DraftKings CoD Core Plays and Cheat Sheet (CDL) – May 14, 2021
MIN ROKKR v.s. LON Royal Ravens (3:00 PM) (-118 MIN)
LDN is coming off a dominant win yesterday and looking for revenge against MIN who they were swept by in Major 1 3-0. Previously MIN had trouble with opposing submachine gun players but now they have a counter for that in Standy who currently has a K/D barely over 1 but is still crucial in MIN’s slaying. Unfortunately, this stage MIN has struggled with what used to be their bread and butter which is the search and destroy gametype (2-4 record). LDN’s search and destroy isn’t any better either (2-6 record) but they do have the better record in respawns (6-6) compared to MIN’s (3-7). Priestahh’s slaying will be need especially in the search and destroy gametype which he has drastically improved in (1.59 K/D) while in the flex role along with Attach’s 28% of the team’s kills across all gametypes. However, since LDN seems to have gotten quietly better they’ll more than likely need to rely more on their assault rifle mains in Paulehx/Seany who both have K/D’s above 1 but are the most consistent at the moment in respawn gametypes for LDN. Therefore, I wouldn’t be surprised if LDN rides off their momentum from their win yesterday but if MIN is able to fix their respawn gametype flaws it should be really close.
Optic CHI v.s. LA Guerrillas (4:30 PM) (-145 OGC)
LAG seem to be finding their stride as they enter this match against OGC off a win and the energy is high for them at the moment and that’s mainly due to Cheen’s presence which has helped the team more than people expected along with his slaying (1.16 K/D). In addition, LAG will be looking for revenge in this matchup as well where OGC defeated them in Stage 1: 1-3. Dashy was the most consistent player in that series for OGC and the only player on his team with a 1 K/D across all gametypes. But, OGC has not looked the same lately and seem to have lost focus on playing as a unit at times during matches. If they regain their teamwork then there is a good chance they can make this win easier for them especially being better in search and destroy which used to be their weakest gametype. Scump has been the most consistent player for OGC this stage as well and will need his teammate Envoy to step up and not make wild challenges in gunfights to keep their decision making together in-tact. On the other hand, Assault has complemented Cheen well with his assault rifle slaying and will give Dashy/FormaL a run for their money this time around which the match may end up coming down to as the assault rifle mains face off.
TOR Ultra v.s. ATL FaZe (6:00 PM) (-155 ATL)
ATL looks even hungrier now after sweeping their opponent yesterday and more than likely will have that same energy against TOR today after losing to them in the previous Major Final. After signing 2pac to the ATL roster for coaching, ATL have improved in the search and destroy gametype which was their biggest flaw and will be a problem for other teams because they are one of they can be one of the best respawn teams in the game although they had their ups and downs this stage. The assault rifle mains of Arcitys and Cellium continue to improve their gameplay for this squad especially Cellium (1.2 K/D overall) who is playing out of his mind and being a nuisance on maps against opposing teams. Simp’s slaying will need to be a lot better in search and destroy compared to last time where he had a 0.58 K/D in order to give his team increased chances to defeat TOR because although ATL got better at it as a whole that is one of TOR’s best gametypes. Cammy has also played really well for TOR in the search and destroy gametype (1.59 K/D) and will be a lot to handle along with his assault rifle duo Insight (1.21 K/D) who has made some crucial calls in crazy wins TOR has had in this gametype against previous teams. This match should end up being a bloodbath and close one to the end but we’ll find out how much fury ATL will bring in order to receive their revenge.
NY Subliners v.s. FLA Mutineers (7:30 PM) (-120 NYS)
This may end up being one of the most interesting matches today because both of these teams have the potential to win the Major with the way they’ve been playing lately. It’s unfortunate that they both had to matchup this early but there can only be one winner. NYSL was also able to defeat FLA in the first major 3-2 which will more than likely be in the back of FLA’s mind. NYSL has emerged as the best hardpoint team this stage and have looked really good with the addition of Hydra who was the submachine gun slayer that they needed to complement Asim. Unfortunately, for NYSL they no longer have the player that performed best in the previous win against FLA in Diamondcon but they still have the capability to perform well with the new team they have now. Mack has quietly become the rock for this team at the flex role and performing a lot better compared to previous stages (current 1.12 K/D) and if he continues to anchor well NYSL has a good chance to continue their strive for the Major Final. On the other hand, the assault rifle mains of FLA to counter Mack/Clayster in Owakening/Skyz are finally starting to find consistency together which may cause some problems for NYSL especially in the search and destroy/control gametypes where FLA has the better record (5-2 S&D- 2-4 Control) versus NYSL’s (4-3 S&D – 1-4 Control) record. Therefore, if FLA can sneak away with a hardpoint win early which would be NYSL’s first loss in that gametype this stage their chances of winning will be slightly better. That being said with the expected contributions from the assault rifle mains from both sides being high this match may come down to who ends up being the better submachine gun duo. Neptune’s plays were crucial for FLA’s win yesterday but it will be a lot on him to repeat exactly how it occurred. Asim/HyDra of NYSL have the slight advantage in the slaying category with a 1.01 K/D combined compared to Neptune/Havok of FLA’s 0.93 K/D currently so this bodes well for NYSL if the assault rifle mains play their part well and the slaying continues to go this route for NYSL’s submachine gun mains.
