Week 18 NFL DFS Wide Receivers (WR) Targets For DraftKings & FanDuel

Welcome to the FC Insights Wide Receiver Targets Article. In this post, we will be breaking down our top options and plays at the WR position for each DFS week of the 2021-2022 NFL DFS season.

Top Plays

K.J. Osborn (DK- $5,500, FD- $6,400)

Opponent Team Total Opponent Passes Defended at LB/CB Per Game Opponent Fantasy Points Allowed Per Game To WRs
CHI 24 15 33.53

Now that Adam Thielen is out for the season due to surgery the opportunity to perform well is here for K.J. Osborn. As the RWR for MIN, Osborn will get the chance to take advantage of the edge MIN has against the right cornerback in Artie Burns who has the one of the lowest pass deflections out of all cornerbacks on the slate (6). CHI will also most likely have their defense focus mainly on Justin Jefferson now that Thielen is out which should allow Osborn to slip under the radar a bit more. However, the price is friendlier on DraftKings compared to Fanduel.

Darnell Mooney (DK- $5,900, FD- $6,300)

Opponent Team Total Opponent Passes Defended at CB Per Game Opponent Fantasy Points Allowed Per Game To WRs
@ MIN 21 25 42.61

To counter MIN, CHI may more than likely lean on Darnell Mooney against MIN who is surrendering the most fantasy points to the WR position. Mooney leads the way in targets (124) at his position for CHI so he should get the majority of looks in the passing offense, especially coming off a double-digit target game (13). In the previous meeting against MIN Mooney also had close to double-digit targets as well but was unable to score. However, with MIN gradually surrendering more scoring now this would be a nice spot to rebound for Mooney.

Davante Adams (DK- $9,400, FD- $8,800)

Opponent Team Total Opponent Passes Defended at CB Per Game Opponent Fantasy Points Allowed Per Game To WRs
@ DET 23 24 34.44

The second most expensive WR on the slate but worth the price is Davante Adams is in a plus matchup against a cornerback in AJ Parker who also has pass deflections on the lower end. Davante is arguably one of the best WRs in the league and third in red zone targets. This should result in Adams scoring at least one if not multiple touchdowns. Despite the price being high for Adams on both sites the volume is there every game for him (double-digit targets since GB’s bye) and the floor is high. That being said for those that want the closest to safe option Davante Adams is difficult to overlook.

Brandin Cooks (DK- $6,300, FD- $7,100)

Opponent Team Total Opponent Passes Defended at CB Per Game Opponent Fantasy Points Allowed Per Game To WRs
TEN 17 27 39.85

Although HOU has one of the lower Vegas implied totals on the slate, Brandin Cooks has another chance to score at least once with TEN making their way back up to the top and surrendering the second most fantasy points to the WR position. Cooks has also scored at least one touchdown in his past two games and that trend may begin to continue. However, the price is starting to catch up to Cooks on both sites and with the low implied total Cooks is now riskier of a choice.

Christian Kirk (DK- $6,000, FD- $6,200)

Opponent Team Total Opponent Passes Defended at CB Per Game Opponent Fantasy Points Allowed Per Game To WRs
SEA 27 25 34.21

Since DeAndre Hopkins was out for the season, Christian Kirk has emerged as the number one WR for ARI. At 100 total targets on the season no one is close to that range except A.J. Green at 83. With the opposing safety in Quandre Diggs having pass deflections on the lower end (7) the deeper part of the field should have openings for Christian Kirk. Kirk also has the higher target separation (1.80) out of the top two WRs for ARI. Therefore, Kirk may have a better chance at accumulating more points than A.J. Green. Despite being unable to score in the previous meeting with SEA, Kirk had less targets and should get more opportunity now as one of the more focal points of the ARI pass offense.

DK Metcalf (DK- 6,900, FD- $7,200)

Opponent Team Total Opponent Passes Defended at CB Per Game Opponent Fantasy Points Allowed Per Game To WRs
@ ARI 27 19 37.97

To counter ARI’s offense SEA has a chance to take advantage of the fact ARI is surrendering the fifth most fantasy points to the WR position. This bodes well for DK Metcalf who has become the most targeted WR on the SEA squad (118). Since SEA lost the last matchup, they may end up wanting to get revenge here to end the season strong especially in what could be their quarterback Russell Wilson’s last season. Metcalf also has the higher red zone target rate (11th) compared to his duo and teammate Tyler Lockett (75th) so if there was one of the two that would be likely to score it would be Metcalf.

Kenny Golladay (DK- $5,100, FD- $5,300)

Opponent Team Total Opponent Passes Defended at CB Per Game Opponent Fantasy Points Allowed Per Game To WRs
WAS 16 23 38.62

If there was a best time for NYG to dominate their opposing defense through the passing offense this game may be one of them. WAS is surrendering the third most fantasy points to the WR position. This should give Kenny Golladay a chance to perform well after coming off a one target game. The only risk is that the NYG offense has been awful. Fortunately, Golladay still remains the highest targeted WR for the NYG squad on the season at 71 with the next highest from his teammate is 57. Therefore, if NYG is somehow able to take advantage of this edge they have Golladay has a chance to be a contributor to that.

Value Play(s) for DK/FD

DK/FD Marquez Callaway ($5,000, $5,900)

Opponent Team Total Opponent Passes Defended at CB Per Game Opponent Fantasy Points Allowed Per Game To WRs
@ ATL 23 34 37.93

After coming off a double-digit targeted game (10), Callaway has potential to slip under the radar again and is mid-priced on both sites. Callaway still leads the NO WRs with the most targets (83) compared to the next highest at his position which is 55. In addition, ATL is surrendering the sixth most fantasy points to the WR position which gives Callaway to perform well again and possibly score again like he did in the last meeting against ATL. The targets since that last meeting have been streaky for Callaway but with NO losing the last matchup they had despite the Callaway score he may be even more motivated to perform better.
