- DraftKings Xfinity NASCAR DFS – EchoPark 250 – March 20, 2021
Martin Truex Jr. – DK: $11,300 – Starting 18th
I am quite sure that this play ends up being very highly owned, but not only is Truex a large cut in talent above the field, this is also a track he has historically done very very well on. At the cup level, Truex has six straight top-eight finishes here in Atlanta with three of them being in the top five – including a third and second in his two races here in 2020. This will be Truex’s first Xfinity start since 2010 and as of right now he is a 1.5-1 favorite to win this race. Add in the fact that he starts middle of the pack here and we have a driver who can gain us differential and once he gets up front will have a car who can dominate this race. I do think there are some interesting pivots here for tournaments, but if playing any cash games then Truex shouldn’t hurt you either way as he will be chalk – but extremely high ceiling chalk.
Colby Howard – DK: $6,600 – Starting 23rd
We don’t have a ton of data on Colby Howard here at Atlanta as he has only run one race here, but his one race here was a positive one as he started 34th and finished 15th last June. Aside from the one race sample at Atlanta, Howard has been in strong form over the last two weeks with a 20th place finish at Vegas and 16th at Phoenix. Both of these starts returned 42 and 36 fantasy points respectively. Howard is best at 1.5-mile tracks, seeing success in the past at Miami, Texas, and Vegas. With all things considered, this actually feels like one of the safer value plays on the board this week. Personal preference would have him starting a little bit further back, but as long as nothing out of our control factors here, Howard has shown a strong car that can compete in 2021.
