is coming off a 1.35 K/D performance despite ATL losing in the quarter-finals during the Pro-AM Classic. This will put more pressure on the assault rifle mains of NYS in Crimsix/PaulEhx who have not performed to that caliber slaying wise, but PaulEhx is the closest in the search & destroy type specifically (1.43 K/D), where he may have a chance to slow down Cellium. All in all, this match has potential to go back and forth and if NYS starts off the series strong, they may have a chance with ATL coming off an event struggling in one of their best gametypes (search & destroy).
