Core Plays

Justin Allgaier – DK: $11,000 – Starting 1st

I am going to take a bit of a risk here and lock-in Justin Allgaier as our top play with week as we return to Bristol. Allgaier is in great current form as he swept the races this past weekend in Virginia, winning on both Friday and Saturday. We saw Allgaier last at Bristol back in early June when he started tenth and finished 18th… Due to him wrecking with three laps to go. This still shook out to 84 fantasy points and a place in the optimal lineup for that week as he led 156 laps. Bristol is a track that if you can grab an early lead we can definitely hold it. Ross Chastain will start next to him and it will be important for Allgaier to secure the front early as we will need the laps led for him to shake out as the top dominator here.

Colby Howard – DK: $4,800 – Starting 31st

Howard has fallen victim to some car failure recently which is a bummer because Howard himself has proven to be a talented young driver. Last week in Virginia it was a break issue around half way into the race. The mechanical stuff is always going to pose some risk for us here, but this cheap price and far back starting position soften to blow even if something does happen to the point where Howard can not finish. I may be chasing a bit here, but in his first go-around at Bristol, Howard completed 296 laps and finished in 19th. There really isn’t a lot of tracks comparable to Bristol and these races can always end up as wreck fests, so given the nature of the track, I am fine punting a low dollar option to get a few more towards the front.
