DraftKings Xfinity NASCAR DFS – VFW Help A Hero 200 – September 4, 2021
Denny Hamlin – DK: $10,400 – Starting 14th
Without having to say more than enough, Hamlin is starting 14th in an Xfinity race at a track he has a ton of success in and is in equipment that is usually priced well above this price point. Hamlin has finished in the top-five in three of his last four races at Darlington, with a win in 2020 – a reminder, these are all at the Cup level, so competing at the Xfinity level for this one is a huge boost. Hamlin is driving the 54 this weekend which we have seen Kyle Busch dominate some races at this level in. Ultimately, this is just a too low of a price here and while there are some guys around Hamlin that have more differential upside, Hamlin has a career of leading laps here, including leading at least 10 in six of his last ten runs here. We can expect plenty of fast lap points here and if he can grab laps led too we are looking at a nice amount of dominator points. Hamlin is a 1.2-1 favorite to win this race.
Ryan Ellis – DK: $5,800 – Starting 36th
The top options on this slate really are the ones we should be targeting with some great odds to win with Hamlin and guys like Cindric, Dillon, and Reddick starting in spots that can grab us a ton of differential while also carrying decent odds to win the race. So we are going to need to punt at least one driver here and for me that is Ellis. Ellis only has four races on the year, but has an average start of 30th and an average finish of 24.5. Over his four races, Ellis has averaged 23.3 fantasy points and with a 36th starting position here, just grabbing a handful of spots in the order will make this price worth it as long as the top of salary options do their jobs. The last time Ellis ran Darlington he netted a 16th place finish. With McLeod in a Gosselin car, Ellis will have good equipment this weekend.
