DraftKings CoD Core Plays and Cheat Sheet (CDL) – June 18, 2021

PAR Legion v.s. SEA Surge (3:00 PM EST) (-130 PAR)

SEA made their return on LAN with impact and may be a lot better than they were online against teams. However, they get a chance to back that up against PAR who they lost to previously this stage (1-3 series count). SEA definitely has to get it together on the search and destroy gametype which happened to be the only gametype they lost to start the Major IV so far and also lost to against PAR previously. PAR was also able to defeat SEA twice in hardpoints so if it goes that route to start the series then search and destroy will definitely end up being the most important gametype in this series for both teams. Skrapz finished off the stage pre-major in dominating fashion with a 2.17 K/D which will be hard to replicate but definitely crucial for PAR’s success in it slaying wise with no one else having a K/D above 1 in the last matchup for PAR. On the other hand, Gunless, and Octane contributed the most in slaying for SEA in the the last matchup with 32.3/38.7% of the kills and can also use a little more help from their teammates. Yesterday the submachine gun players did step it up compared to last time so there’s hope that it can be done it’ll just come down to if SEA can close out the search and destroy game if they have a lead again. Regardless this matchup should be a lot closer this time and SEA may end up riding off their momentum into this one especially after showing improvement on their worst gametype in control which they also defeated PAR on previously but if SEA goes down one map early the pressure will definitely be a lot more on them and can shift this series more towards a 3-0 sweep in favor of PAR.

FLA Mutineers v.s. LA Guerillas (4:30 PM EST) (-138 FLA)

FLA may end up being the dark horse of this Major IV if they keep it all together on the big stage now because they are capable of defeating anyone but it just came down to the consistency. LAG took advantage of their previous opponent having a last-minute change which is great but still may not have the firepower to defeat FLA especially on the hardpoint game type. Although LAG showed promised yesterday on search and destroy which is their best gametype right now they were also unable to defeat FLA on that gametype previously. The assault rifle mains of Owakening/Skyz dominated the last time these teams met on hardpoint with 1.28/1.44 K/D’s and if they’re able to translate that onto LAN it can get ugly quick for LAG. LAG’s assault rifle mains in Assault/Cheen didn’t have their best slaying against their opponent yesterday and Cheen (one of the assault rifle mains for LAG) had a kill-death ratio barely over one which would hinder them a lot if they bring that performance against FLA’s assault rifle mains today. Either way LAG needs to win a hardpoint map to give themselves a little more confidence because they were unable to win any this whole stage and FLA finished off better than them in every other gametype.

TOR Ultra v.s. DAL Empire (6:00 PM EST) (-165 TOR)

The defending champions in DAL proved to be a legitimate threat yesterday after a statement win and now have an arguably tougher opponent against a team that arguably has better pacing than their last opponent in TOR. TOR was able to sweep DAL when they met previously this stage but now it’s a matter of bringing what they brought to that battle to LAN this time where it’s an even playing field. This matchup may come down to which submachine gun players dominate more because with Vivid finally picking things up him and Shotzzy caused havoc yesterday. Bance and CleanX finished off with 1.45/1.41 K/D’s the last time these teams faced off and will definitely need to perform close to that in order to counter the finesse playstyle from Shotzzy and aggressiveness for Vivid. Shotzzy has started the Major IV with a 2.13 K/D which will be difficult to maintain and Vivid improved drastically with a 1.54 K/D after having a kill-death ratio below one to end the stage before Major IV. Although, iLLeY picked it up as well which was key for DAL, TOR may have a lot of work to deal with as far as their opposing submachine gun players. In addition, both assault rifle mains in Cammy/Insight have also been efficient last time for TOR with Cammy being slightly better at slaying with a 1.31 K/D so if he’s able to perform well again the pressure off their submachine gun teammates would definitely be less. All in all, this matchup may end up going down to the wire with DAL finally showing signs of getting back to form which may end up preventing them from being swept this time.

ATL FaZe v.s. MIN ROKKR (7:30 PM EST) (-600 ATL)

ATL now find themselves in a matchup against the last team to give them a run for their money this stage in MIN across map scores although the 1-3 series count says otherwise. ATL have been scary as of late especially after receiving more coaching in the search and destroy gametype which was their biggest flaw. However, MIN showed signs of picking their search and destroy game back up after it being their best gametype previously. In addition, MIN finished off the stage pre-major as a slightly better control team with a 5-1 record compared to ATL’s 4-1 record. Therefore, search and destroy will be crucial in this series and the team that’s able to win it should have a really good chance to turn the series either on its head or around. MIN dominated in search and destroy yesterday with a 2.09 team overall K/D which will be a lot more difficult to replicate especially with Priestahh having an 11 K/D. In the previous faceoff Standy and MajorManiak had the highest percentage of kills on their team (35.3/29.4%) and can end up heading that direction again this time after finishing second/third in that category yesterday. However, aBeZy and Cellium had their way with MIN in the search and destroy gametype last time with 4 and 2.75 K/D’s which can happen again after these two finishing off the stage pre-major as the most efficient players on their team in the gametype. Most may expect ATL to win easily here after finishing the stage pre-major strong but I expect the series to be a lot closer and wouldn’t be surprised if there was an upset.
