The NBA Rundown – FanDuel & DraftKings NBA DFS Picks – January 21, 2022 (1/21/22)
Please note that players on DraftKings and FanDuel have multi-position eligibility and may not always match their position between each other. In this article, we will be breaking down some of our favorite plays on the slate at their positions. Remember to keep your eye on the news as the day progresses, as NBA news frequently changes the slate.
Point Guard
Ja Morant ($9,300 DK, $9,100 FD)
PLAYER | TEAM | GP | W | L | MIN | PTS | TOUCHES | REB CHANCES | POTENTIAL AST |
Ja Morant | MEM | 33 | 19 | 14 | 32.7 | 24.8 | 77.6 | 9.7 | 13.2 |
After a string of disappointing games, Ja broke out of his slump in his last game against Milwaukee, scoring 67 fantasy points in 39 minutes. Tonight’s matchup against the Nuggets in altitude isn’t ideal; however, the Grizz are short-handed with multiple players on COVID protocols, so that Morant will be shouldering the offensive load tonight. I like his chances at a slate-breaking performance in this one.
Shooting Guard
Jordan Clarkson ($5,800 DK, $5,600 FD)
PLAYER | TEAM | GP | W | L | MIN | PTS | TOUCHES | REB CHANCES | POTENTIAL AST |
Jordan Clarkson | UTA | 44 | 29 | 15 | 26 | 15.2 | 37.9 | 6.1 | 4.2 |
The Jazz host one of the worst teams in the league tonight at home, the Detriot Pistons. The Jazz will have to play without Donovan Mitchell due to a concussion; in minutes this season with Donovan off the floor, Clarkson averages 1.06 fantasy points per minute. Detriot currently ranks 24th in Defensive Rating, 11th in Pace, and 30th in fantasy points allowed to the SG position.
Small Forward
Gordon Hayward ($6,200 DK, $6,200 FD)
PLAYER | TEAM | GP | W | L | MIN | PTS | TOUCHES | REB CHANCES | POTENTIAL AST |
Gordon Hayward | CHA | 43 | 25 | 18 | 33.1 | 16.8 | 56.9 | 9 | 7 |
The Hornets have been a fun team to watch this season; they rank 4th in Offensive Rating, 26th in Defensive Rating, and 2nd in Pace. This combination leads to many close and high-scoring games, which is great for fantasy purposes. Hayward has had some disappointing games lately, but his ceiling keeps him in play at his current salary.
Power Forward
Giannis Antetokounmpo ($11,700 DK, $11,300 FD)
PLAYER | TEAM | GP | W | L | MIN | PTS | TOUCHES | REB CHANCES | POTENTIAL AST |
Giannis Antetokounmpo | MIL | 38 | 24 | 14 | 32.6 | 28.6 | 71.9 | 17.6 | 11.5 |
Things seem to be trending in Milwaukee’s favor; lately, they are getting healthy when other contenders like BKN and CHI are losing key rotation players to injuries. Tonight they host the Bulls in a potential playoff preview. Giannis has been spectacular lately, per usual. He’s the most expensive option at the power forward position, but I like his chances to put up a ceiling game tonight. The Bulls rank 28th in fantasy points allowed to the power forward position.
Center
Rudy Gobert ($8,900 DK, $8,900 FD)
PLAYER | TEAM | GP | W | L | MIN | PTS | TOUCHES | REB CHANCES | POTENTIAL AST |
Rudy Gobert | UTA | 40 | 28 | 12 | 32.4 | 15.9 | 34.5 | 25.2 | 1.8 |
We’ve already touched on this matchup between the Jazz and Pistons tonight, but we have yet to mention the great spot Gobert is in. The Pistons rank 28th in fantasy points allowed to the center position. On the season, he’s averaging 1.25 fantasy points per minute. I expect Gobert to have a monster game on the glass tonight.
