MLB DFS: The FC Insights team shares their top home-run candidates for the day’s slate
Every day this season, our team will share who we believe has the best chance to leave the yard. We’re calling it the “Dinger of the Day”. From one-off plays to core parts of daily stacks, we hope this fun article will help you build winning lineups along the way.
James: Franmil Reyes – “Patrick Sandoval has only pitched 7.1 innings for the Angels this season but has already allowed five home runs. That is a lot of home runs in a short amount of time and is a pitcher that I want to pick on in this article. While there are several Indians players I could have gone with tonight against Sandoval I am going to settle on Reyes who always seems to hit left-handed pitching well and has some great Statcast numbers this season with an average exit velocity of 93.6 miles per hour and a 20.9% barrel rate.”
Zach: Kyle Higashioka – “I love Jared’s selection of Aaron Judge as Jordan Lyles is a pitcher that I want to target hitters against on this article. While I could have played it safe and selected Giancarlo Stanton who should be back in the Yankees lineup tonight I am going to go with one of my off the wall picks that I specialize in with the Yankees catcher Higashioka. Higashioka should be in the lineup with Gerrit Cole on the mound and while Higashioka is not a household name he has the numbers that I look for in my home run hitter. Higashioka has an ISO over .300 against right-handed pitching since the start of last season. Higashioka’s Statcast numbers are also excellent this season with a 17.3-degree launch angle, a 17.6% barrel rate, and a 41.2% hard-hit rate.”
Jared: Aaron Judge – “Judge is having an insane year for the Yankees, absolutely tearing the cover off the ball. His 21% barrel% 96.6 mph EV and 12 HR are all excellent – as is his season-long 11.2-degree launch angle. Jordan Lyles – a fly ball pitcher throwing in a hitter’s park – is as tantalizing as it gets for an opposing hitter. The entire Yankees lineup should feast on the Texas righty, and Judge has a great shot to continue his hot 2021 start.”
