DraftKings CoD Core Plays and Cheat Sheet (CDL) – April 9, 2021
MIN ROKKR v.s. DAL Empire (3:00 PM EST) (-170 DAL)
What might be the closest matchup of the day is a battle among the top 2-3 teams in the league right now and both are on a winning streak. In addition, this would be a rematch from their previous game this stage in which MIN slightly won in a series count 3-2. The defending CoD champs, DAL, seem to be coming back to form especially Huke which could be scary for MIN. Illey has been the most efficient player of both teams in the last faceoff with a 1.13 K/D and if Crimsix can perform really well like he did yesterday with a ridiculously good 1.49 K/D the assault rifle mains of MIN may be in trouble. Attach of MIN performed consistently well in the previous matchup and luckily for MIN is the second most relied on player for MIN right now (1.05 K/D) along with his submachine gun duo and rookie standout Standy (1.11 K/D). DAL’s best chances to take this series may be them taking a search and destroy game in the series which has been MIN’s backbone in series against teams as they gradually improved in respawns.
ATL FaZe v.s. TOR Ultra (4:30 PM EST) (-435 ATL)
Hot off the upset against OGC 3-1, TOR will be looking to accomplish more upsets but face arguably the best team in the league right now for the second time in ATL. The first time these teams met earlier in this stage ATL was able to sweep/dominate the series 3-0. Although TOR may not be too far from ATL in the team overall K/D category (1.02 v.s 1.21) this may still be a very very tough task to accomplish. Simp played out of his mind last time these teams faced off and had a 1.65 K/D while his tiny terror duo in aBeZy followed up with a 1.35 K/D. In addition, ATL have only lost a respawn gametype one time this whole Stage 2 while TOR lost eight times which puts them at a huge disadvantage even though anything could happen. TOR more than likely will study what LAG did to defeat ATL this stage but more than likely ATL will continue to make the same adjustments they did after that loss to keep winning. CleanX and Bance will have to do their best to slow down the dominance of the tiny terrors but this stage currently has an average 0.99 K/D combined versus Simp/aBeZy’s 1.25 K/D combined which may make it even more difficult. If TOR is able to somehow slow these two down it will benefit them greatly but if they are unable to accomplish that they may end up getting swept again.
SEA Surge v.s. Optic CHI (6:00 PM EST) (-200 OGC)
OGC just suffered a tough loss to TOR yesterday in a 1-3 series count and will be facing a SEA team that are coming off a 3-1 win versus FLA yesterday. OGC did not look like themselves yesterday and can’t take this SEA team for granted because they have been improving. Fortunately, OGC swept SEA during this stage when they last met so the best they can do is go back and see what worked best then and try to capitalize off that. Dashy dominated SEA in the previous matchup (1.33 K/D) but did not perform at his best yesterday but would help OGC tremendously in a must-win game to progress further if he is able to perform anywhere close to that last performance. Formal who is Dashy’s assault rifle main duo was the second most efficient during that series and also was the most consistent yesterday in their loss to TOR (1.09 K/D) so these are positive signs for OGC. Gunless went on a tear yesterday for SEA (1.33 K/D) but was second-best in the previous matchup to his assault rifle main duo Octane who did not have his best game yesterday. On the other hand, the drastic improvement from their teammate Prestinni who is arguably the most improved player in the league this year (the internet switch seems to have been helping him a lot) and clutched up in many situations yesterday with a 1.13 K/D and hasn’t shown signs of slowing down. Unfortunately for OGC, they have not been as good at respawn gametypes this stage and have a record of 5-8 versus SEA’s 9-7 record which may give SEA the slight edge they need to get revenge.
NY Subliners v.s. LA Thieves (7:30 PM EST) (-200 NYSL)
NYSL returns in a matchup against a brand-new LAT team (who is on a current two-game winning streak), after being slaughtered in a loss to DAL 0-3 yesterday. However, luckily for NYSL they have defeated this team (with their previous roster) in a close series 3-2. Clayster struggled slightly during yesterday’s series but has a chance to bounce back in this rematch. Last time these two teams met Clayster performed the best on his team with a 1.24 K/D. On the other hand, the best performing player for LAT, Slasher (1.21 K/D), was recently benched for Drazah so someone will have to fill that role and try to replicate that performance and/or exceed it to give LAT a fighting chance. Kenny was the next most efficient player during the last matchup and has been performing well for the most part to start the Major 2. Both teams were even in respawn gametypes and search and destroy (1-1 records) last time they met, but during Stage 2 NYSL has been slightly better in respawn gametypes (9-8 record vs LAT’s 8-8). Therefore, if NYSL can get started on the right foot early in this game they may end up having the upper hand to progress further in the loser’s bracket.
