DraftKings & FanDuel NASCAR DFS – Bass Pro Shops Night Race – September 18, 2021

Core Plays

Kyle Larson – DK: $11,300 | FD: $14,000  – Starting 5th

No matter where we are, Kyle Larson feels like a pretty safe bet. Larson has been the king of intermediate track sizes this year, so how will he do at the half-mile at Bristol? Well, in 2018, Larson posted two-second place finishes at this track and his most recent running in 2019 he finished sixth. I think it goes without saying though that Larson’s equipment right now is the best he has ever run in and he has also been in the best form of his entire career. The layout of Bristol should also benefit Larson as it is a pretty high banking track and is fully concrete paved. The last all concrete medium to high banked track he raced at was Nashville, a race he led 264 of the 300 laps with 133 of the fastest laps. The other track comparable to Bristol is Dover – in that race, Larson led 327 of the 400 laps. Both of these races netted Larson over 157 fantasy points.

Erik Jones – DK: $6,400 | FD: $5,500 – Starting 22nd

“Erik Jones is a very talented race car driver. Erik Jones does not have very competitive race car equipment right now”. That is the sentence that kicked off this write-up last week and I feel it still holds true so I am keeping it there. Jones did his job for us last week, starting 31st and finishing 21st. While Eric Jones was not in the optimal lineup last week, he was in the optimal for second place. We don’t get the benefit of a great starting position this week, but 22nd still isn’t one to be too concerned about. Over Jones’ last two races at Bristol he has a fifth and a third-place finish. In Jones’ third-place finish last season he got there from starting in the 20th spot. Besides those two recent top-5 finishes, Jones has a fifth place in 2018 and a second back in 2017. In eight career races, he has an average finish of 12.7.
