DraftKings CoD Core Plays and Cheat Sheet (CDL) – April 1-2, 2021

Things are beginning to shake up in the standings with the second Major soon to be here. There is currently a three-way tie in the second group and teams in the first group trying to fix their flaws/rediscover their identity. Many teams will be out for blood so I’d expect matches to be closer with the exception of one for this two-day slate. Let’s break down the matchups and possible outcomes for the slate.

DAL Empire v.s. FLA Mutineers (Thu 3:00 PM EST)

DAL just experience a very close loss and was not able to get their revenge against MIN. They are also barely holding on to the top spot in Group B while being tied with two other teams. Huke is the X factor for DAL and has to return back to how he played in the previous stage more consistently in order for the DAL squad to become more of a problem for other teams again. Everyone else on the team has gradually increased their efficiency with iLLeY and C6 leading the way (1.03/1.02 K/D’s). Unfortunately, DAL’s team K/D overall of 1.01 is slightly less than their opponent’s FLA (1.03). Skyz has been doing very well and increased his K/D to 1.11 which is the most on his team despite FLA being more on the streakier side. However, Skyz will need his duo Owakening to have a bounce back series in order for FLA to be victorious in my opinion. The records for respawn gametypes are extremely close for both teams (DAL: 6-3 – FLA: 5-2) so whoever is able to win the majority of the battles within hardpoint/control has great chances to win matchup.

Optic CHI v.s. SEA Surge (Thu 4:30 PM EST)

CHI is surprisingly not only on a two-game losing streak but was also swept 3-0 in both series. However, it seems as if they beat themselves in the majority of their last match (not to discredit FLA’s win). This would also be a rematch from the previous match where OGC won 3-1. Unfortunately for OGC, FLA is the more consistent team right now at the moment with a team overall K/D of 1.09 versus OGC’s 0.95. Skyz was the second most efficient player in that last matchup and is currently doing the best for FLA right now statistically (1.11 K/D) so there’s a good chance he will continue to heat up along with his teammate Neptune who did the best for FLA in the previous matchup. FormaL had a 1.19 K/D last time these teams met and will need to repeat that dominance to help get OGC out of their slump along with help from his teammates. OGC has relied mainly on their respawn gametypes in the past but are struggling this stage with a 2-4 record while FLA has a 5-2 record so if FLA gets off to a strong start there is a great chance they end up becoming victorious.

TOR Ultra v.s. LON Royal Ravens (Fri 3:00 PM EST)

Both these teams met previously in a super close matchup in Major 1 where TOR won 3-2 but that was with their older teammate Methodz who was replaced by Insight. LON has improved drastically since then and have a 1.07 K/D overall compared to their previous 0.91. PaulEhx has been dominating for LON (1.16 K/D) and is also a significant anchor and assault rifle main for his team that’s showing no signs of slowing down. The duel between him and the opposing assault rifle main for TOR who is Insight (1.14 K/D) may end up being a significant contribution to their team win. All gametype records for these teams are extremely close (4-4 for LON and 3-5 for TOR in respawn modes) and (2-1 for LON and 2-2 for TOR) so I’d expect this game to go down to the wire once again. In other words, it’s difficult to point out a clear-cut winner and either team can take it.

ATL FaZe v.s. LA Guerrilas (Fri 4:30 PM EST)

This is the most one-side game on the slate in which ATL should win easily. LAG is still winless but did lose their last game during the last map. Vivid has been the most reliable player for LAG with a 1.02 K/D and more than likely will be carrying the load once again but will need more help from his teammates to succeed. ATL’s team K/D overall is a ridiculously 1.30 while LAG’s is 0.96 which bodes a lot better for ATL. The tiny terrors of aBeZy and Simp have been playing out of their minds (1.41/1.32 K/D’s) and no one has really been able to stop them so I’d expect them to continue dominating. Although this is a pro league I’d be shocked if LAG was able to pull out a win in this series.
