Week 6 NFL DFS Tight End (TE) Targets For FanDuel & DraftKings

Welcome to the FC Insights Tight End Targets Article. In this post, we will be breaking down our top options and plays at the TE position for each DFS week of the 2020-2021 NFL DFS season.

Top Plays

Mark Andrews ($7,600 FD, $6,500 DK)

Opponent Team Total Opponent Passing Yards Allowed Per Game to TEs Opponent Receptions Allowed Per Game to TEs Opponent Fantasy Points Allowed Per Game to TEs
Eagles 27.25 69.0 6.5 19.4

I don’t like paying wide receivers salaries for tight ends but I am still going to have plenty of shares of Andrews this week. Andrews is just that damn good. This season, Andrews has at least 50 yards receiving and a score in three of his five games including in two straight games. Dating back to last season, Andrews has now reached those marks in five of his past seven games. Andrews is not only putting up big numbers week in and week out but the match-up against the Eagles is a juicy one. This season the Eagles have allowed the sixth-most receptions, sixth-most receiving yards, and third-most touchdowns to tight ends. The Eagles have allowed three of the five tight ends they have faced this season to produced double-digit fantasy points with two of those players producing 25 or more fantasy points. What makes the Eagles numbers even worst in my eyes is the fact that outside of George Kittle they have not faced an elite tight end with only Tyler Higbee being close to considered a good tight end.

Jonnu Smith ($5,800 FD, $5,200 DK)

Opponent Team Total Opponent Passing Yards Allowed Per Game to TEs Opponent Receptions Allowed Per Game to TEs Opponent Fantasy Points Allowed Per Game to TEs
Texans TBD 51.0 4.5 12.0

If you thought the return of A.J. Brown was going to affect Smith’s value at all you were wrong as Smith still had a big game. In last night’s game against the Bills, Smith had five catches for 40 yards and two scores on his seven targets. Smith not has seen at least seven targets in all but one game this season has at least four catches in each game and has found the end zone in all but one game this season. While the match-up against the Texans is not the best in the world I really don’t see a reason why Smith doesn’t continue his breakout season in this one.

Evan Engram ($5,600 FD, $4,900 DK)

Opponent Team Total Opponent Passing Yards Allowed Per Game to TEs Opponent Receptions Allowed Per Game to TEs Opponent Fantasy Points Allowed Per Game to TEs
Washington Football Team 23.00 59.8 5.3 18.8

Engram has been killing me this season as I keep playing him in hopes that he will have that killer game. While the killer game has not happened yet based on the way the Giants’ offense uses him it is bound to happen a lot sooner than later. This might be a gut call but I think the sooner happens this week due to the match-up against the Washington Football Team. The worst professional team name ever has really struggled to stop tight ends. This season Washington has allowed the fourth-most receiving yards, third-most touchdowns, and fifth-most fantasy points per game to tight ends.

Value Plays

Irv Smith Jr. ($4,300 FD, $2,500 DK)

Opponent Team Total Opponent Passing Yards Allowed Per Game to TEs Opponent Receptions Allowed Per Game to TEs Opponent Fantasy Points Allowed Per Game to TEs
Falcons 29.00 84.0 8.3 21.5

Fair warning this play is not for the faint of heart as despite all the hype surrounding Smith in the offseason he has not done much this season. With that being said I feel he is worth a look in GPPs this week if you need a punt at the tight end position as he did show signs of life in the Vikings last game. In that game against the Seahawks, Smith played 68% of the offensive snaps and ran a pass route on 72% of the Vikings pass attempts. In those routes, he was targeted five times and turned those targets into four catches for 64 yards. The targets were one less than he had seen in the first three games of the season combined and the catches and yards were more than he had in the first three games combined. Smith not only showed signs of life last week but the Falcons are also a team that I love to pick on with tight ends. The Falcons rank in the bottom five in receptions allowed, receiving yards allowed, and fantasy points allowed per game to the position and have allowed seven touchdown passes to the position which is the most in the NFL this season.
