The NBA Rundown – FanDuel & DraftKings NBA DFS Picks – December 1, 2021 (12/1/21)

Please note that players on DraftKings and FanDuel have multi-position eligibility and may not always match their position between each other. In this article, we will be breaking down some of our favorite plays on the slate at their positions. Remember to always keep your eye on the news as the day progresses, as NBA news changes the slate frequently.

Point Guard

Malcolm Brogdon ($7,700 DK, $7,200 FD)

109.25 24.9% 1.09 23rd 49.43

I predicted a bounce-back game from Brogdon on Monday and he came through for me big time with a 25/6/5 line with three steals on his way to 46.7 fantasy points. Tonight I like Brogdon to repeat that performance as he takes on an awful Hawks defense especially against point guards. The Hawks have allowed the sixth-most fantasy points per game to point guards this season. Brogdon has taken advantage of the Hawks’ weak defense in the past and in his past three games against them he has at least 40 fantasy points and is averaging 42.8 fantasy points per game in those contests.

Shooting Guard

Terence Davis ($3,700 DK, $3,800 FD)

I was expecting Davis to play more minutes especially with Harrison Barnes out but that has not been the case. Even with Barnes out the past three games Davis has only played over 25 minutes in one game and has played 17 or fewer minutes in each of his past two games. While the lack of minutes does limit Davis’ upside at his salary he is one of my favorite players on this slate as he is still having huge games even with the lack of minutes. In his past three games, Davis is averaging 11.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, an assist, a steal, and 1.3 blocks in those games. Davis has at least 19 fantasy points in each of those games and is averaging 1.21 fantasy points per minute in this time frame.

Small Forward

Kevin Porter Jr. ($7,400 DK, $6,800 FD)

105.5 24.4% 0.91 13th 45.67

Is Porter Jr. actually a small forward? No, he is the Rockets’ point guard but I am going to take advantage of FanDuel listing him as a small forward tonight. Even on sites where Porter is just a point guard I am still going to have a lot of exposure to him as he has looked like the Porter Jr. we saw towards the end of last season since coming back from injury. In those three games, Porter Jr. is averaging 16 points, 7.7 rebounds, 10.7 assists, and 1.7 steals. Porter Jr. has at least 31 fantasy points in each of those games and has back-to-back games with at least 44 fantasy points. The Thunder are also not a team that scares me when it comes to match-up as while they have solid numbers this season on the defensive end of the court I expect those numbers to dip as the season goes along with this young team.

Power Forward

Lauri Markkanen ($6,000 DK, $6,300 FD)

Markkanen is someone that I am going to continue to roster until he gives me a reason not to or until his salary starts to rise as his current salary is just too cheap for the way he is playing since his return to the Cavs lineup. In those four games, Markkanen is averaging 20 points, eight rebounds, and 32.23 fantasy points per game. The only negative thing I really have to say about Markkanen tonight is his match-up is not the best in the world against the Heat but depending on the Heat’s injuries as they are dealing with a ton of them as I talked about earlier this could be a totally different Heat team we are looking at.

P.J. Washington ($5,100 DK, $4,900 FD)

110.50 19.2% 0.97 11th 45.42

I hate to roster players against the Bucks as they are an elite defensive team. With that being said I really love Washington tonight with Mason Plumlee out for a fourth straight game. In the previous three games with Plumlee out, Washington is averaging 15 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists, a steal, a block, and 28.1 fantasy points in 30.3 minutes of action. Besides the boost that Washington has seen with Plumlee out the one position that the Bucks have struggled a bit defensively against is power forwards as they are just middle of the pack in terms of fantasy points allowed per game to the position this season.

Center

Daniel Gafford ($4,800 DK, $5,800 FD)

Team Total Usage Rate Fantasy Points Per Minute Opponent Defensive Net Rating Rank Fantasy Points Allowed Per Game to Position
109.25 16.8% 1.15 6th 54.75

I have been riding Gafford for the past couple of games as he is playing really well right now. In his past three games, Gafford is averaging 10.7 points, 9.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and four steals+blocks. Gafford has at least 29 fantasy points in each of those games and is averaging 1.46 fantasy points per minute which is a mark only two regular players in the NBA average this season (Giannis Antetokounmpo and Nikola Jokic). While there is a chance that Gafford falls off soon I don’t think we see the drop in production happen tonight as the Wolves are a great match-up for centers. The Wolves rank 24th in team rebounding rate this season and have allowed the eighth-most fantasy points per game to centers this season.
