MLB DFS: Daily Home Run Picks for FanDuel & DraftKings on October 3, 2021.
Every day this season, our team shares who we believe has the best chance to leave the yard. From one-off plays to core parts of daily stacks, we hope this fun article will help you build winning lineups along the way.
James: Aaron Judge – “We’ve made it 162 games into the season and as we reach the finale here, I lay my pick on the line with no real science behind it. The Yankees need to win and carry a positive matchup against a bad Michael Wacha. Let’s see if I can ride out a gut call on our last day.”
Zach: Teoscar Hernandez – “With a 196 wRC+ against LHP this year, Hernandez is easily the Jays’ best hitter in the split. His .357 ISO, 1.124 OPS and .722 SLG in 137 PA are tremendous. Even though he hasn’t hit the cover off the ball lately, he is in a great spot against Bruce Zimmermann who has allowed 13 HR and a 1.84 HR/9 in his 12 starts this season (6.11 xERA). The Jays should be able to put up numbers against him, and Hernandez should certainly lead the charge.”
Jared: Byron Buxton – “It’s been another year of ups and downs for the talented young outfielder, but I do think that he’s going to end his 2021 on a high note today. Jackson Kowar has a 5.82 SIERA, 92.7 mph exit velocity and 2.05 HR/9 in his 7 starts this year for the Royals, and remains one of the more hittable pitchers in the game right now. Meanwhile, Buxton has 3 HR and a 281 wRC+ in his last week of action (26 PA) with a very nice 26.7% barrel rate and 95.2 mph EV. He hits RHP and LHP almost identically well (167 wRC+ vs RHP compared to 169 wRC+ vs LHP) and OPS marks at .996 and .997 respectively. However, a .349 ISO vs RHP is 50 points higher than LHP for him. So, this is very much the power split we want to take advantage of.”
