The NBA Rundown – FanDuel & DraftKings NBA DFS Picks – April 24, 2021 (4/24/21)
In this article, we will be breaking down some of our favorite plays on the slate at their positions. Please note that players on DraftKings have multi-position eligibility and may not always match their position on FanDuel. Remember to always keep your eye on the news as the day progresses as NBA news changes the slate frequently.
Malcolm Brogdon – Brogdon has really played well since missing several games at the start of the month. In his past seven games, Brogdon is averaging 24.7 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 6.9 assists. Brogdon has at least 39 fantasy points in six of those seven games and is averaging 45.63 fantasy points per game during this stretch. Tonight we should expect Brogdon to keep up his hot play for two reasons. The first of those reasons is due to the number of injuries the Pacers are dealing with specifically with Domantas Sabonis and Myles Turner out. This season with those two off the court, Brogdon has seen an increase of usage of 5.6% to 31.3% and is averaging 1.25 fantasy points per minute. The second reason is due to the match-up against the Pistons. The Pistons have allowed the ninth-most fantasy points per game this season and the second-most over their past 15 games to point guards.
Killian Hayes – Hayes should be in the lineup for the Pistons tonight and is off a minutes restriction which makes him a solid value play tonight as Hayes has been solid in his past four games. In those four games, Hayes is averaging 10.3 points, 2.5 rebounds, 6.8 assists, and two steals. Hayes has at least 21 fantasy points in each of those games and is averaging a solid 0.96 fantasy points per minute in those games. The Pacers are also a decent enough match-up for Hayes as they rank in the bottom 12 in fantasy points allowed per game and defensive efficiency to point guards this season.
Armoni Brooks– Brooks is not someone that I know a lot about but what I do know is he is playing a lot of minutes for the Rockets right now. Brooks has played at least 25 minutes in four straight games for the Rockets and has played over 30 minutes in back-to-back games. With John Wall out for the Rockets tonight we should easily expect Brooks to surpass the 30-minute mark once again. Now, Brooks has not always made the most of his minutes in the past four games with two games under 16 fantasy points but that doesn’t bother me tonight as Brooks is going to see the boost with Wall out and the Nuggets are a solid match-up for Brooks. In their past seven games, the Nuggets rank in the bottom ten in fantasy points allowed per game to point guards.
PJ Dozier – Dozier is way too cheap tonight on both sites at $4,100 on DraftKings and $3,900 on FanDuel for the way he has played since Jamal Murray went down with an injury. Dozier has played at least 25 in four of those five games and is averaging 10.4 points, four rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.4 steals in those games. Dozier has at least 23 fantasy points in each of the four games that he has played at least 25 minutes which is a mark he should play tonight. Dozier has not just played well relative to his salary since Murray went out but the match-up against the Rockets is also one that you want to target. The Rockets have the eighth-worst defensive efficiency and are allowing the most fantasy points per game to shooting guards this season.
Joe Ingles – Ingles continues to put up big numbers with Donovan Mitchell out. In the past three games since Mitchell went down with his injury, Ingles is averaging 20.66 points, 4.33 rebounds, 7.67 assists, and 1.66 steals+blocks. Ingles has at least 31 fantasy points in each of those games and is averaging 1.20 fantasy points per minute in those games. While I know three games is not a huge sample size this is the kind of production we have seen from Ingles throughout the season whenever either Mitchell or Mike Conley has not been able to suit up. The match-up also works out heavily in Ingles’s favor as the Wolves are just flat-out bad especially on defense. This season the Wolves rank in the bottom five in both defensive efficiency and fantasy points allowed per game to wing players.
Zion Williamson – The power forward position is ugly tonight and due to that reason, I feel you have to just play Williamson. Williamson puts up big numbers on a nightly basis and for the season is averaging 1.31 fantasy points per minute. Now I know the match-up against the Spurs doesn’t look great on paper as they have the fourth-best defensive efficiency and are allowing the second-fewest fantasy points per game to power forwards but when you look at Williamson’s numbers against them this season you really shouldn’t be worried. In his prior two games against the Spurs, Williamson averaged 20.5 points, 12.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 2.5 steals, and a block while producing at least 46 fantasy points in each game.
Andre Drummond – Drummond dollar for dollar might be my favorite player on this slate. Drummond is $7,500 or under on both sites but playing well above that salary. In his past three games, Drummond is averaging 16.3 points, 11.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.7 steals, and 1.3 blocks. Drummond has at least 48 fantasy points in two of those three games including a game against the Mavs who the Lakers play tonight. With the Mavs’ recent struggles against centers, there is no reason to believe that Drummond doesn’t put up another huge game tonight.
Bam Adebayo – I never seem to get Adebayo right as every time I roster him he seems to have one of his floor-type games. With that being said I am going to be rostering Adebayo tonight as the match-up with the Bulls is just too good. The Bulls even since the trade for Nikola Vucevic have struggled against centers and this season they have the worst defensive efficiency while allowing the seventh-most fantasy points per game to the position.
