The NBA Rundown – FanDuel & DraftKings NBA DFS Picks – November 15, 2021 (11/15/21)

Please note that players on DraftKings and FanDuel have multi-position eligibility and may not always match their position between each other. In this article, we will be breaking down some of our favorite plays on the slate at their positions. Remember to always keep your eye on the news as the day progresses, as NBA news changes the slate frequently.

Point Guard

Anfernee Simons ($3,500 DK, $4,000 FD)

There is a chance that Damian Lillard returns tonight after missing yesterday’s game but I don’t think that happens with them not playing again until Wednesday and Saturday after that. If Lillard does miss his second straight game as I expect then Simons would be an elite value play as he started for Lillard last time. In that game against the Nuggets, Simons played 28 minutes and had a great all-around game with 16 points, five rebounds, and four assists on his way to 30.0 fantasy points. Last season in the five games that Lillard missed we also saw solid production from Simons as he averaged 12.6 points, 2.2 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.2 steals, and 22.44 fantasy points in 24.6 minutes per game.

Shooting Guard

Malik Monk ($4,100 DK, $4,400 FD)

The Bulls are a great defense and not a team that I typically like to target players against. With that said I do like Monk as a nice value play as LeBron James is still out. In the previous eight games with James out, Monk is averaging 12.6 points, 2.4 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.2 steals+blocks. Monk has at least 17 fantasy points in six of those games and has produced at least 23 fantasy points in two of the Lakers’ last three games with James out of the lineup.

Aaron Holiday ($3,500 DK, $4,400 FD)

Bradley Beal is going to miss his second straight game due to a personal matter and that makes Holiday another elite value play at the guard position. In the Wizards game on Saturday with Beal out, Holiday got the start and played 35 minutes. In those 35 minutes, Holiday had 11 points, two rebounds, four assists, two steals, and a block on his way to 26.4 fantasy points. Tonight I am expecting we see similar minutes from Holiday and I don’t see why we wouldn’t see similar production against a Pelicans team that has the second-worst defensive net rating and has allowed the fourth-most fantasy points per game to shooting guards this season.

Small Forward

Jayson Tatum ($9,800 DK, $9,500 FD)

I know that Tatum put up a dud against the same Cavs team that he faces tonight in Boston’s last game but I personally cannot quite Tatum with Jaylen Brown still out. Tatum just gets such a huge boost with Brown off the court. Since the start of last season with Brown off the court along with Kemba Walker who of course is now with the Knicks but was also a heavy usage player, Tatum has seen a 4.9% increase in usage to 35.9% and is averaging 1.27 fantasy points per minute. If we look at just the games Brown missed and Tatum has played since last season we will see that Tatum averaged 48.25 fantasy points per game in the 13 games that Brown missed last season and is averaging 48.6 fantasy points if you take away his dud last game in the games Brown has missed this season.

Power Forward

Jerami Grant ($7,200 DK, $7,800 FD)

Grant had a breakout season last year for the Pistons but has been a bit inconsistent this season. Grant has had six games with at least 38 fantasy points this season and five games with 30 or fewer fantasy points. While I hate rostering players that are that inconsistent as you really don’t know what you are going to get I am going to take a chance on Grant tonight as I love his salary and the match-up against the Kings. The Kings rank in the bottom ten in defensive net rating and were a team that Grant played well against last season. In his one meeting against them last year Grant went for 30 points and seven rebounds on his way to 37.9 fantasy points.

Kristaps Porzingis ($7,000 DK, $7,400 FD)

106.75 28.8% 1.18 2nd 38.60

It took a while but we are starting to see Porzingis put up some big numbers. Porzingis has scored at least 20 points in three of the Mavs’ past four games. In those three games, Porzingis is averaging 25 points and 8.67 rebounds. Porzingis has at least 36 fantasy points in each of those games. Tonight even with a bad match-up against a very good Nuggets defense I am expecting Porzingis to keep up his strong play.

Center

Nikola Jokic ($11,700 DK, $11,500 FD)

Jokic is going to cost you a lot to roster tonight as he is the most expensive player on each site. With that said I have no issues eating the cost to roster Jokic tonight for several reasons. The first reason is there is enough value on this slate spending up for Jokic as well as another stud or even two should not be an issue tonight. The second reason is based on the way Jokic has played this season and due to the fact, the Nuggets are likely going to be without both Michael Porter Jr. and Will Barton for the second straight game. This season with both Barton and Porter off the court, Jokic has seen an increase of usage of 5.4% to 36.6% and is averaging 1.92 fantasy points per minute. The last reason is due to the match-up against the Mavs. The Mavs have struggled against centers all season long allowing the fifth-most fantasy points per game to the position this season.

JaVale McGee ($4,200 DK, $4,400 FD)

112.50 24.5% 1.25 14th 56.94

If you decide that Nikola Jokic is just too expensive or are just looking for a cheap center on this slate McGee would be the man I look at with Deandre Ayton likely still out. McGee has started each of the six games that Ayton has missed and in those games, he is averaging 12 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks. McGee has at least 18 fantasy points in five of those six games and is averaging 26.17 fantasy points per game in those games. The match-up against the Wolves is also one that I like for McGee for two reasons. The first reason is with the Wolves having a true center in Karl-Anthony Towns the Suns are likely going to have to play McGee minutes in the mid-20s. In the two previous games that McGee played at least 25 minutes with Ayton out, he produced at least 28 fantasy points. The second reason is due to the sheer fact the Wolves give up a lot of fantasy points to centers. The Wolves have allowed the seventh-most fantasy points per game to the position this season.
