MLB DFS: Daily Home Run Picks for FanDuel & DraftKings on October 1, 2021.
Every day this season, our team shares who we believe has the best chance to leave the yard. From one-off plays to core parts of daily stacks, we hope this fun article will help you build winning lineups along the way.
James: Freddie Freeman – “Tylor Megill’s season started off strong, but he has really labored down the backstretch of August and September. Megill posted a 6.44 ERA in August and a 7.20 ERA so far in September. Lefties are doing major damage to Megill with a .325 batting average and a .637 slugging, compared to just .209/.349 from righties.”
Update: No Freeman tonight – shifting to Albies.
Zach: Kyle Tucker – “This one is a bit unconventional, but HRs can be finicky and you need to take some chances. Sometimes BvP numbers are too good to ignore, and that’s more or less the case with Tucker here today. In 18 AB against Sean Manaea, Tucker has 4 HR, 5 xBH and a 1.424 OPS (.571 wOBA) in the matchup. Those are the kinds of numbers that really make you think ‘whoa, this guy just sees the ball really well out of the pitcher’s hand’. Even though he’s been a little cold lately, I still want to invest in the historical data here. It also helps that Manaea’s rocking the fourth highest EV at 91.8 mph on the slate over the last month, too.”
Jared: Vladimir Guerrero Jr – “He hasn’t been himself lately, but after watching him absolutely destroy a Corey Kluber pitch yesterday, I’m hopping back on board. The Jays need to win 3 straight to have a prayer at a wild card berth, and there’s noone more talented on their roster to help them get there. We’re not sure who is going to take the mound for the Orioles in Toronto just yet, but I’m not sure it really matters. Based on whose thrown lately, it’ll probably be a RHP and that’s good news for Vladdy and co. As a reminder, he has 36 HR and is sporting a 170 wRC+ vs RHP this year with a 1.020 OPS and .301 ISO. Get him active tonight and enjoy the ride.”
