Week 18 NFL DFS Defensive (DST) Targets For FanDuel & DraftKings

Welcome to the FC Insights Defensive Targets Article. In this post, we will be breaking down our top options and plays at the DST position for each DFS week of the 2021-2022 NFL DFS season.

Jaguars 14.50 14.2 31 29

I feel bad for Trevor Lawrence as he is being labeled a bust already and I don’t think it is fair to label him a bust with the situation he was put in. Lawrence is still going to be great in this league mark my words. With that being said Lawrence’s situation is not changing this week and the Colts defense is one to target this week as not only is the Jags offense really bad but the Colts defense is really good especially as of late. The Colts have only allowed more than 24 points once in their seven games and have produced double-digit fantasy points in four of those games. One of those four games where they produced double-digit fantasy points also came against the Jaguars.

Washington Football Team ($5,000 FD, $3,100 DK)

Opponent Opponent Team Total Opponent Points Per Game Opponent Total Sacks Allowed  Opponent Total Turnovers
Giants 15.50 15.7 35 27

The Washington Football Team’s defense has been shell-shocked the last two weeks but they should bounce back this week as they get to take on the Giants. The Giants’ offense has been a disaster all season long but especially with Daniel Jones out. Since Jones went out the Giants are averaging just 9.8 points per game. They have allowed 12 sacks with nine giveaways in those games. Each of the opposing defenses that has faced the Giants during this period has scored at least six fantasy points with the last three scoring at least 16 fantasy points. As bad as those numbers are they should actually be worst this week as the Giants are going to have no choice but to play Jake Fromm the whole game as Mike Glennon is also out due to an injury.

Value Play

Lions ($3,200 FD, $2,400 DK)

Opponent Opponent Team Total Opponent Points Per Game Opponent Total Sacks Allowed  Opponent Total Turnovers
Packers 22.25 26.3 29 10

I was on the Lions’ defense last week and they were absolutely destroyed by the Seahawks’ offense in all aspects. While that performance is in the back of my mind I am willing to go back to the Lions as a cheap defense this week as despite what the Packers’ coaches say it is widely expected that their starters rest this week or play limited snaps with the number one seed wrapped up. That means the Lions’ should see plenty of Jordan Love who has yet to show he is ready to take over as a starting quarterback and did not look good in his first career start earlier in the season. In that game against the Cheifs who I will readily admit is a great defensive unit the Packers only scored seven points and allowed the Chiefs’ defense to produce 11 fantasy points.

Bears ($3,900 FD, $2,700 DK)

Opponent Opponent Team Total Opponent Points Per Game Opponent Total Sacks Allowed  Opponent Total Turnovers
Vikings 23.25 24.6 27 13

The Bears defense had a monster game last week against the Giants. In that game, the Bears allowed just three points, racked up four sacks, had four takeaways and had a safety on their way to 21 fantasy points. After that game, the Bears defense has now racked up double-digit sacks in four straight games and has produced at least five fantasy points in three of their past four games. While I am not expecting the Bears to have 21 fantasy points again this week I do expect them to continue their solid play against the Vikings. The Vikings are in the midst of another lost season and it sounds like Kirk Cousins is going to be out this week once again as he is unvaccinated and dealing with Covid. Last week with Cousins out the Vikings only scored ten points, allowed two sacks, and six fantasy points. Even if Cousins plays the Vikings offense has not really been putting up numbers as they have allowed double-digit sacks with at least six fantasy points in three straight games. One of those three games also was against the Bears.
