The WNBA Rundown – FanDuel & DraftKings WNBA DFS Picks – May 18, 2021 (5/18/21)
In this article, we will be breaking down some of our favorite plays on the slate at their positions. Remember to always keep your eye on the news as the day progresses.
After some smaller slates after opening night, we finally have a three-game slate to work with tonight. I am personally a fan of three and four-game slates as it not only gives you more options to work with but also gives you a little more room for taking chances. WNBA is a sport that you almost have to play the chalk while sprinkling in one or two players that are going to be low-owned.
Jewell Loyd– Loyd looked really good in the Storms’ opener against the Aces who they face again tonight. In that game, Loyd went for 22 points on a 25.6% usage rate with four rebounds and six assists on her way to 38.8 fantasy points. Dating back to last season that is the fourth time in her past five games against the Aces with at least 38 fantasy points.
Kayla McBride– I really like what we saw from McBride in her first game with the Wolves. In that game against the Mercury, McBride started and played 35 minutes. In her 35 minutes, McBride had a 17/6/2 stat line with two blocks on her way to 33.2 fantasy points. While I am not sure if McBride can reach the 33 fantasy point mark again tonight I am willing to bet that she comes close as the scoring should still be there against a Liberty team that has allowed the third-most points per game to guards to start the season and so should the rebounds as the Liberty also don’t rebound the ball well. While the season is still young the Liberty has allowed the fourth-most rebounds per game to opponents this season.
Breanna Stewart – Anytime Stewart is on a slate I am going to have heavy exposure to her. Stewart is just the best woman’s basketball player on the planet and tends to dominate anytime she is on the court. Her game on Saturday against the Aces who once again the Storm face again tonight was no different as Stewart went for 28 points and 13 rebounds on her way to 47.10 fantasy points.
Aerial Powers – Powers is once again a lock for me on DraftKings as they fudged up her salary for the second straight slate. Powers despite playing 30 minutes with an 18/6/3 stat line on her way to 33 fantasy points in the Wolves season opener is still only $3,700 in salary on DraftKings. Just as I stated on Friday don’t overthink this one and lock Powers into your lineups.
Erica McCall– You shouldn’t need to roster McCall tonight on DraftKings with Powers a $100 cheaper than she is but on FanDuel if you are looking for some salary savings I don’t mind McCall at all. McCall is only $3,400 in salary on that site and is coming off a solid season opener. In that game against the Sky, McCall played 23 minutes off the Mystics bench and had a solid line of nine points and nine rebounds on her way to 18.30 fantasy points. With the Mystics still without Elena Delle Donne, Alysha Clark, and Myisha Hines-Allen tonight we should see a similar type of outing from McCall tonight.
