The WNBA Rundown – FanDuel & DraftKings WNBA DFS Picks – June 1, 2021 (6/1/21)
In this article, we will be breaking down some of our favorite plays on the slate at their positions. Remember to always keep your eye on the news as the day progresses.
Sue Bird- Bird had a bad game against the Wings but a couple of games ago but outside of that game Bird has been really good as of late for the Storm. Including that game against Dallas, Bird is averaging 14.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, five assists, and 1.5 steals+blocks. Bird has at least 28 fantasy points in all but the Dallas game and is averaging 29.75 fantasy points in these four games. Bird is not just playing well right now but the match-up against the Fever is one I love to attack especially with point guards. This season the Fever have allowed the second-most points per game, most assists per game, and rank in the bottom quarter of the league in fantasy points allowed per game to guards.
Riquna Williams– Williams is a great source of value at the guard position tonight as she is only $7,600 on DraftKings and $5,100 in salary on FanDuel. The reason why I feel that she is a great source of value is based on Williams’s performances in her last three games. In those three games, Williams has played at least 30 minutes and is averaging 14.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 2.3 steals, and 27.8 fantasy points. The only real drawback that I have with Williams tonight is the match-up is a poor one as the Sun are one of the best defensive teams in the WNBA but one thing I have learned since WNBA DFS came out four years ago is while match-ups matter they don’t matter as much as they do in other sports.
Breanna Stewart – The fact that Stewart is not the most expensive player on this slate and is not even the second-most expensive player on DraftKings is funny to me. Yes, Stewart struggled against the Lynx in her two games against them this season but those performances can be forgiven as the Lynx defense against stud forwards looks to be the real deal this season. Instead of focusing on those two off games, I am going to look at the other four games that Stewart has played and in those games, she has been unstoppable. Stewart has a double-double in each of those games, has scored at least 26 points in three of those games, and has at least 43 fantasy points in each of those games. The Fever is also not the Lynx in terms of defense. In fact, they are the exact opposite as they are allowing the most points per game to forwards/centers this season.
Kayla Thornton– Thornton is one of my favorite players on a point-per-dollar basis on this slate due to her consistency and match-up. Thornton has at least 18 fantasy points in each game this season and is averaging 26.2 fantasy points per game this season. As far as match-up goes the Sparks rank in the bottom half of the WNBA in points allowed per game and have allowed the most rebounds per game to start the season.
Amanda Zahui B – Zahui B only played 16 minutes in her first game of the season but looked to be fully back to speed in her second game. In that game, Zahui B played 34 minutes and had a huge stat line with 17 points, eight rebounds, a steal, three blocks, and 31.6 fantasy points. Zahui B really benefited from Chiney Ogwumike missing that game. With Ogwumike looking like she is going to miss tonight’s game as well I don’t see a reason why Zahui B doesn’t have a repeat performance against the Wings.
